Love the Yamaha F1 engine. Could have done so much better with just a bit more money backing its development.
I was so disappointed when Damon Hill narrowly missed winning in Hungary 97, in the Yamaha powered Arrows. So close!

Yeah I was bummed too when I was watching Hungary 1997. Would have been the first victory for Bridgestone, Arrows and Yamaha.....

Maybe Toyota sometime, however my personal interest lies in the 70s 80s and 90s 🤗

@@ClassicFormulaOne1 Considering the close relationship between Toyota and Yamaha regarding road cars I wonder how much of Toyota's F1 effort was Yamaha.

    • @ClassicFormulaOne1

@@MrGoogelaar I do not know very much about Toyota's F1 project except that it costed a few billions and not much results in return 😁

@@ClassicFormulaOne1 Yes it was definitely not a success, I just wonder whether Yamaha had a hand in the whole exercise, seeing that they build quite a couple of good engines together forroad cars.
Would be interesting to know why Toyota could not do better than they did in F1, at least money was not the issue.

I had an FZ750 back in the day that boasted 5 valves per cylinder, I guess the idea was to get more inlet area around the circumference of three valves compared to two. The three inlet valves possibly caused compromises in other areas, maybe combustion chamber shape hence Yamaha dropping the 5 valve design on later bikes/engines.
