@@benjamindeford8025 War is a BYPRODUCT of human nature...not human nature itself. Conflicts will always arise, yes, but how we choose to resolve them is a matter of choice and conditioning. War is not an inevitable consequence of human nature; it's a voluntary action following gross failures to find peaceful solutions to problems at the state level - often driven by gross misconceptions (if not blatant lies!). If one reads back through the history that preceded every single war, one will find a long list of causal factors and missed opportunities where it could have been prevented. We just failed to do so, and then - in retrospect - claim it was 'inevitable' as a means of post hoc justification.
The belief that "war is a part of being human" is just a self-fulfilling prophecy that we haven't let go of yet. Given the catastrophic tools we now have at our disposal to wage it, I think it's high time we let go of such beliefs.

Soldiers are provoked and have to defend themselves in combat. Terrorist start it first and don't say who they are most of the time. When I was 13-14 a neighbor man used to put up "Welcome Home" signs on the front of his house every once in a while, I never knew why, a friend of mine told me that the man has lost his son in the Vietnam war, and just never accepted it. One day my friend and I passed the old man as he was walking down our street, he stopped and asked if we had seen his son Rick, and that he was coming home soon. The man lived alone, this was about 1969, I guess there was no real help for people like that back then. Years later I joined the military, and came home without incident. Even veterans that come home safe, come home with some guilt, maybe a little shame. Its hard to explain. Maybe veterans are all ancient warriors from many past wars too. Not everyone has the calling.

Doesn't have to be explained brother because it can't be. Military men and women understand and feel that sense of duty and responsibility to others. They are a family that is formed in blood. A bond that is stronger than actual family at times. I believe that the only ones outside of the military that can identify or understand are our first-responders like police and firefighters. We are the ones that are willing to put our lives on the line and possibly lose them for the safety of others. We are not the only ones though that pay the price, our families do as well. Both our blood and our military family.

@@jayfruge3536 I agree with you mostly, but I dont put police at the same level as military, and veterans... There are a large majority of police that are attracted to the "POWER" and they abuse it. Id say 30% or more police have this 'disease'... Sadly. Bad cops are bad, and good cops that remain silent are worse... CLEAN UP YOUR HOUSE.

@@frankezane583 I would also add that besides a recent US thing, it's because us Vietnam Vets were spit on, called "baby killers" and worse names when we got home. I was an Air Force medic in an ER outside of Saigon and volunteered for 24 MEDCAP missions where a medical team would go to a village and offer treatment to the population. I never killed anyone in combat. So yeah, the thanks are a long time coming as we didn't have parades and sneaked quietly back into society. And I also agree with Don's statement and I'm angry that we have been manipulated into wars in Iraq and Afghanistan when it didn't threaten the US homeland. All the weapons contractors should be tried for crimes against humanity...
