The late, great Jimmy Dewar on vocals. He doesn't get the props he deserves.
truth
Voice contrasts well with Trower's guitar sound.
James is a great vocalist.
FACTS!!
And Stone the Crows!
There are many musical reaction channels. But you guys stand above them all because of reviewing a song like this!
We appreciate that my friend!!
@AirplayBeats your welcome! Hope you guys check out Mahavanishu Orchestra..."Be Happy" would be a great starter! The drummer, Billy Cobham, has FOUR arms I swear ❗️
Absolutely true. It's like the deep cuts reaction channel
Absolutely.
If you haven't done Hannah or day of the eagle they are a must
That Trower guitar sound is unmistakable.
You are correct there are certain guitar players like like trower Stevie Ray are Eddie Van Halen as soon as they hit that first note you know who it is
With the exception of the vocals, I always thought it sounded like Carlos Santana.
AND: SO GREAT!!!
Robin Trower and Procol Harum back to back! What a “Two For Tuesday”!! Thanks guy couldn’t make the day any better!!!
yessssss, agree!!!!!
DUDE...for sure!!
As a citizen of Caledonia (Scotland) I love this track. I saw Robin Trowe rlive after bass player and vocalist Jimmy Dewar (a fellow Scot) had passed away. It was a great concert but I have always wondered how much better it might have been hearing the old band.
You guys must be so proud of Jimmy Dewar. What an absolute legend.
Hey La & Che, Caledonia is another word for Scotland. He is expressing how the country makes him feel. I love the "Robin Trowers Band" and funFax: Robin Trower started his career playing with the band "Procol Harum" during the late 60's & early 70's and contributed to the band's first five albums. But I believe, he left and started his own band "Robin Trower Band" in 1973 (If I'm not mistaken) and Trower's album "Bridge of Sighs" an album I believe your familiar with was one of his best critically acclaimed albums. And I've read that his guitar work on the album was largely influenced by Jimmi Hendrix and in turn he became a huge influence on other great guitarists such as Robert Fripp. (I believe Trower actually gave Fripp some guitar lessons). here's another suggestion, if interested. "Robin Trower - Ball of Fire [Official]" (by the channel: Robin Trower) --This song I've suggested is from his highly acclaimed 2022 album called "No More Worlds To Conquer. And I always enjoy rocking with two fellas. Thanks for sharing.
Definitely The James Dewar powerhouse track. That Cat sure could sing. R.I.P. Jimmy, you was the SHIT!
AGREE!!!
Robin trower is like Stevie Ray Vaughan you know it's them as soon as you hear play guitar without them saying a word
Y’all like this check out Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush : Sister Change or Hey Little Lover
Good lord… Trower & Procol on the same day? It’s going to be a good day 😊
Caledonia was the Latin name used by the Roman Empire for Scotland.
Very interesting. Never knew that. Thank you for that❗
We have a Caledonia Street in my town. That’s why I thought I was gonna hear something more Scottish feeling ☺️
Thank You for covering Robin Trower and James Dewar playing Caledonia . Please listen to Trower / Dewar : I Can't Wait Much Longer - Live . Winterland 1975 . Stay Cool . ⭐️✨🎸🇺🇸☮️
James Dewar had soul…not from the Deep South but from cold, rainy Scotland (or Caledonian)
Love the tone Trower gets from his Strat....
Big fat tone on the guitar, a bit of an R&B influence in the rhythm section. And those soulful vocals. Robin is still out there playing. I saw him in the 70s and 90s. One of my favorite guitarists.
Procol was one of the proto prog groups, Dewar is the most underrated singer in rock, Isadore a great drummer. You nailed it Trower doesn't miss
weII said, cant add anything!
@@robertlavorna2968 Dewar should be ranked a smidge below Paul Rogers with no one in between 😊
Robin Trower is one of those artists I celebrate almost his entire collection including most of the music he’s made in the 2000s
NOW you guys are cookin...this is a JAM!!
CHE'S FEELIN TROWER, YESSSSS, LOVE IT LOVE ITTTTT GUYS!!! 💯😊SO THIS WAS THE ALBUM ( LONG MISTY DAYS ) AFTER BRIDGE OF SIGHS LAH AND CHE! 👍JUST AWESOME GUITAR WORK BY ROBIN, BEEN LISTENING TO HIM FOR DECADES, GREAT GUITAR WORK IN THE TITLE TRACK ALSO BUT JUST IN GENERAL PHNEOMENAL!😊 JAMES DEWAR, RIP☹ TO JAMES
I don't quite understand how Robin Trower came from Procol Harum. I'm just glad Robin went solo and started his own band. They were cookin on this song. The bass player is the lead vocalist, James Dewar, RIP...
🔥🔥🔥🔥🚒🚒🚒🚒
He's still touring. Go see him while you can. Rock on.
THANK YOU, ROBIN TROWER, for ALL OF YOUR SUPER-GREAT MUSIC!!! RIP, James Dewar!! THANKS, GENTLEMEN, for giving this GREAT MUSIC a SPIN!!! :) HUGS, YA'LL!!
Love me some Robin Trower!
Trower Power all day long!
Another banger gentleman. Robin is a phenomenal musician. Jimmy is magical this song is one of my favorites. It’s amazing the delivery depth and sound from a 3 piece band. The original drummer was Reg Isidore he was a fantastic percussionist. Great work Che and La saw the Black Pumas on Jimmy Kimmel last night they were pretty damn good. Can’t wait until you get my request for them. No hurry I know you are finishing up with the Song Remains The Same also. Keep up the phenomenal job gentlemen…
YAY MORE ROBIN TROWER ! You guys are the best. yeah, they could play tight R&B when they wanted, Trower loves loves James Brown, says Live at the Apollo was one of his favorite albums.. Another R&Bish song is Somebody's Calling, that he still plays in concert today, very cool. Jimmy Dewar was brilliant singer. fyi Trower came from Procol Harum. Trower joined shortly after the song was recorded, when original guitarist left. Trower was friends w/ one of the original songwriter duo or something (forget details). He didn't get to Trower guitar much in that band, except for the Song for a Dreamer song, and a few others.
Love Robin Trower! Going to see him live in Greensburg PA in September!
Yes this is a good Trower song have liked from way back. Their is another Caledonia song (might be spelled different) that is an old boogie or rhythm & blues style that feature such lyrics as : “Caledonia,Caledonia, what makes your big head so hard” Many artist have done that one including a live recording of Muddy Waters, Johnny Winters and James Cotton playing together in 1977 touring for Muddy’s album titled Hard Again.
Here's the original by Louis Jordan & his Tympany Five from 1945 ua-cam.com/video/CBl7iP55Jsw/v-deo.html
There's even a Wikipedia entry for it 😃
Thanks bros! Caledonia the original Latin name for Scotland, where lead singer James Dewar was from (RIP).
Scotland! Used to be called Caledonia.
Oh REALLY!??? That's my place...
seen Robin Trower twice in the late 80s in a smaller venue in Cleveland , Amazing
Robin Trower rocks. Saw him several times at Harpos in Detroit . Great axeman Laa and Chee!!
ME TOO! Many times...
I remember standing on beer-soaked carpet at Harpo’s listening to Jonny Winter. Good times
Love this song,
There’s a crazy obscure cover of his fool and me by VH EVH sounds just like him on the live track. This dude had such a sick tone !
Beautiful.
If you want Robin, you’ve GOT to listen to Bennie Dancer
This one belonged to James Dewar. He's a criminally overlooked voice from this era.
James DeWar - bass/vocals. He was not with us long enough. Reg Isidore drums. This was the classic Trower lineup.
From his live lp, Daydream.
RT and JD so underrated. Big fan from the beginning. Thanks.
You can stay in Robin trower's musical treasure trove for months. Love this guy!
"Confessin' Midnight" I've never seen any reactions to it. Would be cool if you were the first. Trower is still going at it to this day.
Perfect deep dive follow-up to this is Mahogany Rush "Land of 1000 Nights"
Ohhhh nice pul, Mahogany Rush!!! Saw them several times back in the day....yeah let's hear some Frank Marino!
Bridge of sighs and Conquistador are cool tunes
Same Rain Falls would be a good next one from Robin. Great lyrics as well
Not bad for 3 guys... By the way nobody mentions ..reg isidore.. He Played with Trower During the early years. He played on this album as well.. I've always loved his drumming style.
Too bad he's underrated. One of the best blues rock guitarists ever.
One of my favorite guitar players. Try Glenn Frey "Smugglers Bues". The version from GlennFreyVevo. Great story and slid guitar.
Sounds great ! Thanks
Robin Trower was IN Procol Harum
Love you guys!!!!
One of my favorite Trower tunes.
Sounded like the Isleys in the beginning ..
Funky and rockin
Great choice
You guys like this ,you really need to check out Frank Mariano
Somethings coming live at the agora theater
Caledonia refers to modern day Scotland. I think Caledonia was the ancient Roman name for that northern part of the Island that they never able to subdue or conquer.
Is this a BB KING COVER?......need some BB KING and Muddy Waters up in here
