Redarc TowPro Elite V3 -Do you need the Redarc wiring loom and switch blank? N70 Hilux install 05-15

There's lots of videos covering the Redarc TowPro Elite V3 and installing them.
Many, if not most, include the use of the Redarc optional wiring loom (vehicle specific) and even the blanking plates for the Redarc brake controller switch.
But do you really need these accessories?
The switch blank isn't a great deal of money, but the looms can be expensive.
In some cases - like the PX series of Ford Rangers - you reportedly need the loom, but for everything else, is it really worth the money?
