one best HOF speech ive heard,,and his advise to make that call to thank people that helped you along the way..i just did....RIP paul,,one of the best that played and coached the game....from manila philippines here
I have followed Paul's career since my playing days at Bell Gardens & his days at Aviation High in the south bay. Paul was a great competitor and over due addition to the HOF. He was very quick and could jump out of the gym-He loved to dunk at every opportunity . I always thought he should have joined the Championship wagon out in Westwood with Coach Wooden...What could have been. Loved his left handed drives to the rim, which always perplexed his defenders. Paul's basketball I Q was one of the best-Remember his time out call in the 1976 play-offs with the Celts to advance the ball 45 feet ! And if you should doubt his credentials, you only have to check out his All Star performance when he stymied the great Pistol Pete and powered his team to victory. Yes, Paul Westphal, YOU indeed belong in Springfield's Basketball Hall of Fame... RIP.
Baby Boomer & lifetime Boston Celtics fan here. Westy started out as a Celtic and went onto to the Phoenix Suns. It was very hard to root against him when the Celts and the Suns met in the 1976 post season. In the triple overtime game which the Celtics won Westy had one helluva game. Bless you and congratulations to one fine ballplayer. You surely deserve to be a HOF'ER. 🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
i loved growin up watching paul westphal..yea baby...prob the first player i tried to play like...wow he was fun to watch..come down in a fast break and gorilla dunk with two hands..wht boys caint jump??? westy could...he could light ye up!!!#44 at six four....he could play d....get a steal and fast break ye ass ...yes sir...very happy for Paul.
Our family had season tickets for the Suns for the Westphal years, the Chambers-Johnson-Barkley years, and then the Nash-and Crew years, and what a ride. It was Westphal in both player and coach that made a great impact, along with Coach's Mac & Cotton. And like both Westphal and Barkley said, Jerry Colangelo was a man's man with a word and a handshake. It was the most fitting thing to see Gonzales hit the shot that beat the Yankees in 2001. All knew that Jerry C. deserved a championship for what he did in Phoenix and the sports there. But, here is a supremely gifted athlete, who is humbled, while we all know that Paul Westphal is in the DNA of Phoenix sports forever. God bless Paul, and man was it fun in the Madhouse on McDowell & AWA.
:) ...i tell yahll one thing that i made sure of learning to play the game...in watchin westphal ...i seen how important it was as a point guard .....to learn how to play with ye off hand..because of #44 i was just as strong going to my left hand as my right hand:{ thx again.
Man don't get me started on Dandridge. Loooong overdue. Champion, winner, fine teammate. Wilkes (simply no Bobby D), Haywood (career underachiever), Sampson (really?) Get in and Bobby is still waiting? Something isn't right here.
They inducted him at the right time, just before he died
RIP Paul Westphal
8:11 the best advice ever given in a HOF speech.
What a great speech. Well deserved. Glad he got to share this with his family before he passed

When you get called out by your former coach during his hall of fame speech for his playing days
Damn Elgin Baylor kinda looks like Michael Jackson in Thriller
When will Bobby Dandridge be inducted? A 2 time champion, 4 time all star.
