  • Aeroflow Performance 12-volt electric oil pump is designed to handle the toughest automotive racing environments for transmission / gear oil fluid cooling or scavenge systems on your turbo drain back systems.. The internals feature a hardened bronze spur gear & rotors so there are no diaphragms to fail during operation. NOTE: this gear pump will have a higher noise level due to the internal design.
    The pump's small size and reduced weight make it ideal for any space or weight-limited application. The case features vibration-resistant rubber mounting bracket and feet.

    I purchased a SurFlo geared pump as a pre-start oiler for my engine. Its fender mounted and pulls oil from the oil pan 1.5" above the bottom. From there it pushes oil back to a sandwich then back to the relocated oil filter also fender mounted. Thenback to the bottom of the engine the distribute the oil throughout the engine. Im going to have to re-think this one.

    I’m glad to see a known brand on the market for these and hopefully at realistic prices too! They look to be better than the eBay marine fuel pump I’m using as an oil scav pump now and I’m thinking it’ll make a good upgrade as it’s nearly half the size of this one and although I’m running 25w70 it’s through a .8mm restriction so the pump isn’t pumping solid liquid

    Hi there, I’m running 2 g35-1050 low mounted turbos with 180ml sumps on the turbos and all 10an hose and fittings.
    From what I can see the turbos oil feed rate is 1-2 l/m and the pump is 8 l/m.
    Will the pump be running dry and aerating if the pump is trying to physically push more oil than it’s being fed?
    I have breathers on both turbo sumps so the pump won’t be pulling oil through the core.
    Street car too. Do you have videos of how noisy it is when it’s working?

    I’m in the planning stages of a twin turbo setup for my Honda v6. The locations of the turbos don’t allow for proper drain back. In my head I’m thinking of routing both drains to a 1 liter reservoir and running the pump off of that back to the engine. What are your thoughts on this? My main concern is potentially running the pump dry.

      That all sounds fine however you may need to look for a time delayed relay. That way you can set the pump to power up a few seconds after the car starts.

    Can I run this pump on my motorcycle project?
    I'm thinking more about the amp draw and also will the pump suffer if it is trying to draw more oil than is coming from the drain on the low mounted turbo?
    Thanks

      I’d advise fitting an air vent(filtered)so you don’t induce a vacuum on the turbo as the oil should freely drain not under pressure or vac, the filter should be as high if not higher than the turbo, it can work sorta without an atmospheric vent but it’s asking for trouble! The vent is proven beneficial on track and street,pump motor life should be significantly extended not pumping solid liquid

    Hello aeroflow,
    i am working on an audi tt rear mount turbo, and i have a problem. I have very little room for the pump. and i have now found a place where i can put it. but the pump is vertical with the oil supply on top. is this a super bad problem? because on the internet everyone does it upside down. but it's just not possible for me.

      Hi Mikey! That is no problem at all mate, as long as the pump is primed before the very first use it will work just fine. Thanks for your support!

    I'm thinking the oil temp from the turbo is going to be really high - what temp is the pump good to??

    • @aeroflowperformance
      @aeroflowperformance  Рік тому +1

      Generally the oil doesn't spend much time in the turbo so the temperature is usually only 10-20 degrees north of the engine oil temperature if measured at the top end of the motor. The pumps can handle this no problem

    what's the duty cycle on this pump, how long continuously can it be ran for

    • @aeroflowperformance
      @aeroflowperformance  Рік тому

      We tested it with 70wt nitro oil for 3 hours continuous with no problems. We figured there wouldn't be too many automotive applications running longer than this or with that type of oil viscosity

    Does the pump have to be located lower than the sump tank? (In order for the oil to travel via gravity to the pump). Or does the scavenge pump produce a vacuum great enough to overcome the gravity trapped oil in an up-sloping hose/line, to draw the oil to the pump?

    • @aeroflowperformance
      @aeroflowperformance  Рік тому +1

      Yes it is best practice to have the pump gravity fed - not necessarily because it doesn't create a vacuum but more so if the pump runs dry for any period of time before the oil is flowing, the gears in the pump can be damaged. We also recommend running a vent tube from the sump tank to ensure there isn't a hydraulic lock - which can happen if you are running check valves.

      @@aeroflowperformance additional question… what if there’s not adequate space to mount the pump lower than the sump tank?
      I appreciate the feed back, good info here.

    • @aeroflowperformance
      @aeroflowperformance  Рік тому +1

      @@Znthusiast it can be mounted higher however you will possibly run in to the issue of having the sump tank constantly full after shut off so you'd need to run the pump for a few seconds longer after the engine is turned off.

    This doesn’t pump more than the oil going through turbo and run dry , letting metal in sump?

      If you're motor has low oil pressure we would suggest running a small sump under the drain of the turbocharger and then have the pump scavenge from there.
