Good advice thanks ever so much. This is my first year with Hydranga♥

Once you start adding hydrangeas the addiction begins they are so easy to look after and reward you with beautiful stately flowers. I will be adding alot more next year. Don’t expect alot the first year while
They root in but the second year they take off.

@@creatingmygarden Thank you. I'm also addicted to nine barks. Locve how they are large enough to fill in gaps nicely !

Thank you so much for this video . I live in the Ottawa area and we have snow . My husband used to take care of the pruning and winter preparations , but he passed away last spring ...so I was lost as I never did it myself .

I really appreciate this information, thank you. I have one hydrangea and every year it shrinks in size, it's an Incrediball variety. I am going to follow your advice and hope to see a difference next year.

Excellent yes I have been planting that type as well treating it the same as the rest. We can compare in the spring. Do you get any wildlife for me it mostly jack rabbits but sometimes deer to and the odd moose this year so strange

@@creatingmygarden This year was odd-no deer! We have fenced gardens, the vegetable garden has 4ft picket fence and the flower garden has an electric wire so we can see into it. But a crazy amount of gophers and moles or voles that make tunnels and hills. I think it's pretty cool that you got to see the moose.

@@terriapearce915 moose normally aren’t in our area but a few years ago a few started appearing about once a year but never coming into town that I new of but there was also a bear that got into somebody’s back yard on the north side of town too so they are definitely moving closer maybe from the valley but that is quite a ways away.

Hi Jacqueline! Thank-you for these tips. 🤗 I'm going to cut the blooms off my Annabelles today, here in S. Ontario. I usually leave the blooms on for the winter on my six foot PG hydrangea. Last year, I cut it back to a third of its size, and it returned to almost six feet again this year! I placed some fertilizer pegs around it, and it gave us the biggest blooms ever!! With my pom-pom hydrangeas, I can cut them down to the ground each year and they propagate and return the following year like nothing ever happened. 😅 Have a blessed gardening day!

Excellent I am still removing them off mine in the back garden. It’s a quick easy job thank goodness.

I'm in zone 5b and don't fertilize anything after July. I do put a tent cover on my more sensitive macrophylla hydrangeas like Skyview and the Original. I do deadhead otherwise I don't do anything else. All are hardy to my zone. Bonny

That’s excellent. I quit fertilizing earlier this year just watering and soaking everything in with it being so dry the 2 days rain didn’t do much we didn’t get enough to make a difference.

Hi 👋 may I ask you about incrediball/anabelle hydrangeas! Where I live we have quite some wind and harsh winters I would guess our climate is similar 😊 but my hydrangeas are not looking as good as yours… they leaves break and look terrible as soon as we have had storms… I do notice in comparison to all other hydrangeas I have these are the most thirsty… can you relate to this issue? The stems are strong and all of that they problem I have that the leaves look ugly since we always have strong winds by the coast… I have thought about amending the soil to better condition but I don’t know 😢

They look shabby give them a really good prune. Remove all old wood that is frail or looks beat up and clean out the inner branches to let more air go through. Mine are thirsty as well especially in full sun. Every few years I think giving them a good hard prune makes them stronger I do the same thing with my snowball bushes too your rejuvenating them. We are super windy as well. Another thing to do is stake them to give a bit of support with the wind mine are in front of an 8 foot fence and they have done well there till the fence fell on them now they are pruned down to the ground.
