Farmer Does Forks Olympic Peninsula Winter 2018

In February of 2018, we had our friend and owner of Midnight Sun Custom Flies, Jonathan Farmer, down from the great frozen north of Alaska. Combining his visit with a birthday steelheading trip for one of our owners James Iwase seemed like a no-brainer, so we all blasted out that direction with smiles and high hopes. Many lessons were learned on that trip. 1)Jonathan Farmer is an absolute kick in the pants to fish with. 2)Scouting side channels at dusk is the way to go, before choosing a route. 3)Our Ops Manager, James Millard, can’t row to save his life. And 4)We would definitely have our work cut out for us trying to teach him………..
All in all it was a complete and unqualified success, with our guest landing a nice hen to add the proverbial cherry on top. Not that it was needed to make our trip, but it sure helped!
