Very nice guy, very different approach comparing to any other gear "presenter", you can see he actually respects and connects with those instruments, he actually knows the story behind any spec he talks about and doesn't just bombard you with information.
+treloskitharistas I had the pleasure of being invited to go to the Custom Shop a few times, and the guys there are just like this guy. All of them were super friendly and just loved their craft. A lot of these quirky "limited run" models were just builders messing around making something they thought would be cool.
***** It reminds you that there aren't only excessively advertised "bargain" guitars in this world, most of the guitar presentations and demos actually force you to buy stuff, but that guy seems like he doesn't care if those guitars will sell, he just admires the craftsmanship and passion they required, I like that way of thinking though I can't afford even a mexican tele :P
The Gibson guy from last year! he's great!
yeah you know that the guy really like his job an he knows what he is talking about.
I want to invite that guy round for tea! He's awesome.
What a laid back, really nice presentation for a Friday afternoon. 10/10 for this one folks.
Best NAMM video i have ever watched. Really calm and great infos.
Thanx Mick, Pete and Mike.
I don't like Gibson, but I love Gibson Memphis.
And now it’s all in Nashville :(
That 355 is glorious, but it needs an ebony board. The whole point of the 355 was it was the most luxuriant of the luxurious.
Could almost hear the pain in Mike's voice when he said they were still using Richlite on them.
What a great guy, lives for his guitars brilliant!!! The looks on Pete and Mick faces, sooo happy, kids in a sweet shop but I'd be just the same, probably be there till they locked the doors and had to throw me out. Would love to go, just to walk around and take it all in.
What a smashing, knowledgeable guy this fella is. Really enjoyed this guitar show.
Also, huge respect to Pete for taking care not to let the guitars touch his zipper.
Was hoping this guy would be at the Gibson booth again!
pete & mick my favourite duo
this guy does not have an ounce of fakeness in him. what a genuine and cool dude.
Very nice guy, it's a pleasure to hear him talking about guitars.
this guys seems lovely, what a bloody legend
Great presentation and interview by the guys very enjoyable
I loved watching this video because of the presenter. Not only that, Mick and Pete are some of the best interviewers.
I like Mike, the passion he shows for his products, very sympatic.
What a dude!
What a cool guy, I could listen to him all day long
Great guy, very pleasant to listen to. Miles away from the usual carpet sellers. The ES 275 looks great, can't wait to see how much it will be selling...
Great presenter, hope Gibson knows to keep Mike around! He knows his stuff, soft-spoken dude, a good representation of what Gibson should be in terms of PR/Product Specializing.
The 275 is fantastic! I drooled form just looking at it!
The plain top 275 is gorgeous!
This guy is awesome! You can really ear the love for the guitars in his voice XD
Hope Pete, gets to test drive the 59, and 63 335. He might give that amazing 275 a cruise around the block too.
You can actually hear the difference between the two around 17:00, even with the mic and background noise!
All the information I could find about ES-275 are in Japanese.
ES-275 at the moment is not listed in the Andertons web page linked.
Will you sell ES-275 in UK?
This guy is full of character. Good to see Greg Koch in the background at some point. Some lovely looking guitars there. They need to get to their classic models and make them as good as they can-regain the lost ground.
I hope we get a plugged-in comparison (and better miced acoustic comparison) of those last two guitars at some point.
Damnnn, Mance Rayder heading the Memphis stand at Namm, who woulda thought?
Excellent info, great vid.
The ES275 is VERY interesting. Hopefully the prices won't be obscene.
Incredible how fast they get these videos out
Is Memphis not producing the 1963 TD VOS 335s this year?
The Gibson Memphis guy is always the star of the show at NAMM.
Definitely gonna be buying a 275 this year.
The 355 in drab green is stunning!
What make is that leather jacket?
Please this leather jacket!
Omfg Pete was in Anaheim!
I checked the Gibson website and didn't see everything there, some guitars but mostly colors shown here were not on the Gibson Website.
+Feedback NAMM is where they showcase new and upcoming guitars, they're probably not available yet
+Steven Chabot I know that, I only saw some of the 2016 lineup. So they had some of the guitars shown here not all of them.
+Feedback I know right , spent 2 hrs looking for the les Paul special can't find it at all
+ep82 We'll just have to wait.
355 is so beautiful
No Gibson basses this year? Was hoping for a Les paul Signature bass reissue.
Mike's got passion, Anderton's crew has passion, but I was comparing Gibby's display to Fender's display, and couldn't help to think if Gibson is smarting from all the flack on their guitar prices, quality issues, wood importing issues, etc., Even if Fender is far from perfect and has made some bad moves (I'm looking at you, packing in Hamer...) at least they still come out with their best CS work visible for everyone rather than hidden away, and more importantly, they're still looking to do some wild experiments. I personally wouldn't have minded seeing a Gibson Moderne CS model or a Corvus that would have countered Fender's MB Katana. Shame that corporate seems to lack the passion the Gibson Memphis and CS builders have.
A lot of outlests I know of are dropping their contracts with Gibson, and are no longer official stockists. Anybody know why?
+Darragh Tate probably the new crap they are pulling with the true historics
+Darragh Tate It will almost certainly be poor sales and/or poor support. Gibson Nashville rather that Gibson Memphis may be largely responsible as they make the majority of the guitars.
Why no promoption of the Tal Farlow,L-5 Wes Montgomery or the other big hollows of your lineup? Too much emphasis on is being made on solid body models. You also need to have some serious price reductions and monitor store inventory so consumers cqan find what they want.
I like this guy :)
Wait... Is Mick's Dad THE Mick Taylor from the Rolling Stones?
Is he?
+Elliot Grey According to Google, the answer is no. :(
+Elliot Grey That's the best one I've heard yet! No, he's not. :0)
I came
lovely es 275 natural
Ah... 144p, we meet again
+CharcoaI Should be in HD soon!
+Andertons Music Co Damn, there I was thinking the new Memphis range was all pixel-finished! :P
Gibson Memphis stuff is great
He really loves Pelham Blue
It's a beautiful colour.
Pete is gonna spend ALL his money at this stand
That 345..drool
the pearlescent 335 iss sexy as fuck! btw google spell check doesn't think that pearlescent is a word.
Duane Allman red ES!
I find it pretty upsetting that you have to get up to the very top of the range before they pay attention to the pots. It's really not that big of an expense. I've changed all of the harnesses in all my gibsons with great results. If you're gonna charge even $1000, the electronics should be on point. I love gibsons wood working and they make beautiful guitars, but I find the electronics to be the weak point
Yo, you boffins at Gibson, how 'bout doing an ES Les Paul special with P-90 pickups?
This is Sad, Gibson Memphis was so cool and appreciated and now it’s gone
errr...the black one is not a normal les paul, right?
From an aesthetic point of view, those f-holes are far too big on the les paul. Perfect for the other larger-bodied guitars. But if a Les Paul has a noticeably smaller body, common sense dictates that the f hole should be smaller too.
At 11:17 a wild Greg Koch appears!
+Noah Nelson lol
Nobody going to say anything about the "okay" at 0.52....
Wondered why my new Les Paul smelt of caramel and now I know.
Gibson Nashville should look at this guy for an example. Memphis seems to be getting better, without getting more expensive, heck, they even come across less expensive.
Meanwhile, Nashville's thinking: 'you know what players want? useless f*cking gimmicks, lesser woods and higher prices'. A regular 2016 R9 (4k+) has the same specs as the 2k- Les Paul std. had before '10.
"Welcome to andertons" haha
A much needed break from the insane clown duo.
He kinda sounds like Sully from Monsters Inc.
wow, a semi hollowed guitar sounds quite different to solid bodied guitar when played unplugged. who knew?! WTF!!??
Why do they do black binding :(
Racist
+inYourFace Black binding is also binding!
10:35... #want!
Re: Es-275: "That sounds jazzy to me..." LOL!!!!
Well, despite the cluelessness, Gibson FINALLY came out with modern jazz guitar... Hooray, and welcome to the 21st century!
So why did it take like, JAPAN, to inspire production of this? What are actual pro jazz players in the States... Chopped liver? Jeez!!!
Btw, this guitar has a laminate top, and a 15" lower bout- Essential details which are arguably more accurate/descriptive than saying it's 10% smaller than an L5, with it's 17" lower bout (...How come nobody just says/lists those proper specs online yet?)
Why can't the rest of Gibson be like the Memphis guys?
I know there's a fair degree of marketing spin going on (He's trying to sell product here after all!), but any time he talks about upgrading something, it's in a way that serves to make what's already there, better, rather than adding bells & whistles no one asked for.
How to sell less for more (tm).
Rich not Chris
...and the Memphis line is better than the USA line in quality.
Chris Robinson? Stone the crowes Mike, Rich won't like that...
Horrorfied maple?
"A lot of work" bullshit and y'all know it
