And the collection grows again...looks awesome man!
Thanks Dan!
I’m really happy with my Astro. Does everything my SLO30 does and more.
I have been blown away by this amp so far. Mike Soldano said he used the same preamp as the SLO for the red and purple galaxies, but improved the clean channel and the transformer tech. Other than that, the main difference is the 6v6 vs 6L6 and of course the XLR out and built in loadbox for cab less use. Basically a more modern version of the SLO. Epic.
Very excited to hear what you conjure out of this, Jon!
Never heard of this amp! Looking forward to your demo of it 😁
The Astro 20 is on the very top of my list right now. Looking forward to hearing your demo on this one and maybe even some comparisons with the SLO-30.
Thats awesome! Congrats! Great looking amp! Excited to hear what you can make happen with this one. I feel like there will be a new amp rack video soon as fast as the amps are coming in! You have to be running tight on space for all these lol.
I've been selling some amps lately
Such an amazing amp Jon! I really enjoy the distortion and harmonic characteristics of Soldano amps.
It sounds really good!
@@SonicDriveStudio Looking forward to hearing what you do with it.
I'm liking the visual style of this one a lot more than the "classic" soldanos. Excited to hear you rip some riffs on it :D
I’m not jealous because I got an awesome new guitar today, well maybe a little bit lol 😊 congrats on the new amp man!
Fuck yeah dude. Can't wait for future content
I'm excited to hear this one! Would love to hear it compared to the SLO 30, and if it's an upgrade from the SLO
oh boy, this one sounds great
My wana hear some riffs. Of course some heavy metal and rock 🤘🤘🤘
Of course!
Woooow!
Such a great amp. It’s stupid good
Can't wait to hear this against the other smaller Amps!
I can appreciate all amps and their sound. You do great reviews. I would recommend a video that you rate your top ten amps and why they rank there. Im interested in your thoughts, Though I always say the best amp is the amp you like, not what is most popular or new or one with bells and whistles.
Have a nice metal Sunday! 🤘
Have loved mine, super flexible for anything!
On paper, this is perfect for me but the demo tones have never moved me. I'm really excited to see what your experience with it is.
Same here and also looking forward to what our man can dial in. Maybe a non-standard cab sim selection will add the right flavor 🤔
I want my life this good.
Hey John, it would be interesting to see the difference between using the Astro 20 with a loadbox vs the integrated IR! I believe that when it uses the integrated IR, it bypass the power amp.
Not sure but I can say from experience that it sounds awesome compared to my Suhr reactive load which also sounds excellent.
🔥
Hi John! I bought an engl e530 and tried it connected to the loop input from an orange or15h... I put it on my fryette ir loader and the sound seems quite acceptable, but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a better choice to order the fireball 25 e send the e 530 back... if you could help me I would appreciate it... thank you
Well, I think that would be better to be honest. A complete ENGL head like the FB25 sounds amazing!
@@SonicDriveStudio thanks man
Please god demo this with an 8 string I can’t find a single video on it with an 8 string. Shoot out against your current favorite lunchbox the ENGL fireball 25 would be great as I’m torn between the two.
Oh and if you used the Hellraiser Hybrid C-8 it would really be ideal for me personally lol.
Which one do you like better. The SLO30 or the Astro?
I haven't compared them yet
@@SonicDriveStudio I hope to hear from you about that soon. I appreciate your videos. They help us make decisions
2:57 Pft, who needs a manual?
I'd like to see you slam the shit out of that amp with a stoner/doom fuzz. Test the headroom like a real man.
Interesting that there's no standby switch
That's becoming more common
David Friedman magic
Guitar tube amps do NOT need standby switches, they never did, and it's one of those self propagating myths that have no end.
Leo Fender straight up copied from circuit schematics of the time, where tube amplifiers existed for radio purposes. Radio power tubes ran, and still run, at much, much higher voltages than whatever EL34s and 6L6s do, and those really needed standby switches to avoid cathode stripping. The standby switch used in guitar amplification is just a useless remnant from radio circuits.
Read the valve wizard's article about the mythological standby switch, there are plenty others that explain why you don't need it if you use Google search.
And to add insult to injury, running guitar amplifiers on standby for too long, actually REDUCES the tubes lifespan by cathode poisoning! Running the tube heaters without high voltage on the plates, WILL damage irreversibly the cathodes!!!
Zijn engl amps zo goed als ze zeggen?
Zeker
Companies releasing a new amp in 2024 with a proprietary footswitch connector and no midi should automatically be subject to a public flogging.
It is a standard 7 pin midi connector and foot switch, and you can program it to control other midi devices, or control the amp with other 7 pin midi foot switches. The reason they chose 7 pin midi over 5 pin midi is that the 7 pin does not need a power supply. But the foot switch will also work with 5 pin midi cables, as there is an option 9v power jack in it as well. So you can use it any way you want.
Luckily, Soldano doesn't fall into that category.
OP, exactly, that is why you get all you need with an Astro 20!
You just need to inform yourself better.
