A world premiere trailer revealed Nikoderiko, an all-new mascot platformer with nostalgic side-scrolling sensibilities. It’s coming soon to PC and consoles.
For some reason I thought they are lions. As a fan of The Lion King, I instatly felt hyped. But well, mongooses blong to feliformia too, so I wasn't that wrong. xD Maybe I'll play it when it's released, but not sure yet. The protagonists are so cute! ;)
This is the most early 90s thing I've ever seen, not in gameplay or graphics but in general vibe and design. I could totally see those two main characters getting their own show on the Disney Afternoon back in the day and turning even more kids into furries as adults.
Which is an interesting mixture, as most people don't like modern day games, and prefer to play games from the 1990's. So mixing a genre of games people hate with a genre of games people love.

The designs are really well done, but this feels like it's missing the edge, the attitude of characters like Crash or a Sly Cooper. As a cartoon guy, I hope it's good.
Why would it be missing something theyre not going for? Agree it is missing that edge though, feels like they would be bumbling through areas while the baddies be actual characters.
The cinematics definitely feel ... lacking in character "personality animation" compared to Sly Cooper and friends, and that's not (entirely) subjective so much as it is just a subtle thing to notice specifically.
@Stratelier yeah, it feels way more in the yooka lalee camp vs the crash or sly camp where the good guys were a little bad. They had some of that bugs and daffy flawed character edge. This is more care bears.
Interesting that when it shows the available consoles one just says "Nintendo" and not Switch specifically. Maybe trying to say its coming for Switch successor but they didn't wanted to spoil the console's name?
It specifically mentions the Switch in the fine print at the bottom, but you're right that this is potentially intended to be released on both the old and new system.
If the AAA won't make the game people want, someone will. They can cry "omg it's just crash bandicoot and we copyright that corner of the market" but if they won't do anything with it, they don't deserve it.
I would say it's a launch title for Nintendo's next console, but it's coming out this year. Nintendo's next console supposed to be coming out next year.

Nikoderiko looks like a good old game in the styles of klonoa, crash, sonic, donkey kong, threats of fate dewprism and dragon valor, it looks very magical as the name in the title is fun and hopefully with considerable difficulty for children and adults and looks very familiar, I hope they release a game in this style and feel with themes and characters like saiyki journey west from ps1 and oriental legends igs pgm2, this type of game and characters are also great mascots for consoles, and that it comes out for portable devices like the nintendo switch, beautiful trailer, game and video, Brazil. in terms of what we're seeing this is what we've been missing for a while now In terms of controls we need to wait and see on that part because its familiar in the terms of feeling like good old DKC and Crash games But we need good controls to be able to play it for it to truly be good
I LOVE it! This game just looks fun! Colorful, fun looking, character based platformers are making a come back. I can't wait to see more on this. I am loving the style and character designs. Just added it to my wishlist on Steam :)
I am so excited for this game! This has fun written all over it in big letters, and the Donkey Kong/Crash Bandicoot vibes are incredibly strong, two franchises I very much enjoy. I actually like this a lot. Platformers as a genre has been overlooked for so many years now so seeing a game about the playstyle with fresh, original characters? I feel like a kid back in the late 90's again when Spyro, Banjo Kazooie and Crash Bandicoot were all the rage!

I mean it's pretty much yet another game that has gameplay designs of classic early 2000s platformers. Only other thing I can say about this is that I think the species rivalry is cute, the protagonists being mongooses and the bad guys being snakes and maybe some other reptiles.

It's Crash Bandicoot mixed with some elements from Donkey Kong Country with the art style of Crash 4.

It is wonderful to see someone make a fun platformer game again. I miss those, so nostalgic, a wave of chill and stress all at once.
