I rang up his groceries in Sacramento, when the Spurs were playing the Sacramento Kings. He spent $7,000 in wine. He's an extremely nice man. I'm so happy for him.
Not only the greatest coach in basketball history, but the greatest coach in US history in any sport. Appreciate every minute while we have it cause this guy is the bar for the best ever coach now
Hes a great coach but u done got carried away wit all that
Not the best in history but a great man nonetheless
@@anthonytaylor7928No one has done what he's done
@@blablablaa14He’s not better than Phil Jackson, Pat Riley and Red Auerbach. Never won back to back titles and 3peated like they did. And don’t give me the same excuse that the other 3 had HOF talent. Pop had Duncan, Admiral, Manu, Tony and Kawhi. Even had great role players like Bruce Bowen, Stephen Jackson, Kevin Willis and Steve Smith also. He’s easily one the top 5 best coaches in NBA History but you Spurs fanboys love to overrate him.
Man listen, Pop is great. Definitely top 3 or 5 all time, but he never 3 peated or won back to back championships, which is pretty hard to do. Phil has 3 three peats and a back to back under his belt.
Pop is the type of Coach that genuinely will push you to be the best version of you as a player and most importantly as a person !
This man was a brilliant strategist. Played the game to win like no other. Much respect as a Lakers fan.
Pop controlled this room man. So blessed to have had him as our coach. And so glad he is here to reap the benefits of his hard work and achievements 🙏🏽
The GOAT.
I'm 73 years old I've seen a lot of coaches come and go and I'm from New England and a Boston sports fan, but this is my all-time favorite coach and person. I can't top him with anybody else. It's because of the person that he is.
He's funny without trying, he's just effortless in who he is. He's confidence in himself is what allows his players to do the same.
@@jordannietos I agree with everything you say. He is my favorite coach because of the person he is.
Coach Pop is the greatest coach that stayed true to hi franchise and built a legacy from Scratch on and off the court fr 💯! And i grew up a Detroit Pistons fan!
Seeing Ahmad Rashaad brings back some childhood memories. Can they Induct Ahmad?
What a message! Relate with each other a lot better than we do right now! Pop is the Goat!!!
Probably the most deserving person in the hall of fame
Literally the opposite. He fell ass backwards into every bit of success he's ever had
@@josephboehmer1245 cry more
Probably 100 others more deserving
Not even close. There are 100 PLAYERS more deserving.
Are you kidding? You need to be.
Born in ‘96 into Spurs fandom I was spoiled with greatness throughout my childhood…so many memories with friends and family attending/watching games…thank you Coach Pop🙏🐐
Amen!
Coach Gregg Popovich is a model citizen on and off the floor...
Not really
@@Doc-ch5ozwhy
Best coach ever
@@Doc-ch5ozAw which team of yours did he keep from winning a ring
@@CarlosMiguelCruzTorres cos he’s probably a republican lmao
By far the best coach ever. Victor is lucky to be able to develop at Spurs. One of the few people outside of my personal life that I would take a picture with.
Phil was twice as great. Numbers don't lie. Phil isn't woke
Jackson had SUPERSTARS!!
@@lowlighJackson also had Tex Winters, the originator of the Triangle Offense.
Count on Pop to throw a wrench into the scripted expectations. "I"m not done!" A moment of total peak Popovich. So good, that's why we love him.
Pop with the greatest pump fake in basketball history at 24:23
I think Manu had a feeling something was up.
Instead of being a 3rd tier team in a 3rd tier city in the big state of Texas, Pop and the Spurs showed everyone how to do it best, how to play as a team, how to stay together, and how to dominate the league for a good decade.
Born and raises 210 south side and to have this man this legendary human be the coach for our small market team is simply blessed.....
Born in 512 Southside
Simply glad of been a witness of his career.
A true Gentleman with a high standard and excellence.
Ending with the most meaningful statement. Much more than an amazing coach.
Love you Pop ! Thank you & all the great Spurs that have gave us all great memories!! Congrats to all of y’all ! 👏
Coach pop one of the best coaches ever as a Mavs fan love watching him coach against even if it meant a loss
He truly gave us battles and classics as a coach for the Spurs. I miss those days for sure.
Love Pop. He destroyed my Heat in 2014😅
…a gentleman’s sweep to be exact…each of the spurs victories came by a margin of 15+ points…the heat’s lone victory in that series happened in game 2 by a final score of 98-96…Manu’s dunk over ray Allen payback for game 6 the previous year🔥
Coulda beat the heat in 2013 also, no Duncan and no fouls🤷♂️
We won the year prior; but it didn't fit the program of having lebron lose again...the series magically changed from a 2-2-1-1-1, to a 2-3-2 format....... pop has 6 rings, can't deny that.
Ahh yes. The 2014 Revenge Tour. Most beautiful basketball to ever be witnessed.
Wade’s Knees destroyed the Heat in 2014, if he was healthy Miami would’ve won the rematch
“Don’t speak, just sit down.”
Pop got no chill with his boys even though they’re retired.
Gregg Popovich is the greatest NBA coach of all time 100%. No question about it
lmao hell no
Phil Jackson
He’s number 2 to me Phil being number 1
@BonesDMS4life I mean I guess but nah Gregg Popovich is better though
@@Kings0424 opinions are subjective but why i say Phil is cuz he did it with two different teams and dealt with 4-5 of the strongest personalities in basketball history and still won !! Mike , Kobe , Shaq , Rodman
Can't wait to see what Pop does now having Wemby and up amd coming player's lile Sochan, Keldon and Vassell... gonna be fun to watch!
My life is complete. All five of them on stage at the Hall of Fame is really a sight to behold.
The best comment on here
I 100% understand what you mean. Really historic moment
All 4 still look at him like their Coach / Teacher
The respect
Living your life through strangers.......
Wow I haven't seen Ahmed Rashad in years....I remember his Saturday morning NBA shows in the early 90s
Those were the days
I literally teared up during this.
Tears man, a gentleman through and through.
My dude you gotta do a video on Pop
RC needs to go to the Hall too.
@sush. I think he'll be there in time.
Major Spurs fan here. I have never not been amazed, mesmerized, even humored, when Gregg Popovich speaks.
Such an amazing man…..🙏🏼✊🏼🫡
Lots of memories. Those spurs were the greatest teams ever in the history of basketball. Efficient, reliable, consistent, and humble. All those traits trickle down from the top. Amazing organization.🙏🏼🤙🏼
this is once in a lifetime opportunity to hear pop talk this much
Even as a lifelong Mavericks fan, I still can’t deny the greatness of Pop! We’re also ready for you to retire whenever you’re ready, just fyi
Pop is an amazing man. He is a great leader, who demands respect, accountability, discipline, loyalty, and has a great heart. This is the type of man that we need as a country. Pop would be a great President.
Never change, Pop...
Can't wait to see you back on court. Here's to more yelling & ejections!
Yes, we want some nasty!
This is going to age so well, this is pop’s world
AS A BLACK AMERICAN AND SPEAKING FOR MYSELF, COACH POP IS ONE OF THE GREATEST MEN I'VE EVER KNOWN. I SALUTE HIM AND I ASK GOD TO KEEP HIS HAND ON HIM AT ALL TIMES.
GOAT Coach
Second goat
The type of guy that commands respect and admiration from everyone around him, what an absolute legend he is ❤
No, he's a surly clown who got lucky with a bunch of great players showing up in San Antonio. Tanked to get Tim Duncan, installed himself as coach, and then the GM brought in the other guys.
@@eddievangundy4510bro why r u just on here to hate on pop 😭 get a life bro
@@eddievangundy4510
Bunch of great players? Who?
Better read timelines. There's a huge difference between proven talent and developing players into their utmost potential. As turned out, some became All-Stars and champions, to the dismay of other teams bypassing them.
Tanked to get Tim Duncan?
Review 1997 draft lottery. The Celtics had 2 (or 3?) lottery balls. San Antonio had one, and it happened it was good enough.
Don't be an ignorant hater with a Dunning-Kruger effect.
A legend in every sense of the word.
Great human being, great speech, amazing coach, amazing career.
Of all the things he said what moved me the most was seeing the faces, beautiful innocent faces of his grandchildren. They made my day and may God bless you all.
Y did I tear up soooo muchhhh, this was so moving.
Lmao the POTENT silence in the room when he said Seattle should have a team is only topped by him acknowledging "yeah I'm probably gonna get in trouble for that." God I love this guy
Yes, but Gary Payton should work it out and build back an NBA team in Seattle so Pop can see his family four more times a year. Get going, Gary!
As a Spurs Fan...I have lived every moment of Pop's coaching career...Still awesome to see ball coach now with Wemby...
Shoutout to a Legend 🫡
Greatest coach ever… God bless Pop!!!
Phil Riley Auerbach then Popovuch
@@randomname3715Kerr?
Their are good coaches and great coaches coach Pop is one of the great ones
I wish Craig Sager was still alive for this.
Other teams talk about being a family, but these guys are unbelievable. The blue print
Goodnight, pop got the foreigners to try and pressure Kawhi Leonard into playing. If it's a family he's an abusive dad.
@eddievangundy4510 because I'm sure he was really hurt and I've never heard of a player refusing to play because they wanted to play somewhere else, right? Do you think the Spurs paid him millions to sit there. It's a business also. Where do you work that you can be sick all year and get paid and never get fires. Use your brain.
I ❤ this man. I wish we had more people in leadership like him.
This man had Larry brown and Don Nelson as his mentors. How lucky can you get lol
Pop knew how to see the excellence in people and bring it out of them. So many success stories under him is a testament to this. More than a coach, he is a mentor.
Coach Pops coaching tree in the NBA is insane
Steve Kerr is a Phil Jackson/ Greg Pop hybrid.
Its Sad that fans get caught up in the moment a choose to tear Down one coach in order to celebrate the other.
Coaches settle it on the court, Fans never settle anything in the comments.
@@Peakfreud
It just happens Steve Kerr listened to Pop more than Phil.
Maybe because Pop is more relatable and cares about relationships.
When Steve announced his interest to coach, PhilJax invited him to coach NY.
Pop told him to coach where Steve's family will be in a better situation. Kerr felt it is in SF.
Warrior bandwagons tend to dismiss Pop's influence to GS' ongoing glory years.
Phil settled in former player Derek Fisher.
Few years later, Fish was fired, and so was Phil.
@@OrionOodama You can learn from one persons Failures, just as easily as you can learn from another's successes. Happens in parental relationships all the time.
The combined experiences of both learning situations is what provides the overview & big picture. Because you're always gonna fail & succeed in any endeavor, unless you're perfect.
@@Peakfreud
So what’s the moral lesson?
Phil Jackson is most effective if he’s the coach, NOT as VP of basketball operations.
That’s why the 1999 Knicks’ Playoff run was a fool’s gold.
Jackson was reportedly waiting in the wings, but since the Knicks went to the Finals and Jackson can’t wait any longer, they lost a man who could revive the Knicks’ real glory years and give Patrick well-deserved ring/s.
I can listen to coach Pop speak all day.
El Mas grande de todos Pop. Sin dudas. Grande. Historia de la NBA. Historia grande de la NBA y el baloncesto mundial. Gracias Pop.
What A Class Act. For the Spurs. For Basketball. For the NBA. A Real Class Act
Pop is rare gem as a person and as a coach. No one else like him.
Love seeing Pop give R.C. his flowers, love seeing R.C. be so grateful.
You know you’ve made it when you can thank UNC -and Duke coaches with sincerity.
Even though he beat my team most of the time in the playoffs he is my favorite NBA coach of all time. Dude is a legend and I’m happy he got in the HOF. Seeing him going in with Tony Parker was beautiful to see. I’ll take him over Phill Jackson any day.
give pop MJ and then Kobe and Shak in their prime
Phil Jackson isn’t half the man or coach that Pop is!
Foundation behind all the success Truly great coach
nothing but the utmost respect to the legend that is Coach Pop
man, I was waiting for pop to crack a big smile during this ceremony! what a wonderful career and resume sir!
Coach pop is the best to watch coaching and listen. Basketball is in a better place thanks people like him
Man, Ahmad Rashad got hella old. Remember when he used to be in his 40's in the 1990's and being Michael Jordan's VHS🏀Tapes MJ used to make back then.
Class act through and through.
We need more Pops in this world.
What an amazing human being. Much love Pop!
The goat..the legend..the hero.......
Man is my favorite coach of all time. I’m not a Spurs fan
It’s great that his best players stuck around and understood that pops yelling was just because he wanted them better. Glad none of his best players didn’t jump ship
One of greatest Coaches of all time !
Pop played in gary and ec??? This speech gave me true motivation. Holy hell this guy has done it all
Brilliant, generous, kind. Coach Pop.
Is Coach Pop the only active head coach in the HOF?
takođe i iz Srbije čestitke! više nego zasluženo. kakav trener, kakvo ljudsko biće .. 🖤🤍🏀
Bravo! Neko da se seti. 🇷🇸🇺🇸
Man... such a beautiful speech!!!!
Thank you Coach Pop. The greatest coach of all-time
A great basketball coach. A better human being.
I been waiting for this a long time, I'm not done.
Pop the GOAT. Many people will say Phil but lets take into consideration on the journey both went through; Phil was already a winner before coaching (became champion with the Knicks) so its easy to maintain the same success going into coaching, while Pop did the hard way - the true definition of rebuilding a team and turned into dynasty. No wonder Warriors dynasty exists up until this day its because of the Spurs blueprint. Ball movement > Triangle offense all day
Steve Kerr is Pop/ Phil Jackson hybrid.
1/2 Bull/Spur.
Most of his career has been spent in Dynasties.
....definitely not the goat. Phil has twice as many ships. Beats pop in every category except wokeness.
@@randomname3715not in wins. He does beat Pop in the racism category, though

How come not Phil Jackson?
David R, Duncan, Ginobili, Parker, Kawhi, etc... wow!!!!

This IS a SPECIAL man!!!
Amazing speech!!
Greatest coach ever!!!!
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🥇🥇🥇
Pop’s Personality Is Something Else Man😂
Man i have chills hearing Ahmad Rashad's voice remembering those days on NBC
Great speech !! Great man
Someone please help me out. Lifelong NBA fan, have coached for years myself so respect what a great achievement this is. I've listened to every single man woman and child rave how great this guy is. I just don't see it. Not a hater at all but I want to understand the pedestal he is put on. Can someone detail what it is that makes him different? I've had the chance to watch him coach without 3 hall of fame players in his lineup since Kawhi left, and I can't say I'm very impressed. Thats the real test, when you don' t have an all star team on the floor each game. Listened to the whole speech for some indication but other than people absolutely adoring him I can't see it. Is he just a terrific human being that got lucky? He certainly talks like he got breaks at every single turn in his speech. Anyone?
