True MP Millie, I can confirm that Meru's patriarchal structures do not favour women. I am a Meru myself, born and bred. Those issues could have been dealt in a different forum. They started hating on KAWIRA immediately she took office, when she refused to do appointments the way the men wanted. They wanted for her to be just a 'flower girl Governor', to be there as a Governor to be seen, not to make decisions and lead.

When I look at this case I see kivutha kibwana first team, the biggest loser is county at large, uda should put it's mcas and maps plus those big guns whom can't accept they lost, naming a road after her husband ain't big thing, she appreciate the support he gave her spiritual, physically and emotional during the run to election, and where is the county assembly to take a motion to them as kawira to discuss and support her, non they are their to put her on ground, the only motion they can support her on is increment on salaries, I think we should have a law to protect governors from minority parties, cause at the end of the day as milly said even if she is impeached today tomorrow she will be elected since she has the mass of voters with her. We will end up using a lot of money to do another election there with this economy we are faces.

I respect @Milli Odhiambo intellect and commitment to empower women through the gender lens. However l want to tell all and sundry that Meru issues are beyond any gender manipulations. We Meru (people) voted Kawira overwhelmingly knowing clearly that she was a woman, so issues of patriarchy do no arise. Her poor leadership and managerial skills coupled with total ignorance and arrogance is her undoing. Her developmental strategies of so called “Okolea kana Ka Meru”are not sustainable and therefore cannot address Meru issues and challenges effectively. Meru people want sustainable development, reduced plundering of resources, equality in resource distribution, empathy to the poor and well thought out policies with public participation. If she concentrates in doing the right things and reduce intimidation and mockery of those who oppose her, we could still elect her back in 2027 regardless of her gender. THATS THE MERU PEOPLE
