Austin Robertson Why would people learn that? Good game design (present in Dark Souls 1) dictates that enemies about to do an AoE attack have some kind of build-up animation. Smelter just stays there absolutely still. The flames don't intensify, there is no sound, he doesn't make any additional movements to suggest a powerful AoE attack is coming, fucking nothing until suddenly there's an explosion. While his sword is in the ground which usually suggests that he would be vulnerable, especially combined with how there is nothing to suggest he's about to do some kind of follow-up.
GARGANTUANMASKEDFISH Which you only ever have a chance to learn is a bad thing and not "Oh cool his sword is stuck, time to go pile on damage!" after you see him do the explosion at least once. It is bad design. As I said; no change in movement, no sounds, no effects to suggest an attack of some kind is coming up. And he only always does the explosion while at low health, so hanging back to try and figure it out probably won't work because until he reaches a certain damage threshold, if you are far enough away he will not do the explosion.
Jim Nantz Good design is being given no warning or hint that something is coming? Being given no indication ahead of time that something is dangerous? I guess that makes I Wanna Be The Guy the best designed game of all time, then.

One that I just saw that galls me in particular is at 0:40. The host seemed to be able to dodge reasonably well and even got away (even if just to heal) from the bullshit explosion attack, and the Smelter Demon was almost dead. If he had done something to contribute to the continuing fight (Like I don't know, one or two of those 11 lightning spears he had) the boss would have been dead. It's not like he was low on health or in imminent danger or anything!
Pretty sure the point was watching how players handled smelter.. or.. didn't handle smelter. I'm glad he didn't step in, much better video because of it.
@MGIBLaze in addition to that, everything gets a bit harder if you coop summon people, so fighting an already tough and long boss as 2 players with the difficulty setting for 3 players... kind of a dick move.
Not sure what your character name is, but I did encounter an "OnlyAfro" on the Smelter boss a day or two ago. Died within 10 seconds. I'm pretty sure it wasn't you, but regardless I'm including it in a video.
That Index guy really believes in the "fight fire with fire" proverb, huh... Smelty gave me some trouble at first. It took me three tries to beat him myself. Yeah, they're not great, but it's kinda hard to complain when you spent the entire video just standing back doing nothing except give the boss more health via being there. Though, really summoning for smelter is dumb to begin with. You want to kill him as fast as possible by doing as much damage as possible, so having a bunch of phantoms there buffing his HP and defense is the last thing you need.
Akeche You should watch DSP fight the mirror knight with spell spam. I doubt we will see cosplay builds because builds dont matter anymore thanks to soul memory.
I agree! It was funny at first and there's no denying the hosts need to stop getting scrubbed by his Wrath, but there are a good few of those fights where they would have won if Afro had even thrown a couple lightning bolts. It got just frustrating- imagine if you were the one to summon him here, and he buffs your boss's HP, doesn't help at all, then puts up a video making fun of you. Afro you are one of my favorite little girls and I love you but this video was mostly just mean.
*Mocks how bad these PC players are as he sits on the other side of the room doing nothing.* Don't lay a summon if you aren't going to assist the host.
***** stop trying to damage control your idiocy in the comments here, you're making yourself look worse. you could have just admitted you made a newbie mistake or something but you are insisting on saying it was all under control
I'm almost certain that the guy at 3:10 suffered from the Smelter Demon glitch where you're just sucked into the wall and can't get out, sometimes even hoping across the room randomly.
I thought Index would've been smart enough to know that throwing fire into a fire does not kill the first fire. Book learnin' ain't doin' nuthin' for nobody no how.
***** Dark Lurker isn't weak to dark. To be more precise, he's nowhere near as weak to dark as he is to lightning. Lightning Spear dealt more damage per hit than Great Resonant Soul. (Around 50 FTH/INT)
"hurf durf I'll just sit back and record these baddies while doing nothing but contribute more HP to the boss yes, yes they're the bad ones" epic vid bro :^)
He's clearly not doing "absolutely" nothing. A lot of these players are just lobbing projectiles on the sidelines expecting phantoms to do all the actual fighting for them. They deserve to die, honestly.
There's many unhelpful summons though, OnlyAfro isn't the only one. People need to realize that some bosses are just easier without summons, and I personally consider this to be one of them
I actually found smelter ludicrously easy, only reason it took me a second try is because I accidentally wandered upon him as full hollow and empty miracles. I mean, im not saying this to brag, but I don't understand why people have such huge issues with this guy (short of the glitch that can happen)
I went through the same thing as a sunbro trying to help people killing the Smelter Demon. Something like 15 failed attempts because the hosts died every time, sometimes before we even get to the boss.
One time someone summoned me for the belltower fight. They had a mic, and it was some russian kid, clearly 12 years old or whatever, babbling away in his prepubescent voice. I waited until he entered the fog door and then I went and watched the fight from the top of the belltower. He lasted quite a bit actually :\
That's a Genius logic that guy has. Imagine if he literally beat the Smelter Demon using a Pyromancy tho. Could be awesome! Just like in DkS1 where you use Sorcery to kill Seath which has high Defense against it, and (M)Anus.
First onlyafro video i didn't approve of. If you were helping and they still couldn't do it, sure. But you just bumped up the difficulty for them and stood there. Not exactly all their fault.
Okay, first of all, he did help in some clips, some he probably cut out. Also, even if he didn't help, having useless helpers doesn't make it much harder. For example, i beat the ancient dragon alone when 2 of my helpers died right off the bat.
I find your name, and your lack of understanding in regards to artificial difficulty, quite amusing. Outside of some exceptions, having to hit a boss a few more times doesn't mean the boss is any harder, it just means you have to hit the boss a few more times.
idonthave1111 I never mentioned artificial difficulty. And yeah, theoretically that's true if you're perfect at the game, but most people can't last a 3x longer fight without making any mistakes.
HardModeGaming I know you didn't say it, but that's what HP, Def, Atk, etc. buffs are (in this game) - they don't change the boss fight in a meaningful way. Against DPS races like the Bell Gargoyles in DkS2, or Four Kings in DkS, they can translate to a harder fight, but there are arguments for that being poor boss design.
xXPU55Y_5L@Y3R69Xx Actually it's the opposite - they're summoning because he's so easy. Takes less than two minutes for a Token of Fidelity, Sunlight Medal, or S&S stone.
And then you stand behind then doing nothing, just making the fight last longer by making the boss have more HP, when it's probably their first time trying what is one of the game's toughest fights. The video was pretty funny, but that is some serious co-op skills there bro.
MrDanteBurns I do admit he was pretty tough at first but once I got over my fear of dodging from the initial lack of I-frames in DS2 I beat him pretty easily by dodging.
IF it's their 1st playthrough then yes otherwise people just want to get through the game fast and not do the same shit over and over again for hours and hours.
levani199321 If they would have to do the same shit for hours and hours, wouldn't that still mean they're terrible? I summon two phantoms, "Welcome" them so they know what it is, then we go to town on the bosses. I watch their health bars to make sure they survive. I change my strategy and tactics based on how they play. I've watched hosts die time and again, due to them doing dumb shit. I've had people treat me as a sacrificial pawn. You can go through this comment section, and read entitled opinions like, "The host is the only one with something to lose. The phantom was summoned so that the boss gets beaten." Sorry, but my time is important to me; a summoned phantom is not your bitch. It's called jolly *cooperation* for a reason - we're there to help each other. Grinding for co-op items can be a slog. I want to help as many people as I can, through what might be a very monotonous play session for them. I summon two phantoms cause I know the struggle is real.
That's how sunbros play, they are too scared to die and miss out on a sunlight medal that they stay away from the action and watch, he's doing that on purpose as a joke.
***** Modesty is this guy's specialty! Sorry I had to say it, it just sounds extremely funny when people say something like that even if they have no intention of bragging :)
Just remembered that I watched Jojo because of that Kars laugh in this video all those years ago... afro making jojo references before they were cringe
Playing for the first time and seeing all these bloodstains near trash-mobs makes me weep internally. Please, look into your heart and quire skill. I have tears in eye right now.
Ignoring the fact that console players have just as much trouble if not more. Also, he used fireballs obviously because he needs a challenge and is not a casual like you.
It's not mages, but scrubs, that people dislike. If you want to rely solely on spells, fine, but at least be able to dodge. Dodging is a basic mechanic in this series. Being able to supplement your casting with melee is also helpful if you want to PvP.
idonthave1111 Actually a scrub is somebody that expects everybody to play by the arbitrary rules that they have set on "this is how you play the game properly".
MGlBlaze Are you trying to imply something? I'm a little worried you're the same crazy person who tried arguing with me on a Game Grumps video; because, you're doing the same crazy shit they did. You're replying to things I never said. Nothing in my comment mentions anything about how someone is supposed to play, so what the fuck are you even talking about? Edit: Furthermore, when did I give the definition of a what I thought a scrub was? You're already off in la-la land chasing imaginary butterflies from the very start of your comment.
idonthave1111 You mentioned "scrubs" and seemed to be using the term wrong, but re-reading it I might have mis-interprited what you were saying. I'm not sure.
MGlBlaze I was just saying that people should know how to use basic mechanics. Everything I stated was a suggestion. Sorry, it sounded like you were trying to imply something about me, personally, saying I was I telling people how to play.
It's even better when casters die to Smelter. They just sit back spamming their magic, and once they have to roll, their poor motor skills are their downfall
***** but you did nothing in these fights, the fact that you helped other people before doesnt change nothing. the duty of the sunbros is to help the host, even if you dont like their builds, play styles, or capabilities at playing. make solaire proud, praise the sun, grossly incandescent, etc., etc.
kratos9551 If you have one phantom when challenging a boss (any boss(, the boss has 150% of normal health. Two phantoms and the boss goes up to 200% of normal health. If you have a phantom that is doing nothing, it is actually worse than going in alone.
kratos9551 No, don't disregard that. A boss taking more hits to kill, does not equal a boss being harder. I honestly can't believe we're still having this artificial difficulty conversation in DkS2. Although I'm not a fan of sweeping insults, what you said was correct, especially if you said it with a posed look.
idonthave1111 The longer a fight goes on, the more chance there is of something going wrong. Sure you can memorise a pattern and get your timings right, but eventually you'll slip up. If the fight lasts for 2 minutes, you'll be constantly focused and able to perform to your best, the short fight means less chance of you making an error. If the fight goes on for 20 minutes, you'll get tired or lazy, you won't be concentrating as much, and you'll just end up getting cocky and trying to find ways of ending the fight earlier (sneaking in more attacks when the boss misses one). This isn't artificial difficulty, it's just difficulty, it's called being worn down.
What do you mean? You summon a red phantom because you want to kill them. It's that simple. There's no reason to assume anything else, unless you know the person or are taking part in a fight club.
Zedek if you place your summon sign in the kings passage, the mirror knight can summon you during the battle. However, every time I do so, i get summoned by a 3-man gank squad.
What I don't understand is that sometimes when you're helping people, it'll often be the same person more than once. They will still make the SAME mistakes and not change their strategy at all. I know I need the tokens of fidelity but holy shit, maybe use that part of your brain that learns things next time?
It's really difficult your first time through. The main problem I found was that I kept forgetting to heal the DOT caused by standing near him, so when he eventually hit me I got 1-shotted. Also, this boss is WAY easier if you DON'T summon phantoms, since the amount of health he gains due to phantoms is far more severe than the amount of help phantoms provide, partially due to his DOT effect which means the longer it takes you to kill him the harder he is. (If you summon a phantom who just stands around watching like Afro did in a few fights then anyone who hasn't beaten the boss before is almost guaranteed to lose due to his ridiculous health) Only phantom worth summoning is the NPC Lucatiel of Mirrah, since you need to summon her for her story line and she just acts as a super-tanky distraction.
The Smelter is a pretty big wall for newer players, I mean, think about it: Massive, AOE swings make it hard to roll Getting next to him damages you Punishes you for taking your time Almost impossible to block without the proper shield Very little space to move around in He's a difficult boss. I would say he was probably the most difficult for me personally in Dark Souls 2 when I came across him at first.
Winter Heart Belfry Gargoyles honestly weren't that hard for me for some reason. Probably because I had electricity based weapons at the time and they were weak to electricity, I dunnno.
This happens way more than it should happen. I remember my first playthrough with my intelligence build, me and another guy got summoned to help someone with the smelter demon. And while I was hitting it with soul arrows, and the other phantom was hitting it with the great club, the host just fucking stood at the back of the room and watched us fight it the whole time. And when we got it to about half health, the host decided to help by running straight into his AoE attack and get ting killed instantly. This was on ps3, so chances are people are bad on all 3 platforms.
Holy shit that sounds like my first run with the smelter demon on ps3.....i remember a guy with a club and a mage and me....running into the AoE....i didn't know about it ;-; but really i think that was me xD
Sean Pepin I understand the joke, but from a more humourless perspective I don't think they understand how the act of "fighting fire with fire" actually works.
to be fair if the magic people actually went and got real spells they would kill it. also while i agree that most of these people need to learn to play the games by them selves, if you want souls you should actually help.
Lagstabbing Fiend Maybe he figure if he helped it burned faster and it eventually run out of fuel? Or maybe he was taking "Fight Fire with Fire" a little too seriously...
from what i can see. this boss goes against everything dark souls has tought you. the enemy makes a heavy attack and is recoiling, naturally thats when you unload on him. NOPE
I spent 5 hours trying to get 16 sunlight medals at Nashandra's Bonfire on PS3.
Everyone is awful on every platform.
I got good sunlight medals eventually at Guardian Dragon, man that boss has low HP
***** i found it useful to rush the sunlight covenant, then just pursuer 30 times, boring, and easy fight, but eh, results.
Thank you.
***** wow lucky guy, my hosts kept dying at the skeleton dragon head thing or got eaten/smashed by the ogres on the way...

I'd place the sign right before the fog gate so i didnt have to worry about hosts dying to the mobs in the keep

"Oh no, fight mechanics!" I died.
No literally, I died. This is Dark Souls, happens all the time.
Because rolling and staying the fuck away from AOE attacks is just beyond some people's brainpower.
You'd think people would learn that if the boss stands still for more than half a second, it's time to GTFO.
Austin Robertson Why would people learn that? Good game design (present in Dark Souls 1) dictates that enemies about to do an AoE attack have some kind of build-up animation. Lucatiel went mad because she saw too many scrubs die against Smelter.
Hahahahaha
lmao XDD
To be fair it kinda looked like you were just watching for most of the fights.
To be fair people that summon phantoms are scrubs.
"Poor afro" isn't even trying to attack the boss. Should be removed from Heirs of the Sun.
I'm betting you watched 2 minutes and wrote that.
So what?
quineloe watch the video, find the answer.
I did, nothing changed.
Its better for it, how can we see how they react if he kill the boss for them?
Worst coop experience in dk2 is probably the pursuer fight. I think I speak for most when I say those mounted crossbows are team killing gods xD
+Jordan Lea The feeling when your summon kills you...
I can agree with that, everytime ive fought the pursuer ive parried it and shot both it and my ally with the crossbows.

On the other hand, the first time I used the ballista, I timed it just right, avoided the phantoms, and hit the Pursuer for massive damage!
Jordan Lea I liked that boss fight because I purposefully summoned as many people as possible in hopes of piercing their skulls with the ballistas
I just wanted the souls...
Haven't you ever heard the expression 'fight fire with fire,' afro?
Yeah, but the demon's fire > world master's fire.
The problem is we need more fire.

He felt ending was near, so he got rushing with fear. We all shall die anyway.
Afro is so skilled... at standing back and not doing anything.
Because in a showcase of bad players he would include the clips of all the competent players he ran into.
Flawless logic right there.
BlueFlytrap998 It was still mean just to stand back and watch them fail. There's a reason why people summon people to help them with bosses.

My lightning bolts disagree. Regardless, this was just in poor taste to me and wasn't funny. Not compared to the awesome Cosplay PvP we used to see.
*Mocks how bad these PC players are as he sits on the other side of the room doing nothing.*
Don't lay a summon if you aren't going to assist the host.
He took fighting fire with fire too seriously
Smelter not that hard if you don't shit your pants the moment he moves. He's really hard if you trying to plant crops doe.
Smelter Demon, the Casul Slayer.
if only using fireballs on smelter made him immolate faster. that would be a wakeup call to the guy at the end
But I don't need a wake up call I knew what I was doing.
***** stop trying to damage control your idiocy in the comments here, you're making yourself look worse. you could have just admitted you made a newbie mistake or something but you are insisting on saying it was all under control
Sausage Power Get gud or get got. That is the creed of Dark souls.
Sausage Power I'm not being an elitist dickbreath I am telling some scrub to fess up to his scrubness and get good. I bet you used pyro on smelter too
c0nqu3r3rlol But didn't you know Forbiden sun is OP Brah? Dark Pyro flame with full humanity. Win all the time.
I'm almost certain that the guy at 3:10 suffered from the Smelter Demon glitch where you're just sucked into the wall and can't get out, sometimes even hoping across the room randomly.
Had that done to me tonight. Sunbro still got it, and I had to bone out of the wall xD
at least pretend you're actually playing
Many if not all of those would've been fighting him for the first time there.
PC Launch was pretty damn populated.
alot of people are bad on PC
Covenant of Champions Master Faith.
I thought Index would've been smart enough to know that throwing fire into a fire does not kill the first fire. Book learnin' ain't doin' nuthin' for nobody no how.
***** That is true, but a mass of iron that is setting itself on fire is not something I'd actively throw fire at.
***** Dark Lurker isn't weak to dark.
To be more precise, he's nowhere near as weak to dark as he is to lightning. Lightning Spear dealt more damage per hit than Great Resonant Soul. (Around 50 FTH/INT)
Well, you know what they say...Fight fire with fire... right?
"hurf durf I'll just sit back and record these baddies while doing nothing but contribute more HP to the boss
yes, yes they're the bad ones"
epic vid bro :^)
-Sit back, do absolutely nothing, and watch them die
-Make a video mocking them afterwards
2gud
He's clearly not doing "absolutely" nothing. A lot of these players are just lobbing projectiles on the sidelines expecting phantoms to do all the actual fighting for them. They deserve to die, honestly.
LuckySharm
"A lot of these players are just lobbing projectiles on the sidelines"
Just like Afro, rite?
* thirty seconds in, hears "Crash, Twinsanity" music *
Me: * instantly smashes like button *
my first game on the ps2. it was damn hard back then too.
Afro helps a lot XD
10/10 I would summon him again
its funny because half of them probably would have beaten it if you weren't there giving the boss more HP, and doing nothing
Yeah... I noticed that...
There's many unhelpful summons though, OnlyAfro isn't the only one. People need to realize that some bosses are just easier without summons, and I personally consider this to be one of them
BUT AFRO
YOU HAVE TO
FIGHT FIRE
WITH FIRE
I actually found smelter ludicrously easy, only reason it took me a second try is because I accidentally wandered upon him as full hollow and empty miracles. I mean, im not saying this to brag, but I don't understand why people have such huge issues with this guy (short of the glitch that can happen)
Yea once you've seen his move set hes actually one of the easier bosses to dodge, I don't understand peoples problems with him either.
Appsin They haven't figured out game mechanics by then :3
Hell, I didn't know about backstabbing in DkS1 until I needed to farm the Man-Serpents.
If you haven't figured out how to dodge by Smelter you should give up.
Appsin To be fair, dodging is a little unforgiving in this one. But youd think youd try it regardless.
SmileyCirrusOz
Yea I'm not saying that they'd have to be good at it, but if they literally didn't know about it, its sad
Something tells me that last guy tried using poison throwing knives on Mytha.
Nope, but I did run in not knowing about the windmill and thanks for the idea I'll be sure to stock up for ng+
That's a Genius logic that guy has.
Imagine if he literally beat the Smelter Demon using a Pyromancy tho. Could be awesome!
Just like in DkS1 where you use Sorcery to kill Seath which has high Defense against it, and (M)Anus.
JSPumpkinKing Pyromancy thats not a mist spell as a rule. Only solid fire damage.
***** Stop trying to save face, casul peasant race.
Wolf- -man Yeah because he's freaking weak to poison, just like so many bosses! Even (and that came as a surprise) the rat authority!!
IMPLYING HE NEEDS YOUR FUCKING APPROVAL
I find your name, and your lack of understanding in regards to artificial difficulty, quite amusing. Outside of some exceptions, having to hit a boss a few more times doesn't mean the boss is any harder, it just means you have to hit the boss a few more times.
idonthave1111
I never mentioned artificial difficulty.
This is why the GBA Dark Souls 2 community is considered the best.
If you want sunlight medals, Covetous Demon is the way to go.
For me the ruin sentinels were easy sunlight medals just because summons for DAYS
Wait, are you serious? People have trouble with the Covetous Demon?
xXPU55Y_5L@Y3R69Xx Actually it's the opposite - they're summoning because he's so easy. Takes less than two minutes for a Token of Fidelity, Sunlight Medal, or S&S stone.
idonthave1111 Oh right thanks a lot man, guess I'll have a go at that then.
I got like 20 medals from the dragonriders.
Afro you could ATLEAST help
he is he helping them become better players turn the difficulty up
MrO420o somebody has not beaten smelter yet
LOL I have over 500hrs in Dks2, just calling out pathetic trolls when i see 'em…have you even beaten the game yet?
yep beat it on release day and since were calling things out you sound like a lil bitch that has nothing better to do but be angry over the internet
cry some more
Don't just stand there... x_x
the same exact thing happened to me, with that exact armor set
am.. am i you?
And then you stand behind then doing nothing, just making the fight last longer by making the boss have more HP, when it's probably their first time trying what is one of the game's toughest fights. The video was pretty funny, but that is some serious co-op skills there bro.
people who summon 2 phantoms for every fight are generally terrible.
To be fair, this is the hardest boss in that damn fort. Which is fair enough since he's optional.
Well, I had more trouble with him than the old king
Did anyone else continually think that they were being messaged on steam?
me lol
Master Race indeed, no but seriously I understand the plight of trying to get sunlight medals.
*Looks at my 39 sunlight metals after already reaching level 3 of the covenant.* Nope, no one gets the struggle.
Why were you just standing there and not fighting the boss?
To show other players fail at this damn boss
4. get other people to do it for you
That's how sunbros play, they are too scared to die and miss out on a sunlight medal that they stay away from the action and watch, he's doing that on purpose as a joke.
***** Some sunbros are cool, I myself am the kind you described.
***** Modesty is this guy's specialty! Sorry I had to say it, it just sounds extremely funny when people say something like that even if they have no intention of bragging :)
I was kinda pissed when I was trying to help people at Mytha the baneful queen
12 out of 14 people didn't drain the poison =\
You can drain the poison.
This is news to me
It's not like she's hard even with it anyway.
sometimes u cant drain poison cus its glitched
In their defense, it's not really hinted at anywhere that you can burn the windmill. At least nowhere that I know of.
***** Yeah, luckily I saw a sign for that on my first playthrough.
Just remembered that I watched Jojo because of that Kars laugh in this video all those years ago... afro making jojo references before they were cringe
... I guess no one smelt... what the rock was cooking XD.
I LOVE this humor. You made my day.
Throwing fireballs at the Smelter, that's hilarious.
>Not helping 80% of the time, staying the fuck away 100% of the time
>Wow look at them dying what scrubs
Fireball guy was amusing though.
lol, it doesnt help that you are just adding to the bosses difficulty by just being in the game
Where's our compilation of Old Iron King "host runs through fog gate and straight into tiny hole in floor" footage?
Playing for the first time and seeing all these bloodstains near trash-mobs makes me weep internally.
Please, look into your heart and quire skill. I have tears in eye right now.
Fucking this.
Fireballs guys is such a rebel. He throws fire at fire boss as a big fuck you to the system. He is so cool.
Ignoring the fact that console players have just as much trouble if not more. Also, he used fireballs obviously because he needs a challenge and is not a casual like you.
This video is from my experience, never had trouble with smelter on the console version.
No, I'm pretty sure he was just ignorant.
why do people hate mages?
You're already off in la-la land chasing imaginary butterflies from the very start of your comment.
idonthave1111
You mentioned "scrubs" and seemed to be using the term wrong, but re-reading it I might have mis-interprited what you were saying. I'm not sure.
MGlBlaze I was just saying that people should know how to use basic mechanics. Everything I stated was a suggestion. Sorry, it sounded like you were trying to imply something about me, personally, saying I was I telling people how to play.
You weren't helping at all,so you let them fight against a 3-person version of the bosses alone.
Nicely done.
It's even better when casters die to Smelter. They just sit back spamming their magic, and once they have to roll, their poor motor skills are their downfall
I think the fireball guy did more damage to the boss than you through out the video.
Fireballs at a flaming rage demon
MLG STRATS
HE'LL NEVER SEE IT COMING!
Mind games! It's just like when Woolie at 4 Shoryukens when fighting Daigo.
Also:
An angel cries every time a magic spammer summons poor Lucatiel.
fuckin afro making me think I had steam messages when I dont even have it open at all
Public Service Announcement: Smelter Demon is an optional boss. You can skip him if you hop off the bridge onto the wooden walkway under it
there's no such thing as an "optional boss" unless ur a casul.
I don't think choosing not to fight smelter as a 100% pyro makes me casul
you have bare fists don't you? Git gud and slay that demon or you will forever be a casul.
That last guy was so... _fired._
/coolshades
being logged into steam makes this video a nightmare.
because standing on the sides with lightning spears and doing nothing while increasing the boss HP is better right afro? :^)
I carried entire fights with that build, rolling through smelters swings as the host cast magic to win
***** but you did nothing in these fights, the fact that you helped other people before doesnt change nothing. the duty of the sunbros is to help the host, even if you dont like their builds, play styles, or capabilities at playing.
make solaire proud, praise the sun, grossly incandescent, etc., etc.
lautalocos
The only fights where I did nothing was when the host was just spamming magic. I don't like helping hosts who do that.
lautalocos pretty sure even solaire wouldn't have helped that guy.
*****
Where is the video proof mister big you tube celebrity?
"Poor afro's just trying to get his sunlight medals"
U SURE ABOUT THAT BRO I MEAN I SAW A LOT OF STANDING AROUND BACK THERE...
Be wary of fire therefore weakness: fire
So does this mean that Sunbros are literally throwing bolts of pure Hamon energy?
Chief889 "Feel the beat of my soul! Sunlight Spear... Overdrive!"
Chief889 If attacked by the spell "Road Roller Da!", Sun Platinum can stop time to evade the attack.
"let me show how bad the PC players are by getting myself summoned then using two lightning spears and never helping afterwards, that'll show them!"
Yeah because PC is the only platform where people couldn't fight smelter demon on the first try.
I for one am sorry, for all those people on behalf of the whole master race.
To be fair you did just kinda stand there most of the time...
kratos9551 I don't think people realize that the more phantons that you summon, the more health the boss gains. It's ridiculous.
kratos9551
If you have one phantom when challenging a boss (any boss(, the boss has 150% of normal health. Two phantoms and the boss goes up to 200% of normal health. If you have a phantom that is doing nothing, it is actually worse than going in alone.
***** Disregard that, I suck cocks.
Never used phantoms so I didn't really know that.
kratos9551 No, don't disregard that.
The mustard race in action.
"oh everone's not as good at me at this game i'll make a video laughing at them"
"Oh, a video showcasing a bunch of people dying, and even using fire against fire! Time to get upset!"
im not upset (:
Denial is such a bitch.
sure thing buddy
I'm loving the pc version but i wish the players weren't so bad.
I mean, really. Why would you summon a red phantom if you're gonna use estus?
How about when people summon red phantoms only to have a gank squad waiting for them.
Boulde its like the forest all over again.
Boulde that happens to me all the time when im waiting for the mirror knight to summon me ;c
But... The smelter Demon is so easy. Im confused.
PC gamer master race, I suppose. xD
(If you summon a phantom who just stands around watching like Afro did in a few fights then anyone who hasn't beaten the boss before is almost guaranteed to lose due to his ridiculous health)
Only phantom worth summoning is the NPC Lucatiel of Mirrah, since you need to summon her for her story line and she just acts as a super-tanky distraction.
He is easy i one shot him my first and second time through its just all these newbies to dark souls and yes im a pc player
People are shit at video games.
The Smelter is a pretty big wall for newer players, I mean, think about it:
Massive, AOE swings make it hard to roll
Getting next to him damages you
Punishes you for taking your time
Almost impossible to block without the proper shield
Very little space to move around in
He's a difficult boss. I would say he was probably the most difficult for me personally in Dark Souls 2 when I came across him at first.
To be honest, this shit happens on PS3, too.
Every host dies. Always.
I had the most trouble with this boss, being more of a cqc character. Funny video though.
Also, nice "EpicNameBro" config *Kappa*
I found the belfry gargoyles to be a more of a pain in the ass than smelter.
I did git gud since then though
LOL THE GUY USING FIRE ON SMELTER ;AHSDFAS I died.
"This guy is made of fire so hitting it with more fire will work, right?"
MGlBlaze He was trying to "fight fire with fire" duh
Sean Pepin I understand the joke, but from a more humourless perspective I don't think they understand how the act of "fighting fire with fire" actually works.
MGlBlaze
*MY FLAME BURNS BRIGHTER*
to be fair if the magic people actually went and got real spells they would kill it. also while i agree that most of these people need to learn to play the games by them selves, if you want souls you should actually help.
You sun folks are pretty nice guys. Helped me out with the whole burning the windmill thing when I did not figure it out.
Has that Pyromancer guy never played an RPG of any kind before?
The boss is ON FIRE
Let's throw fire at it, sure to work
You just know they're playing this game so they can tell all their hipster friends what a hardcore gaming machine they are.
Or maybe he was drawing aggro so that his summon could kick smelters ass? Unlikely though.
Lagstabbing Fiend Maybe he figure if he helped it burned faster and it eventually run out of fuel? Or maybe he was taking "Fight Fire with Fire" a little too seriously...
Does he even Pokemanz?
Crazy Eyes What's wrong with taking Heides first, though? Ever since my first play I run through Heides before FoFG.
he's maximizing his DPS by throwing fireballs in intervals that could potentially kill him
do you even play the game man
Everyone knows best sunlight medal farming boss is Diabetus Demon.
from what i can see. this boss goes against everything dark souls has tought you. the enemy makes a heavy attack and is recoiling, naturally thats when you unload on him. NOPE
Stray Demon.
Quellag.
It's literally the same thing isn't it?
Boss is in a recovery animation and then goes boom.
BRING MORE SCRUBS, SLAYER OF DEMONS
