I love this show, because all the villains had a justified reason for hating Tony: in Phil’s case, his brother was murdered in an unsanctioned hit, and Tony wouldn’t allow him to get revenge. Phil was old school, and didn’t appreciate the way Tony’s family made a mockery of LCN. Just incredible writing and continuity.
Paulie is the kind of guy that will f@ck up a cup of coffee.

Borko, your clip compilations have made me reconsider my Sopranos takes in a deep way. I now believe my old old libertarian-esque mindset actually led me to miss a lot of the good points about the show. Tony knew the feds were working against him since Season 1, but how the criminal "Mafia" families interact changes through the series. The mutually beneficial relationship between John and Tony is a distant memory by Season 6.
Also, for all the risk-taking behavior in the show, I find it notable that Paulie tells both Bobby and Sil "there could be a line at Couzerelli's a mile long." Couzarelli's is the funeral parlor from earlier in the show. Small detail, but Bobby and Sil (*) both die behind the ensuing beef here.
I'd also like to add that if HBO sees this, I am a paid Max subscriber, and I'd rather watch Borko. As someone who has watched the entire series, I get more out of seeing Borko re-stitch the story to provide emphasis.

Could you elaborate on how a libertarian-esque mindset caused you to miss things about the show?
Sure. If you constantly justify criminal behavior as "natural" or "just part of life" (just an example), it may become more difficult to notice the tragedy of the slippery slope a lot of the main chracters find themselves in.
For example, if you try to justify every action Tony takes, you may miss the gravity of the peril his lawlessness presents, and potentially overlook what comes back around to him.
I hope this made sense!
