It's not enough to thank you. I am searching the entire web for anykind of tips but I just ended up scrolling the whole time yesterday for my speaking test. I really hope if had seen your speaking test video too. My other exams are tommorow and the strategies you told are somehow efficient when I tried it. This video in general boosted my confidence of scoring full. Thanks @Teacher Phill for sharing us a valuable resource.
thank you so much i had my Cambridge Reading and Use of English test yesterday it went very well because almost all the questions were in this video which i watched the day before. Tomorrow I have the listening test
@@teacherphillno it is not an official exam it is something my high school did in the Netherlands to see if your english is good enough to do Cambridge if you gave yourself up for it there around 30 people who want to do it but i think only around 15 people get in.
Great video, Tysm teacher phill! You broke down the Reading and Use of English section in a way that actually makes sense. Definitely feeling more prepared now 🌟 Appreciate it soo muchh😄 teacher what order of parts that u think will work the best?
Thank you for your kind feedback. :) I think you need to find the order that works best for you. Try a few practice tests to see what your strengths and weaknesses are and then decide how you want to go about it.
Thank you for the excellent video that thoroughly explained everything. I now understand how to approach the FCE with ease. I only have one request. You mentioned Word Families and showed a table of the word "USE" in your video. Do you have a pdf file with all the words and their families, like the one you showed?
Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, the English language has thousands of words so it would take me years and years to create such a PDF. Sorry.
i've followed FCE B2 test last month and i didn't pass the test my reading test was A2 and i was totally dissapointed and i just found ur video tips made me so sacrified why i didn't find u before the day of my test :((
Thank you so much it will help me a lot in the fce exam tomorrow, i want to ask something to you. In 13:13, at first i answered joan thought it would be a great idea to go to the museum. Does it matter if i say similar words?
It depends. In your specific example, I think it works even though if you are in favour of something, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are super excited about it, so 'great' might be too strong a word. I could see you getting two full marks for your answer as well, though. :)
@@teacherphill i failed because of the superwiser they gave us. i have at least 5 mistakes in listening just because of him. Do you know if i can make objection and if i can where do i submit it?
Cambridge exams are recognised by many institutions, for example, governments, universities or different companies. That means that you can prove your English level if you want to study a degree or if you want to apply for a visa in an English-speaking country. Not everyone needs to do one, but having a certificate that proves your level of English can be very useful.
@@teacherphill sir I am now15 years old and I hav completed all the ones until PET, I have a passes for all, now doing the FCE and the first 2 parts in the reading paper is hard for me a little , can you please tell how to improve in that part please
Thank you very much for your help, I'd have a question regarding the answer sheet though. Do I have to only transfer the things I've written on the original paper, the entire sentence or maybe something else? I really don't want to make any mistakes and lose points here.
Don't worry too much. On the answer sheets, there are very clear instructions on how to fill it in, and if you have doubts, you can ask the invigilators who are in the room with you. :)
Thanks, this is a really useful video. Do you mind if I ask where you're from? I'm assuming from your accent that you're German, as opposed to Austrian or Swiss.
Danke schön! Schade dass ich das video vor der Prüfung nicht gesehen habe, ich war biserl im prüfungszentrum schockiert dass Armbanduhr während der ganze Prüfung im Wartezimmer gesperrt werden muss. Ich habe kein smartwatch, aber das spielt keine Rolle, Armbanduhr muss draußen bleiben
You would say, "My exam is in exactly one month. How many correct answers do I need in order to pass?" For Reading and Use of English, you need 24 marks in Reading and 18 marks in Use of English. As you can get two marks for a correct answer in some of the tasks, I can't really tell you how many correct answers you need.
The problem is that your answers are checked by a machine so it is possible that it can't read them if the letters are cursive, but I guess you have to wait and see.
Then don't worry about it and make sure that you get high marks in all the other parts. Remember that the average of all the papers is important, not the individual scores.
Hello, can you please tell me what was the paper for answers for RUE looked like? Had it any descriptions which part related to which type of exam? Were those papers separated? Like one for reading and another for UOF?
2:00 This is wrong. you cannot divide the time of the exam by 7 and say each part is 10 minutes. You need 15 minutes to do each part of the reading and students have to try to do the grammar in 7 minutes each part and also part one is grammar not reading as you say at 1:30 These are the only 2 contributions you have invented, the rest of your introduction you've parroted from the Cambridge guidance. I didn't watch the rest, what's the point of doing so if your introduction is so erroneous?
Part 1 belongs to Reading, not to Use of English! Please don't spread misinformation in my comments and please think before you make a fool of yourself. Thank you for not watching my videos and for leaving me and my viewers alone in the future.
@@teacherphill In 2015, the old Paper 1 Reading was incorporated with the old Paper 3 Use of English into a new Paper 1 Reading and Use of English. Just look at any First certificate book published prior to 2015. Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 were from the old Use of English and parts 5, 6 and 7 were parts 1, 2 and 3 from the old Paper 1 Reading. The fact that you dont know that shows your lack of knowledge but the fact that you are teaching people is very problematic because students need to leave 15 minutes to do each part of the reading which are parts 5, 6 and 7. Otherwise they will fail.
