Here's hoping the 100% sustainable fuels leads us back into more cylinders. V10s would probably be too sophisticated a system to manage with today's tech, but V8s I can see.

Those V10's were PAINFUL at that distance, as they were right at the top of the rev range, before changing down approx 75yards further down the track. Standing there without earplugs was definitely an experience. Not one I'd like to repeat - even then, it was bloody expensive compared to other race meets, and I'm pretty convinced the whistle I have in my right ear came from that day. Alesi's 1995 Montreal victory, wasn't the first for Ferrari after 5 years cause Scuderia had already won the year before with Gerhard Berger in Germany (no google)
The fia making v10s mandatory was lobbied for by the teams, as Toyota was preparing to join the sport with a v12, and the teams were woried that it would be the class of the field I guess kinda a shame
One of the reasons I fell in love with F1 in 97/98 was that beautiful sound(as well as those red Ferraris and great rivalry between them and mclaren). Too bad f1 has lost its balls and is going the green hippy way..
Whilst the sound was nice, the actual racing during most of the V10 era happened in the pits. Several races in the late 1990s and early 2000s had fewer than 10 overtakes throughout the entire field. The number of races that were won through an overtake was minuscule.
Hearing all of the team names makes you realize how much smaller the modern field is. Quite sad how this sport is shrinking simply because of the costs to race nowadays
Throughout history, when Ferrari complained it was in retrospect usually unjustified. However, with the CVT and fixed RPM, I'm happy they did. Imagine a whole feed of cars going "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGH" for two hours straight... Thanks Ferrari!
I may be huffing a bit of hopium but what if... with the new sustainable fuels F1 can help transition the world to those fuels, then bring back V10s and thereby showcase V10s don't have to harm the environment and help bring back larger engines in road cars. Then bam! Literally everyone wins and is happy. Chances are low but one can dream... 😭
I never understood the whole "F1 is road relevant" explanation for the current V6 hybrids, when has an open wheeler with exotic materials, wacky aerodynamics and, mostly, large cylinder count engines ever been "road relevant"? Must have missed all those V10 powered Renault road cars back in the 1990s! 😂
Simple physics, more mass more energy to dissipate/accelerate with inertia. Keep safety as a maxim but please get the weight down. Small, nimble, powerful but safety first. F1 should remain at the forefront of tech but remember that it is not purely a commercial enterprise but also a spectator sport.
what if you would pull an HITC Sevens move and just like he did it with footballers, you could go in alphabetical order with every country on Earth and say who is the best Formula 1 driver
It's not enough to just bring back V10s, we need engines that can rev beyond the anemic 12,500RPM range, which is the 2nd RPM nerf the FIA made after the first nerf in 2009 that reduced the rev range from 18,000RPM to 15,000RPM. Of course, 8 and 10 cylinders can get away with running lighter pistons to allow them to scream up to 18,000RPM, so there is a big risk that a V6T Hybrid that screams at nearly 15,000RPM would be less reliable. For the curious, someone made an audio clip of a current 2014-2025 F1 engine with the rev increased to 15,000RPM, and they also create that distinct high pitch scream of a 2009-2013 V8. ua-cam.com/video/PQcj41fmovs/v-deo.html
Modern engines rev to 12.5K because going above is literally pointless under current rules. You see, the current engine RPM limit is actually 15K, and reliability wouldn't be an issue. However, due to fuel flow limits, increasing the RPM is pointless, it would literally make no more power regardless of what they did to the engine.
So basically, anything good or fun/interesting results in, " It was banned after a protest from Ferrari"......what good sports! After you stated that V10s were made mandatory in 2000, I fully expected the next sentence to be, "But they were banned after a protest from Ferrari"
In my opinion they should just bring back V10 engines. I mean they are not going to save the planet with these V6 engines anyway. If they wanted to do that, they should probably just quit altogether. Besides, humping all of the trackside equipment around the globe isn't really eco friendly either. Also the fans love the sound of the V10 engines. Hamilton once said that it's the best sound in motorsports.

I love V10's so much, I bought one. 🥰
Hearing all of the team names makes you realize how much smaller the modern field is. Quite sad how this sport is shrinking simply because of the costs to race nowadays
The V10 yeara where the years where you could hear and feel the speed.
Now the v8 era
Throughout history, when Ferrari complained it was in retrospect usually unjustified. However, with the CVT and fixed RPM, I'm happy they did. Imagine a whole feed of cars going "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGH" for two hours straight...
Thanks Ferrari!

Editing could be better. I would've made this epic with less talk more engine sound
41:28 Don't mean to be that guy, but that's a v8
Literally every F1 fan misses the V10s. The golden era of F1.
@@Arsenic71 I hope every F1® fan not forget about V8s although no one can beat V10s.

Definitely the best F1 era ever.
These modern engines are also very heavy.
Car go vroom vroom
could you make the HITC seven idea come true?
Simple physics, more mass more energy to dissipate/accelerate with inertia. Keep safety as a maxim but please get the weight down. Small, nimble, powerful but safety first. F1 should remain at the forefront of tech but remember that it is not purely a commercial enterprise but also a spectator sport.
Please do not change the title 🙏
Now, I love my V10s, but that Ferrari V12 is something special 🥲
So is it Michelin, or Michelain?
The FIA wanted quieter cars so they could race at more street circuits IMO !!!!
Much as I remember the old V10 engines fondly, give me reliability and efficiency every time.
I would have an excellent video idea
what if you would pull an HITC Sevens move and just like he did it with footballers, you could go in alphabetical order with every country on Earth and say who is the best Formula 1 driver
Engagement!
12.44 Alesi’s win the first in 5 years? What about Berger’s win in 94?

Bring back the fucking v12s
In my opinion they should just bring back V10 engines. I mean they are not going to save the planet with these V6 engines anyway. If they wanted to do that, they should probably just quit altogether. Besides, humping all of the trackside equipment around the globe isn't really eco friendly either. Also the fans love the sound of the V10 engines. Hamilton once said that it's the best sound in motorsports.
@@LaCorvette I hope everyone not forget about V8 although no one can beat V10.
The V10's is the best era in F1. The sounds are heavenly. :)
I agree with you 🙂💯👍💪!. V10 Power 💪😎!.
