At first ...., but he spent lots of time, effort, and personal finances trying to get those creators and their families compensation. Even Ditko recieved monthly checks as far as I know. Stan was bound by legal constraints, but even he would use tricky word play to say things sorta like "In my opinion Steve Ditko created the spiderman you know" , the last decades of his life where filled with interveiws of him talking up Jack Kirby and denouncing the marvel method (or system of payment) . Larry his brother co created some of those characters with him like Ironman, so there's also that. I dont think any marvel movie would say co-created by Jack Kirby, or Steve Diko without his efforts.
I like Stan Lee though he kind of stiffed a lot of his fellow creators by promoting himself as the sole creator on many iconic comic characters. Many had to sue to get credit or paid in deals made without their consent. A lot of the same treatment happened to him.
I had the great privilege of seeing Stan and getting his picture. No more than 3 years later I got him to sign it. He looked awful. So devoid of life and no joy in his eyes. So different from the last time. I also saw him surrounded by 2 or more relatives. Not his daughter. They were smiling and I got a sick feeling in my stomach. Like they were just thinking how much $$$ they were going to get from the convention. Thank God I saw him the first time. So much force in his handshake, so much energy just being in his presence. When he shook my hand, you wouldn’t believe it was a 90 something year old man. I looked him dead in the eye and screamed at the top of my lungs EXCELSIOR!!!! He turned, looked back at me and screamed YEAHHHHHHH!!!!! Again his voice was like thunder.
I would suggest you do more research about your subject, who treated his artists, such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko with such disrespect, that they couldn't even get their original artwork back. I guarantee you that these men made less money together than Stan Lee, who did make millions of dollars as Marvel's spokesperson for decades, while his staff basically worked in a sweatshop, and never got royalties for any of their original creations. If it weren't for Jack Kirby, there would be no Marvel Comics or MCU film franchise.

Part one could have been better: Prior to the collapse - Why would Stanley get any equity? His not the one investing money into the business, his not the one at risk if marvel failed. That's kind of the trade-off you make when you work as an employee in a creative industry. You trade great rewards and extreme risk in exchange for a stable income and less risk. That's not a very good example of someone being a victim. After the collapse - You just say that marvel didn't pay him his 10%, which is a big accusation and should have been a central point if it was true, but you dont explain anything about how and why at all. If it was just a verbal agreement that doesn't mean anything. Stanley worked in the industry for 30 years, no way he was fooeld into thinking a verbal agreement held any weight, thus not a victim. I doubt marvel would have been able to avoid paying him if there was a actual contract and even if they were you should have explained how.

Michael Jackson as Spider-Man?!
I kinda wanna see that actually...
Interesting. I'll have to look into this more 👍🏻♥️♥️♥️
Stan lee was such an iconic figure with the characters he created and the people he helped but seeing him not getting payed properly and even being pushed by his own daughter to work even at an old age and him being accused in his last 2 years is just down right awful and saddening but he will always be remembered and he is not living peacefully in the clouds now
Stan Lee screwed over Jack Kirby and stole silver surfer, causing Jack to leave Marvel and go to DC. Stan Lee has never created a good character on his own and took most of the credit for his co-creations. While almost every Marvel movie has a Stan Cameo and people know who he is, not as many people know about Jack Kirby. Jack Kirby’s family had to fight in court for them to see anything for his work.
sadly some families' treat their parents badly when they audits
I stand for Stan. #Excelsior !
Algorithm.
second
That is so sad.
😢
Just a tip for everyone, make sure you click the 3 dots under this video listing and press “Not interested in channel”. Saving you some time
just because u don’t like this doesn’t mean u gotta go out of your way to comment this and btw by clicking on this video u gave Charles some money
@@JA6XN Im allowed to comment whatever I want, wherever I want. Dont need you to tell me I didnt have to lol. And I really dont care about him making 0.1% of a cent from my view, I think its worth the criticism I want to give.
@@jeancena3556 actually your not allowed to comment misinformation and that’s what this is
@@JA6XN Cant tell if that was a bad roast or youre just talking full on knowing youre wrong lol. But continue to listen to this grifter charles who legitimately spreads political misinformation on his channel. Youre trust a random tiktoker on the internet for info, you are the one who has to deal with it in the end, not me.
@@JA6XN Misinformation isn't disliking a channel. Censoring someones opinion because you don't agree with it is however textbook facism though... I get why a lot of people dislike the guy, all he makes are clickbait youtube shorts which actually ARE misinformation.
Great work as always Charles!
