  • This vinyl siding mounting kit by Arlington, makes installing an exterior box super easy. You don't even need to add an electrical box since the unit is designed to be it's own junction box. I'm not sponsored by them - just love the product.

Don't ask me how or why I found this video/your channel but great video! Audio quality was great and the video was dead simple and easy to follow. Keep it up! Will be checking out some of your other videos about the shed.

just a note for people, when using a volt stick, prove test prove. Prove its working on a known live circuit, test what you want to test, then prove again on a known live circuit to confirm the volt stick is still working. Ive had it before on big cables where Ive proved my meter was working, tested a cable, then went to prove again and my meter had stopped working. Retested the cable only to find out it was live. The LED light on the volt stick doesnt mean its functioning properly, it just means theres still juice in the batteries.

When using ANY electrical tester this is the correct procedure

@@JustHazardous yes, but im referring to this video where he used a volt stick. Im not going to start going on about multimeters, insulation resistance testers etc when not relevant

What brand is that particular mount?

Does this mounting block come in colors besides white? My siding is khaki (tan colored). Thanks.

I haven't seen any Khaki ones from this brand.

@@EveryotherKarlThat’s too bad. That’s the only one piece box/block I’ve seen that will fit on Dutch lap siding. Would you happen to know of any others? Thanks for the reply.

What did you screw into? Just vinyl siding?

Screwed into the OSB wall sheathing behind the siding.

FYI- the instructions say if you’re screwing into at least 1/2” sheathing, you don’t need to screw into a stud. My shed wall is 7/16” and I’m going to reinforce the area behind the block with a 2x4 or something so the screws have more to bite into.

The best option is to not install an outdoor light at all. Your neighbors will appreciate it

Pretty much agree, but an outdoor light can be quite handy. Any outside lights I have are controlled by a switch, no motion activation or dusk-to-dawn crap. They go on if I need them and back off as soon as I'm done.
