Gary its 2021, & I am still a fan of yours. I just loved Gary Lewis & The Playboys. You sound the same & even better. You made the 60's Great. All the very best to you.
It cannot be denied that we're getting old but your style Gary Lewis remains intact. Your song Tina gave way to find a woman that later binds her with me. Thanks.
Played a couple of You Tube videos of his songs to my Primary School students ..... they loved them .... especially Everybody Loves A Clown. Great talent still attracting admirers.
We do "Just My Stlye" as an Acoustic Duo. But in the right age range, they get it! Thank you Gary for the music you gave us all in a time of innocence!
A couple of times a year over the past TEN years I would get some tune stuck in my head. All I knew was that it was an oldie and knew it was something I had heard in my childhood. The best I could do was hum some of the chorus and even that would come and go. I hummed it for different people to no avail and would play the oldies stations and listen for hours hoping it would come on with no luck. Then one day, while the tune happened to be in mind, I hummed it for my brother over a FaceTime call, and within a couple of minutes he came up with Count Me In by Gary Lewis and The Playboys. 10 years of this song haunting me finally came to an end. It’s a great song and will always be special to me.
WOW - WOW - WOW - tremendous talent here - GARY LEWIS sounds as young as he did back when he recorded this in the mid sixties- I remember his vocals chops way back then when I first heard HIM and the Playboys - very good- the band is also on the money - listen to that piano - it is exactly the way the late , great LEON RUSSELL played it on the original recording ! ! ! ! !
So a week ago lat Friday, we did a Gary Lewis and the Playboys (on my suggestion) and the crowd (5 people) knew the song. Then they started heckling me so I sand all the songs I know from the era. Gee, you need to come to my "bitchin' kitchen" and hand out. I bet we know I know all your songs and some of the songs that inspired you. I love this video! God Bless the old school music and all of the folks that made it. I'm a PoP music girl, livin' in an old world!
This was my childhood music..I think Gary Lewis and the playboys were one the most under rated groups...They had a plethora of great, feel good hits...Good stuff!!!
Not sure what happened tonmy post, but I am definitely going to re-post. I had the pleasure of meetings and talking with Gary after his performance at a local ( Cooperstown NY and the ⚾️ Hall of Fame are close by) fair several years ago. He was very personable, pleasant, and very down to earth. Everyone danced and had a great time. He stayed and chatted after the concert. What an exceptional evening. A bunch of us probably would have gone out afterwards, but it was late and we had to drive home. Great memories for this senior citizen👍Would love to see him in concert again. Thank u for the upload. And thanks to Gary and the Playboys for the music and memories👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I always equate this song with the great Summers when KIDS were not afraid of Clowns, & "Stealing a kiss" was not "Sexual assault" ,I personally ,still get a positive charge from these songs !.................See you in Sept!
This is the best footage from a concert I'd seen on youtube. Picture is clear and sound is fantastic! Job well done. I thought I was actually there when it was recorded at the Indiana State Fair in August of 2013. It was 2 years ago but it looked like a live feed. Thank you so much!
Dec 31 , 2022 still love this song. Got the album that this song and Everybody Loves A Clown was on. Like Jerry said in an interview back in the 80's , he was shocked when he came back from Nam and found out musical tastes had changed . Groups like Led Zeppelin were in , he took it hard. He hit the drugs for 2 years . Straightened himself out. I liked his music , never into Zeppelin . I hope he is still in good health. And he defended our country . Thank you Jerry .
An interesting aspect concerning GL is that he came along after the American era in pop music was largely over(1963 was the final year). Yet he still had many hit songs containing music that was similar to that previous time. He was not alone in having success with that type of music but few vocalists did all of their pop music after the era ended. If GL reads this blog I would like to hear his reaction. It is a pleasure to listen to his music and voice.
I heard dad Jerry say in Vietnam he was somewhere eating. A friend close to him was shot and some of that guys brain ended up in his food. I didn't know he sold so many records good music. Thank Gary.
Gary Lewis & The Playboys need to be inducted into the 2022 Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. He deserves recognition, yes he's old now but the Guy has talent. He was the bands drummer. Then played some guitar and lead singer. His other band members weren't too bad either. Give credit where it is due!
@@willzimjohn I like their records too. SOme good songwriting there and good people playing on them. You can't beat his success on sales and on the charts.
@@willzimjohn Very true !!! "The Wrecking Crew" did perform the instrumentals and singer Ron Hicklin overdubbed Gary Lewis.. If you listen to this, realize that Gary lewis singing is better than the 1960's and a record would never have sold. FYI, this "concert" has a prerecorded instrumental track.. Instruments that are not visible are being played..
Gary was pretty big back in 1965...listen to his string of musical accomplishments! He's a very nice guy who lived under the shadow of his famous, SELFISH father Jerry Lewis! Seems to have lost his voice a bit, but I still love his songs!
I am 71. Always loved Gary Lewis
Gary seems to be having fun. He has always been my favorite .Keep the sound alive , as long as you can .
Gary I am still watching this video 🌈🌈🌈🤍🌻🍓refreshes my innermost heart very sweet and loving your music that much .🌹
Great song - great artist - great memories man at 69 I remember this with a smile.
Gary its 2021, & I am still a fan of yours. I just loved Gary Lewis & The Playboys. You sound the same & even better. You made the 60's Great. All the very best to you.
Wonderful concert from Gary Lewis
Great concert Gary!
Thank you for serving our country!
idiot , he only served your evil masters like a good robot slave sheep and in turn their master satan
Bob Saturday meth is a helluva drug
He was stationed in a non combat area of Korea, not Vietnam...
@@1953childstar It was for the Vietnam War. What's your problem?
To this day, 2019, I still have every album, of his.I play them often.❤️
Love your music Gary! Thank you for your service to our country!
He was in a non combat situation in South Korea...
@1953childstar It was during the Vietnam War. He was drafted in 1967, so he did serve.
One of my favorite songs, since I first heard it when i was still in high school. More power to you, Gary & the Playboys!
nobody was playing keyboards but its through the whole song..(key inst. in the song)..must have been pre recorded
What does he win Johnny?😎

Always loves your musics not even a day I dreamed of all that is contained lyrics in your musics every word is lovable thank you 🍓🍓👑💯
This is wonderful seeing Gary Lewis still going strong…… he did indeed make his Dad (Jerry Lewis) very proud of him right from the start……
both are great
EDITH SYMMANS Couldn’t have gotten along with dad, because just read he was excluded from the will, along with all his brothers. That is nasty.
EDITH SYMMANS Except he was taken out of his daddy’s will.
So much so that he wrote him out of the will. So very proud!

I don't know who I am more surprised to hear from, Gary Lewis or Shadow Stevens.

he had good songs as they were upbeat and singable !!
Good band they really made it to the big time, Jerry's son
Keep in mind, the bulk of the musicians on their records were the legendary Wrecking Crew.
@@writer62951 Oh I don't know, don't study that, so the band you mentioned plus Gary Lewis together made the music? and they were named the play boys?
@@writer62951 Plus, Ron Hicklin overdubbed Gary Lewis voice...

Well, The instrumentals were done ( in the 1960's ) by "The Wrecking Crew" and Gary Lewis was overdubbed by singer Ron Hicklin..
@@1953childstar Not all of it. It was common for Wrecking Crew to do solos, including the Beach Boys.
