@The Riddler literally no. Spidey was only thought of as a joke in the beginning when stan's boss didnt like the idea of spiderman because people dont like spiders or teenagers cant be superheroes but only sidekicks. But when spidey appeared in amazing fantasy 15 people loved him and they wanted more. Spidey has always been popular not just because of the movies but because he is singlehandedly the most relatable superhero on the planet to many many people.

@The Riddler It's not just the movies. Spiderman sells more merchandise than any Marvel character. His games sell the best and generally speaking he has the best solo games. Also his comics sell well too.

@The Riddler Erm Iron Man, Hulk, the X-men etc. If you think the movies made Spiderman mainstream you're beyond delusional. The first Spiderman movie came out in my generation. Even my Mother liked Spiderman as a kid and she has never read a comic before.

We get the peter parker / spiderman that no one knows who he is. He can go back to struggling with being a super hero / being a normal young adult with a job and bills. I think it will make the relationship between him and mary jane even better with him not wanting to repeat what he did in the first 3 movies. Stan Lee already outlived us all , it's called "IMMORTALITY"! Thanks to these interviews & of course his legacy, Stan "The Man" Lee will never be forgotten!
I understand why some many want to be "FAMOUS"! Once you're in the "public consciousness", your life changes forever, no longer a forgotten nobody, everything you do, "good" or "bad" is recorded for posterity! Fame gives anyone the ability to have a loud voice in the world, so loud you can never be ignored again, because NOW you matter!
As for me, I do not seek fame, nor do I seek "GODhood", it's too overwhelming. Besides, my anonymity is far too important for my own sanity (what little is left, LOL)!
That is why I enjoy posting comments online, best of both worlds, the ability to have a voice , while maintaining my precious anonymity!!!

'There were Captain Marvel and Superman...' about 1 minute in, the guy clearly shows that he isn't on safe grounds with comics. He probably does not even understand why he is inteviewing a guy who draws comics. But Stan Lee is kind of a gentleman about it, in a slightly ironic way, letting it slip, just calmly pointing out that he is with Marvel and not those other guys that got this guy flying around in a cape with a letter on his chest.
Exactly this 'isn't that funny?' kind of benevolent irony that made him the peoples Stan Lee.

I keep thinking about his age here and the way he talks is so energetic and young the same with the old Stan Lee in the present

He was so charismatic. You could know his face and voice immediately. Another person who you want to meet but passed before you could :( RIP
I bet back then they made fun because they didn't take children seriously. Really uptight adults. Secretly many adults loved his work back then. Glad people took comics seriously afterwards.

He roasted DC very quietly by saying Marvel likes to make things accurate and scientific unless guys with capes and bold letters on their chest. That was SAVAGE!!!
