Grommets, Rivets & Hand Presses - Bag Making

- In this video, I'll chat about the tools I've used to install rivets and grommets/eyelets including hand tools and a hand press. As with all things in bag making, there's lots of different ways to do things so this might not be your preferred method, I'm just showing what I do. If you've got a recommendation for a good supplier for parts or any other techniques you'd recommend then add a comment! PLEASE read the safety information at the bottom before watching the video.
WHERE I GOT MY HAND PRESS
I got my rivet press from wish.com, however this made it complicated to buy die sets that fit so I'd recommend the following sellers instead, based on recommendations I've heard from others:

CUTTING DIES
I purchased my cutting dies and cutting tool set from dreamybaghardware.com.au/prod... and I bought the "brass flat plates" and the "24 box cutter set".

It’s from “Made by Piera”. It used to be available from Sewhot in the UK and Tops & Bobbins in the USA but neither have it in stock anymore 😔
Thankyou for doing this. Just wondering if you have a problem with the vinyl pulling away from the grommet. I'm finding even a little but if a stretch in the fabric it will pull away from grommet.
Hi Suzie. I haven’t experienced that problem but I’ve only ever used grommets in bags with Rex vinyl (from Mora) and with cork and neither of them have much stretch so that might be why 🤔
Have you tried adding some peltex in between the fabrics just where the grommet is, to stabilise it and stop it from stretching?
@@CountryCowDesigns I think it might be the grommets. I've used Rex too & have problem on that. Going to change supplier.
Yeah it could be that 🤔 dodgy hardware has a lot to answer for 😆 it makes life so much harder sometimes

I am when I’m hand setting them but recently I had a bad batch of rivets that kept cracking when I set them with the press (don’t buy cheap rivets!) but I can tell you for sure they won’t pop off easily 😂 it took me forever to get them off!
