  • I've been on testosterone for (over) 3 years now, so here's a little timeline to show the progression of my voice change over that time, as well as a little discussion about it.
BTW, the poem is the first verse of "On a Tablet Against a Root-House" by William Shenstone: www.poetryexpl...

I noticed the most significant voice drop about month 8.
I think voice check videos every 6 or 12 months for the next few years would probably be sufficient for documentation without feeling like they're a waste.
As a demigirl not planning to make any changes (even though I too don't like my voice) it's gratifying to see your journey. Thank you for sharing!

That's a good idea, just doing them less frequently. Thank you!

Hi awesome! Your voice reeeeaaally changed. By the way I just started taking voice masculinisation classes, and the change ia just so worth it.

I'm 6 months on a very low dose and have just started to notice enough of a drop in my voice to know I'm not imagining it. I also record myself reading poems, funnily enough. It's neat to hear how your voice started changing at pretty much the same time as mine, and dropped significantly just two or three months later. (At 8 months.) Obviously not a guarantee mine will do the same, but still encouraging!

Wow..that was really amazing. I agree with you on when the most changes happened with your voice but I also do hear changes throughout the last year. Your voice seems to have become more sonorous and a bit more masculine. What I found the most striking was how much more masculine your face shape became within the past year. I hope that you get to a good place where you are comfortable with your voice and your singing voice. Have a great year!

Thank you so much! ❤️ Yes, I forgot to mention that this video also serves to show the change in my face which I'm very happy with!

I think just doing a yearly voice timeline would be sufficient because I can tell a difference in the three poem videos!

Oh my GOSH 🎉 🤟🏻 🌈 I'm new to your channel. I just watched a video about the gender tag project and you mentioned dysphoria with your voice at the time. Seeing and hearing this flash forward is making me so HAPPY FOR YOU!! Yayyy!! Thank you for sharing your story with us 🥰 🫶🏼 😭

I appreciate you mentioning the singing voice....this is my concern too. I want the lower voice, but one of my concerns is singing!!! I feel so....complicated about it. Will lose mezzo sop range for sure...I already lost a few notes. If and when you do feel comfortable, I would love to hear any thoughts on this.

I feel like I'm a weird case because I didn't have a great handle on my voice before T. Most trans singers I know who have taken T seem to have been able to adjust to their new ranges with time and exploration.

I can hear it, but just barely. I had to go back and listen a couple times to the last year. I think, for me anyway, that your facial structure seems to have changed more than your voice over the past year. Maybe it's just the way your hair is framing your face differently? I'm not sure how to phrase it.

I have grown out my sideburns a little longer (meaning further down my face) and I think that makes part of the difference at least! I've also gained about 5 lbs. so that probably also factors in.
