So good. I saw the discussion below about length. I think your videos are the perfect length. You get right to the fishing with nice simple voiceovers or just music. No time wasted watching someone cook breakfast or drive to the river or launch the boat like so many other fly fishing videos. And your videography and editing is pure art. Nobody comes close!
Here in Alaska all the rainbows in our rivers are native, not hatchery fish and Alaska dept of fish and game regulations says all native rainbows must be released! Only ones are stocked our found in a few lakes up here.
@@TroyOttosen-jg7tt that’s not true. I’m reading the 2024 regulations, and it’s more specific for different areas, but I’m seeing an annual limit of 2 20 inches or larger, or 2 a day/ 2 in possession and only one may be 20 inches or larger. That’s for lakes and ponds. For flowing waters it’s catch and release April 15-June14. And im just on this one page for this one area. I haven’t looked through the whole booklet yet of the regulations. And I grew up/live here in Anchorage, AK.
Hello Todd? How are you? In every fly fishing trip video that you produce, there is always something new and very interesting to watch and as a beginner content creator I get the inspiration so I need to watch it several times. A good video with a duration of 11:42 feels very short. Awesome isn't it?!
Thanks! So you think longer films would be better? Many times I'm stuck with tough fishing, so to keep the films flowing short is sweeter than long and drawn out.
Todd Moen rescued a mundane moment of my life with another epic video. I like catching rainbows but have never netted one this huge. Caught my pb brown trout this year. Can’t wait to catch another one (or watch another Catch Magazine video).
Loved the Kvich. We used to call some of those bows "land locked steelhead". Some of the fish are pure chrome and have larger fins with no spots below the lateral line. They look just like a steelhead frezh from the ocean some even have lice. They only come into tbe river to feed on occasion. The largest I held was a touch over 18 pounds.
Hey Todd , love the video as per usual. I’m planning a trip to Bristol bay next fall . Where you guys using 5 wt trout Spey Rods or were you guys swing 5/6 full Spey rods ? I appreciate any feedback
Thank you! Bears were around but we didn’t see any on this trip. Just tracks. Many times when your in a jet boat for a week, the noise of those engines will spook the wildlife. They are close by but just far enough into the bush that you don’t see them. Thanks for watching! Appreciate it.
Not too many bears down there. Not optimal habitat. Used to guide the Kvichak. We’d see a few but nothing like some of the smaller rivers where the fishing is easier for the bears.
Aesteticaly nice... but little bit strange to see a fisherman using the spey when there is more than enough room behind. Thanks for your great filming!
It does look strange but it’s not really about that in these situations, it’s about being able to punch the line across a huge river and cover tons of water.
I've been using a trout spey setup for river smallies here in the Great Lakes and it is a RIOT. I can fish a two hander all year, even when it's too hot for salmonids. Great piece, Todd. These anglers seem like my kind... absolutely fucking _deranged._
You're doing it all wrong. You don't even have your free hand stuffed in your pocket to complete the Spey fishing pose. Do you even spey bro? 😂😅 Actually..thank you!!

Thank you so much for this! I really appreciate the feedback! 👍
Aww yeah! Another epic production TMoen!
Thanks man!!!👍
une vidéo magnifique !!!! la beautée des paysages et en accord avec les truites d'alaska ....
Thank you!!!
Fantastic. Tight lines 🏴
Thanks Keith!
Please tell me Todd Moen got to swing up at least one Kvichak Rainbow! The drool factor was off the charts on this video!
Thanks for watching! No fishing for me. Just work. When the weather doesn't cooperate and fishing is tough it makes it even harder to get things done.
Looks like you on the D.
Best fly fishing videos BY FAR. My dream is to one day have Todd Moen document my fishing one day 😁
Thanks! Silver Creek? Still haven't filmed there...
Lol!
AMAZING VIDEO
Thanks so much!!!
superb technic, superb fisherman...super vidz as always
Thank you!

For some reason the high definition sounds of water stand out to me in this one…dripping, flowing, splashing…wonderful..thanks
I appreciate that feedback more than you realize!!! Thanks so much for watching!
Incredible!
Beautiful production. Your videos never disappoint!
Thanks!
😂always great videos,l feel like I'm there too! Keep them coming.....
Thanks very much!
Gracias por el esfuerzo que hacen, muy buen contenido!!
Thank you very much. Appreciate that!
I still can’t imagine going out fishing just to catch and release. Those fish were definitely great keepers and would have made great meals.

All these cool places you film in make me want to go fish somewhere other than the Wisconsin Driftless
WoW, what a great filming ! Just want to be there with my rod 💯
Really appreciate it!
Bellissimo video. Bravi...Bravi...

Short and long videos, it doesn't matter to me because there is heart in doing it so that it produces work that is worth watching👍
@@MancingTanago I appreciate that!!!
Great Video! ❤
Thank you!!!
Wow fantastico❤❤!!!

I need to get over your way Tony. You're correct about that. Thanks for watching, really appreciate it!
Good video. The Nak has the 30’s you’re looking for. At Alaska Rainbow lodge. No Pebble Mine
This video has definitely made me want to level up my trout spey fishing - great video Todd!
Hey thanks Dan! Appreciate it!
amazing

Awesome video. Which weight rods were you using? Thanks.
Awesome!
What weight two handers for Alaskan trout fishing like this, 6wt? A 10lb rainbow could easily require a 7wt as well. Curious about rod setups.
Thanks for watching. We were using 7wt R.L. Winston Spey Rods in this one. Actually had one 8wt with us...
Nice ONE!!!
I love skawala they're definitely making a name for themselves I love my fusion 3/2 puff it gets the job done in the harshest Oregon conditions
I agree, Their waders took a beating in Alaska this summer and didn't get any leaks at all. I beat them up really good, still working great.

So sick!! When can we watch “Katmai” on your UA-cam channel?
its time~~~~~~~~~~cheers
wow🎣
NZ = Mecca of Fly Fishing
This video was 🔥🔥🔥. Did you guys see many bears? I always hear about the bears in Alaska. You guys looked like you were having fun!

@@qdowling that’s good to know. I hope to visit Alaska one day. Thanks!

some of use are just too addicted to two handed rods.
It does look strange but it’s not really about that in these situations, it’s about being able to punch the line across a huge river and cover tons of water.
Not strange at all, it's becoming very popular for more reasons than just backcasting space. It's more fun, simple as that!
See how much fun it is to cast a heavily weighted sculpin pattern with a single hand rod in the wind
7:20 thank you that we did not see the fish :-D
I'f this vid doesn't get tha juices flowin, you need to check your pulse. You may not have one.
Love it. Thanks for watching!
I would use a small sinker and a live worm with a size 6 hook.
No Pebble Mine! No barbed hooks for our belowed steelhead!
