Robin Trower is the star guitarist of the 70's that NO millennials have even heard of. Criminally under-appreciated. 50 years later, Trower is still recording and doing gigs. amazing sound.
One of the best guitar/bass player combos ever. The trio are all good but Trower and Dewar fit so well. Dewar was one of the best vocalists ever. Been hooked since 1983.
This was his first solo album after leaving Procol Harum, where he must have felt confined. On the song "Daydream" he really shows the Hendrix influence in his playing.
That record was playing on my turntable a LOT back when I served a year in South Korea. Drinking my ration card’s worth of cheap bourbon and cigars while writing letters home and listening to this one over and over.
Hey guys, I sent you that album from ebay, because I didn't want to do the research to find out if new 50 year edition was remastered well or not. Glad you like it so far. It was Trower's first solo album, this was first song. I bought my copy probably in 75 from a flea market, and have been awestruck by Trower's guitar sound on this song ever since. It's like a living breathing thing really. And Jimmy Dewar's vocals are superb and a perfect match for Trower's mood. It's a great album all the way through. He still plays Daydream in concert now. Rock Me Baby is blazing version of that old blues song. My mom used to sing the chorus to Man of the World around the house, so that's sentimental favorite. Hannah is great too, great singing.
@@AirplayBeats you're welcome. I love your reactions, love it when you do deeper cuts. I thought you might like this. I personally like this album as much as Bridge of Sighs, they're my 2 favorite Trower albums. But he's had great songs scattered throughout his 50 year career.
Yes Barry. This was my first time hearing this particular song. Magnificent. I can see why these 2 REACTORS are deep in it. ( They have excellent taste in Music 🎵 don't they 😊 ❓
Gentlemen fantastic review of such a underrated band. Robins mastery of the Ax. Jimmy’s soulful voice and Reg just killing it drums. Thank you for recognizing this phenomenal band. Love what you are doing keep up the fantastic work gentlemen ❤
People often throw around the phrase "under-rated" way to freely, but it applies here. Trower deserves all the praise he can get. He has the skill and the pedigree. Trower played with Procol Harum (Whiter Shade of Pale) the first five albums and was a well-known and respected guitar player in the US and UK. Now throw in vocals by James Dewar, who could sing the phonebook and sound great, and you've got classic Trower. Not many clunkers in his repertoire.
There’s a few guitarists from this era that I appreciate, Robin Trower is one of the best. Haven’t heard this one in a bit. Nice pick, nice reaction. You really need to check out Frank Marino, Mahogany Rush was his band until he went solo. Either or , in that regard will work, looking forward to it. But Trower, Beck, Marino, Page, Walsh, Lifeson, were in that special category of rock players from the 70’s. Appreciate that dive fellas.
@Airplay Beats, LOVED your reaction, guys. I'm a 70 yo Englishman Londoner and fan of Procol Harum, the group Robin was the guitarist in, since the late 1960's. It was a done deal I would follow him when he went solo and I got this album within a couple of days of release but NOTHING prepared us for what he gave us then or subsequently. The opening bars of this track hooked me as a fan for LIFE, I don't know how it would have been without his music being there: I know this will sound pretentious but much of his music touches my soul. Side one is EXCELLENT, Hannah is another standout. My YT user name is copied from the title track of his third album, well worth a listen: FEB, A Tale Untold both masterpieces imho. Well done, guys 👏👏
I was watching a car video (I love cars) and stopped that video and came directly here when I was notified❗️ You guys NEVER dusappoint when it comes to the classics and deeper cuts😎
I saw Robin Trower 3 different times in three different decades and he sounded the same each time and if he were to come back around again, l would definitely see him again. Thanks guys for making my mornings soooo AWESOME ❤
First three Trower albums are fantastic. The third is For Earth Below, play the title track. Three GREAT musicians playing three GREAT albums = GREAT. That is my definition for GREAT ie an artists first three albums are corkers ie you can listen to them anytime all the time.

I continue to marvel at your openness to my generation's music and your continuing appreciation of a wide range of genres, consumate musicianship, writing and performance. Twice Removed From Yesterday is my favorite Robin Trower album. This song and the next two songs are the reason. Continue listening for Daydream (Spellbound) and Hannah.
Hey fellas good to see you back hope your Thanksgiving Day was good. Daydream or Spellbound as it is sometimes called by Robin Trower is a must to hit. Saw him live twice and when he performed it live it was something special.
This is the first album from Robin when he formed his own band. All songs on this are very good.Robin's guitar sound is awesome,as are the vocals and bass playing by James Dewar, and the drums by Reg Isidore.Robin's second album maybe his greatest, but this one has no bad songs on it.Try Daydream and Sinners Song from this one too.
One of their greatest songs ! Please listen to Daydream , Long Misty Days and Bridge of Sighs ! James D’war is the singer and bass player . His voice is legendary . Trower and the entire band are top notch

Great reaction ! Can't ever go wrong with Hendrix influenced guitar playing. Trower does extend that sound with more delay that gives him his own fingerprint on his sound though.

Robin Trower spent time with Jimi Hendrix (he was forthcoming with other musicians as to technique) in NYC while still with Procol Harum, he was so inspired by Jimi & decided he wanted to continue as a power trio & went solo, the choice of James Dewar on bass & Reg Isidore on drums was brilliant. The critics didn't like the album, saying he sounded like a Jimi Hendrix derivative (my words I don't remember exactly what I read only the message, probably saw in Rolling Stone).
