I installed mine yesterday using your video, this was such a help, didn’t even need to look at the instructions! You should be sponsored by Redarc

Thanks for the video, without it I would have taken twice as long and the result would not have been as good as it is.

Probably the most detailed "how to" on the internet. Well done and thanks.

Just picked up a 2016 150 series to replace my 2000 90 series, this will be a great help to install my brake controller into the new car.

G'Day mate, that's a great video, it serves so many purposes for us whom have been wondering what's behind those panels and how to get them off, now I know what's there I can install my UHF main unit up in that space or even try removing the card holder to see if it fits and run the wires. cheers for great DIY instructions!

Awesome video! Made it so much easier. Did you get an error code on the dash about “Pre crash system malfunction”? If so, how did you fix it? TIA

thanks for posting a very detailed video. did the diode assembly position under the rear of the vehicle? exposed?

Thanks for watching. The diode is is under the rear of the vehicle about 30cm from the trailer plug. It is up quite high and i wouldn't say exposed, also the quality of the plug and wiring looks like it will stand the test of time.

Do I need a 12 pins trailer plug or can I use the standard 7 pin plug to connect to the trailer?

How necessary is the diode? I'm not going to cough up $215 for a loom with basically 2 wires in it, the only thing I'm not sure of is what that diode actually achieves. Going into a 100 series.

Probably not as necessary on a 100 Series as you wont have as much electronics to protect. It is recommended later model cars with Driver Aids like Adaptive Cruise and Emergency Braking that will cause events where the brakes get applied automatically and will turn on the brake lights, so the brake light signal generally comes from a Electronic Control Unit. The Diode prevents 12v back feed to these Control Units if you manually press the Redarc Dial to bring the Trailer Brakes on but will still activate the Brake Lights on the trailer. I previously had a earlier 150 Series without the Diode and worked fine with no damage, but with all the added gear on the later model I went with the safer option. Also got a good deal as I purchased both the Tow-Pro and wiring kit together.

Insulate it. It does not connect to anything.

      Terminated and not used.

Very descriptive video, thank you, just one question, what happened to the original blue wire in the trailer plug, was it terminated or joined to the new blue from the Redarc.
