fuck bro. i want to read LOTM in all it's glory. cf should release the uncensored part somewhere else or something. damn man ignorance is bliss, now i will always feel like i am missing out something
For anyone concerned about Lotm read this: As the translator for Cuttlefish's author notes and volumes summaries in the discord, I was personally there when Cuttlefish ranted about every part that he had to censor/alter. All in all, there were only TWO parts in the entire novel that he had to change in the Chinese version (not the English version) The first is the cultist incident on the train, where all the passengers got turned into puppets and showed Klein the "eight teeth" creepy smile simultanously. That part was removed in Chinese version for it being reported as "advocating terrorism". the other known part that was censored, was Klein's encounter with a Demoness, where he basically nutted himself. 1.) physical injury, especially that which is deliberately inflicted.
2.) material damage.
3.) actual or potential ill effect or danger.

*Harm* : Verb
1.) to physically injure.
2.) damage the health of.
3.) have an adverse effect on.

It might change if you dont read 3 and 4 until way way later to shrugh off the freshness from the 1 and 2.
@@zaratastari2457 yeah def stop at soul land 2
every soul land is recycled cringe trash, every mc personality is bland as every side character the fights are dogshit the romance is dumpster garbage with every mc becoming a simp with 1 brain cell
The first soul land was ok with typical reincarnated op mc but soul land 2 had the perfect setting to dive more on the world building and lore the author just fkd up with cringe romance and daddy's girl shenanigans 😂 after that every other sequal was just meh
I finally found the true leader of the heavenly court and the murderer of the great love Venerable
glad to see that no matter where, who or what they believe in, the slightest bit of 'success' over others always leads to the ladder being pulled away for everyone else.
I think it's very unlikely that he did it but i think his opinion on the matter definitely influenced heavily the opinion of what should be bannable and what not.I think if he didn't press the matter and didn't talk about it the bans and the strikes would definitely be A LOT better and definitely not that strict
the issue is he didnt even look at chinas ban list for culture he wanted save web novels by nuking web novels 90% of the fantasy genre is banned in chinas culture laws
ironic is the WNs he banned were tamer than the shit that made him popular back then. Just accept it, he's a CCP drone now.
I'm pretty sure he was used as a scapegoat…
@@sakuseihuoshen That's possible actually. Like that one drink company being hated for the color of a water bottle. It happen because their rival company happen to be a part of CCP so that company got nuked.
from what I know he is a scum. he tried too fk with a lot of authors works. One of my distinct memory. I remember he had a huge beef with the author that wrote Your Majesty, Please spare me First sequence/order in his author notes talking shit about this scum author doing some shady sh1t.
Holy fuck, that explains why so many web novels i used to follow stopped one day. 😢
I KNOW. Some web novels that are great and became my place to go to rewind suddenly just stopped updating one day.
Never in my entire life have I heard of this guy or any of his works, but I still watched the whole video lol
Welcome to the UA-cam algorithm.
Same, i know doulou dalu but idk the author, i read some Chinese web novel but i think most of them just trash
The animated show is fun & the manhuas are very pretty & entertaining, especially if it's your first time seeing this type of fantasy setting where characters literally gain levels like they're in a video game. The TV show is trash & I dropped the novel 'cuz 1) he went into way too much detail describing the body of a 12 yo girl (full paragraphs for her chest & bum, comparing her to adult women, etc) and 2) the author really likes to write porn where MC fucks every girl he meets, if she wants it or not.
Honestly if you want a good cultivation novel, you have other options, you just gotta dig a bit further (I'd recommend Heaven Official's Blessing - it has 2 seasons of animation, the novel is super funny & even has an official translation. There's also ORV & Solo Leveling if you want something more apocalyptic or modern ^^)
Honestly glad I watched this. Stopped reading Chinese wn's because a lot of Chinese novels I've read felt weak and now I know I won't be able to experience a great story thats consistently amazing through and through because of these rules.
I know there are well praised wn's like lord of the mysteries but it sucks to know that even the best are held back when they could be the next big thing outside of the wn community
It is worth noting that the government have *always* been banning stuff, long before the proposal. Asking for clarified criteria is, therefore, not a bad thing, assuming that the standard would have been the same either way(the devil you know etc etc). But that is kind of the issue, we don't know if the standard is the same. We don't know of the scope, scale and timing of the actions would have been the same.
FCK THIS GUY!!!!!! maaaaan RI literally stopped when the Venerables got resurrected and started fighthing/interacting.
Yeah man first novel i read, i was on fking life support trying to read all 2300 chaps. Just when it started cooking up the finale it stopped. At first there were some news that it was only temporary ban and he would continue after 2019 but sadly it wasnt true

What do you mean most authors don't own their works? I see a black flag on the horizon that is the Internet. Yo ho ho its a pirate's life for me.
We outsiders vastly contribute to that factor by letting MTL sites roughly steal and translate using machines.
@@MollyHJohns and from there births translator communities that does refined translations.
@@MollyHJohns Really that just isn't the case. We are so far removed from it that it has little impact or no impact at all. China and Korea operate almost in a completely different ecosystem and barely even acknowledge the western audience exists. Which you can contrast this to Japan. Who are major cultural imports with a lot of countries. Especially the US. And even they still kind of neglect the western audiences. Until at least very recently.
bruh, it's literally why i jump from webnovel. even wattpad still has some appreciation for their author 😭
@@superstraight2667 these communities are great though tbh. They paid for the raws first, translate, and even leave the links to the original raws so people can pay on their own expenses when they can afford it.
This honestly makes me feel even more privilaged to live in a country with a free internet.
Despite the soulless bs Hollywood and mainstream media puts out. Anyone, anywhere is free to make a story and share it to the world. No matter how grotesque, or controversial it may be. Having even the regular man's work be gutted, censored, and forcibly banned by a state is terrifying.
I guess to put it into a western perspective. Imagine if games like Undertale for Fnaf were banned by America because it was "Un-American".
You do know that people in America are trying to ban a lot of books in there and they are slowly becoming more and more successful at it.
@@RandomSwiftie13 I was more talking about the internet. banning books is child's play. I can literally go online right now and read a full copy of Mien kampf for free.
@@ambientlightofdarknesss4245 that's still censorship tho even if it's childs play to you

I like your longer videos
Damn, reverend insanity is better than all the DD series combined.
He was the reason for "Reverend Insanity" being banned and "Lord of Mysteries" being cut up.
Oh him? Haha it kinda hectic back then sure. The Purge that is. Btw the purge imo also affect Danmei section iirc. If you interested you can cover Webnovel aka Qidian International drama with WuxiaWorld then along with GravityTales breaking apart. Basically it make plenty of scrutiny toward Qidian (mainland one) about writers contract, practice and such. For translated webnovel especially from China that drama have quite an impact. Oh kinda miss those days drama
Am getting nostalgic especially with wuxia world when they got fucked with webnovel they stole true martial world and a bunch of other works.
The BL section basically got turned into Shonen Ai 😢
Fuck! No wonder!
It's amazing how NSHBA wasn't taken down from 17k after that. That novel has so much anti-communist allusions in it it makes me wonder if it's not a mistranslation.
What do you mean by that? I am catching up on that novel right now.
What exactly are you talking about?
Never read it I have been trying to find non harem ones and the instant I see a tag with Harem I took a step back. The issue with cultivation with harem is usually pretty girls with no standing in the story other than being collectables. I probably wouldn't mind their presense but lately it becames rather generic I think.
@zaratastari2457 I think two novels that really defy that expectation is against the gods and martial peak. Especially against the gods but overall I like martial peak more.
They always give the girls cool stuff to do and even if they eventually become irrelevant because of the power scaling thier personalities are so distinct that it is fun just to see them interact with mc and the other characters.
@@zaratastari2457I think NSHBA is different, MC actually cares about his harem and his harem is strong af, not like you usual Xianxia novel where harem member sooner or latter become cannon fodder. It’s definitely one of my top 10 novel. The only downside is after 1000+ chapters, MC’s character becomes very inconsistent and becomes inside joke at some point
The thing is nsbha is junk food trash novel people don't really look too deep into it other than how many people long chen slapped
“How Two-face Demon Venerable sacrificed his rank 9 Dead-wife Gu and his whole family as materials and made rank 10 Web Cleansing Gu”
RI fans would literally find this guy if this information of this video breaks out in TikTok
Here's a question then. anyone have a list of all the banned ones. I'm sure some people would probably like to see if the internet stored them. I know the Reverend Insanity someone mentioned can be found on some websites for full read through the browser
The story is not finished because of the ban
That's super villain levels of detached from reality.
Good thing I never like any of his web novel. They're meh n trash to me. Many ppl out of CN love them mainly because his works were their first WN to read.
By CN standards his writing is phenomenal.
on behalf of my lord Fang Yuan ill never forgive him

Yeah, same. I also read those novels on ykwim-site, didn't know that so much happened, I had respect for TJSS before as he is one of the few productive author who didn't include racism and nationalism in his novel but turn out, 😂😂
Though I'm sad that LoTM can be much better than what we have now.
I been reading novels on and off for years, never paid for them just used that site to find other good books to read lmao
From my own reading about this. The govt has already been cracking down on the novels then this guy became the poster boy for it. For me it is just a CCP censorship thing rather than a personal one.
i was thinking of putting my novel on webnove, now i'm starting to have second doubts
I never knew any of this background story, but I definitely noticed when web-novel went from being poor value but with some addicting stories to just being openly scummy with the few novels being worth reading either not being greenlit beyond 40 chapters or just stopping suddenly at 200 chapters or so.
Seems like I have to move on to a Russian alternative a guy in a Wiki told me about. I have a story where there is a lot of heavy swearing and torture, and considering that I got in WebNovel with only planning to get money to pay for my college, it seems like not worth actually even trying. Well, better late than never, as they say
what's the alternative called?

If anyone read his second soul land novel they would know how much his self insert in the first book tries to put the second mc under his heel. He causes so many problems for him and no one calls him out on it. It's utter bullshit what he wrote and even though I thought it was cool, I have no interest in a story that basically turns into hardcore masochism to fuel his ego.
In short, the man is a mess and a half.
My boy Huo Yuhao having one of the most spiteful father-in-law. Its so obvious how much the author self inserts on Tang San since hes "always right" in ANY scenario where he is present. Kinda funny tbh.

Censorship is just degrading humanity imo. No matter how much I dislike some story, I'd wish for it to exist as long as someone is trying to write it.
To be fair, a clear and concise list of what you can't post isn’t an inherently a bad thing. Otherwise, you end up with a situation like youtube when they can just decide on a whim what gets you demonitized or baned.
Rest in piece Reverend Insanity I’ll miss you for the rest of my life
Nah I haven’t even watched the full video but this is about the author of dou luo da Lu? Omg I loved that show as a younger teen. But he contributed to the ban of RI? Not cool that novel is amazing
Great vid. Very informative to me who is lacking information path attainment levels. I have made my conclusion from watching this. Acceptance may not be a virtue but it sure is useful to have.
What part of Lotm was Cuttlefish referring too? The only part of the novel that felt weird to me, like it was cut short or edited in some way was maybe the Shermane/Sherman part.
What i know cf write about well detailed gore ritual its deleted cf is so mad he state he nearly quit writing
fuck bro. i want to read LOTM in all it's glory. cf should release the uncensored part somewhere else or something. damn man ignorance is bliss, now i will always feel like i am missing out something
@thefool5302 Ah, I see. Thanks for the answer. Must have been particularly brutal, because there’s some gory stuff in Lotm left uncensored.
Is the 2nd book of LOTM going okay now or is it still under censorship? Can someone tell
@@kuroh.9455 well there was detailed lobotomy 💀
For anyone concerned about Lotm read this:
As the translator for Cuttlefish's author notes and volumes summaries in the discord, I was personally there when Cuttlefish ranted about every part that he had to censor/alter.
All in all, there were only TWO parts in the entire novel that he had to change in the Chinese version (not the English version)
The first is the cultist incident on the train, where all the passengers got turned into puppets and showed Klein the "eight teeth" creepy smile simultanously. That part was removed in Chinese version for it being reported as "advocating terrorism".
the other known part that was censored, was Klein's encounter with a Demoness, where he basically nutted himself. The description of his physical reaction was removed in the Chinese version.
And that's about all the censorships that were done, to my knowledge at least. If there are more that I missed, feel free to add to them!
PS: As some have pointed out, if you are reading the English version of LOTM, no worry about censorship.
Amazing... I'm new to all this WN stuff.
Bro is getting bread but will forever be remembered as a lost cause.
1:14 bro just chanted a spell casually
Thank you for telling me exactly who you were in the first sentence. Saved me from wasting my time.
I thought it would be Mad Snail for abandoning novels.
The actual reason he gets called "Dead Wife Demon Venerable" is because he has used the death of his wife as an excuse/shield in extremely bad taste.
14:15 Most likely scenario is they already knew they were going to do it, but they told him to propose it, thinking the notion had a better chance of going over coming from a famous author, and added bonus - even if it doesn't make it go over any better, he takes the heat.
But of course, he invited them to make a tool of him when he joined that organization.
Well this explains a lot. I used to read a lot of webnovels, mostly because reading is practically a cellular level addiction for me, and it's impractical to carry stacks of books around all the time like I did before smartphones. Now I've been unable to find decent quality webnovels for a long time, and even many that were pretty good before became, seemingly overnight, severely uninteresting and/or incomprehensible. Censorship is *always* bad, mmkay?
