    ABOUT ME + SANTOSHA SPIRIT
Hi! My name is Rachel. I am the creator of Santosha Spirit. I am a certified yoga instructor who specializes in yoga for chronic illness, chronic pain and trauma recovery. Although I hold multiple teaching certifications, the classes I teach are largely inspired by my own firsthand experiences with chronic illness, ptsd and my personal yoga practice.
Because I know what it is like to live with chronic illness, I am able to create yoga classes that intuitively support the needs of someone who is experiencing chronic pain, fatigue, brain fog, etc. and many of my classes can be practiced in bed. If the practice in this video didn't suit your needs, be sure to check out the other yoga classes on my channel. I try to provide a variety of intensity levels.

Congratulations! 🎉 Thank you also for your thoughts about chronic pain, chronic illness, dysregulation, and inclusivity in relation to yoga. I'm neurodivergent, and live with dysautonomia and chronic pain. I've always struggled with "typical" yoga sessions, so I'm glad to hear that you're seeing a shift in yoga teaching styles. I think tarot is awesome as well. Looking forward to this new direction on your channel! 🌟💖🌟

This is so good to hear! I recently learned that I am also neurodivergent and I have loved exploring ways to make yoga and meditation more accessible for us. Things are definitely shifting, slowly but surely, and I think raising this awareness on social media is helping a lot. Thanks for being here and for being a part of this 💖

Love the fact that you're going to weave NS care into your work! The connection between trauma and chronic conditions is something that has been very helpful for me to learn on my own healing journey. Thank you for everything you share!

So funny! I was just thinking this morning…”I think Sleepy Santosha was her channel”, and then I come across this video explaining the name change. I found you through your healing affirmations, which I have saved on my Daily list. ❤ Excited to learn more about tarot with you.

I just want to say congratulations to 25k followers & I love the name change 🥳 I think the reason you’re so loved is because as a highly sensitive person I can see that you do this because you’re a compassionate person who really wanted to help those with chronic pain/illnesses. I’ve been watching you for 6 years now on and off, with a break because I’ve been through so much which started in 2017 when I lost my brother, than 2018 my husband had a heart attack & was in and out of the hospital that year, 2019 we lost my stepdad which is where some of my childhood trauma come from, so I went through a grieving process that was different because though he caused some childhood trauma, he was the only father figure in my life and I did have some good memories with him. So by October 2019 after having my gallbladder removed it took months to heal from that surgery even though it was a minor surgery I went into a horrible long flare that lasted months, I was so mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted because I tried staying so strong for my mom & husband whilst holding my own emotions in. I was sleeping so much I’d only be awake like 5hours a day and I’d get up to eat a little something and spend time with my husband and kids. I also ended up getting really sick and went into a bad depression and I stayed sick until January/ Feb 2020. Just started to get better before the pandemic was announced and in March I got an upper respiratory virus. Through all this my daughter was pregnant & she had my 1st grandson May 19th 2020 and the same day my uncle who has Covid pneumonia was in the same hospital and he was taken off the ventilator at 4pm but didn’t pass away until 7pm and my grandson was literally born moments later. I finally was better by this point and though it was scary I was able to spend lots of time with my daughter and my amazing grandson who was staying with us until they all found a home. My mom ended up getting Covid Pneumonia in June 2020 and was hospitalized and it was scary, but she ended up getting better thankfully. My daughter ended up getting pregnant with my second grandson in 2021 and she got Covid in the winter that year and it was quite scary, but she ended up getting over it and had my second grandson March of 2022, which I got to be by her side for and it was such a beautiful experience. Over the last 3yrs I was losing weight little by little and at my last checkup I’ve lost a total of 70lbs. So now I’m here again after a few years of being sick and dealing with so much stress and getting sick a lot I thought it was time to come back and check and see if you was making videos and I’m so happy to see how much you’ve grown. I’m so ready to start doing some yoga because my body is in so much pain especially when I wake up so I came to you because you really know how to work with people with different chronic pain syndrome’s and chronic illnesses, plus you’ve helped me in the past. I’ve honestly been through a lot of trauma in my life so I’m so happy to hear you’ve expanded your knowledge to work with people in pain who has trauma. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, understanding and compassion and truly knowing how to teach those of us with painful syndrome’s how to work on our body, mind and spirit. I remember you basically being the only yoga teacher on this platform that understood us and knew how to teach us yoga without hurting us further. I can’t wait to see what you do in the future. Sending so much love and positive thoughts your way. 💜😊🥳
