after this answer imma clock out of this because im sooo tired of saying this stuff man. in halo lore the pilar of autumn was not even created as a military ship, it was civilian and acquired by the UNSC and refitted as a military vessel. it NEVER in its entire lifespan made landfall on the planet reach EVER. the spartans in the halo: reach video game did not eksist as a team and at the time of the invasion and fall of the planet Reach they were either somewhere else in the galaksy entirely or were dead, since almost no spartan-II's were left alive AT ALL by this point, let alone 6 from the Reach video game + master chief + whomever else. i think there was like 6 total spartan-II's alive in the galaksy? in fact the chief once even thought about it, how nearly every spartan besides himself was dead but to keep up morale the UNSC intentionally mismarked them as MIA (missing in action) even though they usually had proof they were dead or good reason to believe it. the chief went over witch spartan-II's he knew were dead and the VERY few were in question (he didnt KNOW were dead or not but they more than likely were) the only other spartans i remember being sure were still alive were the ones training the spartan-III's in secret after faking a spartan-II's death to use him as there teacher. halo 4 changed a lot of lore as well, one of the most blatant was that the UNSC had almost 100% completely depleted its arsenal of nuclear weapons in the opening months of the war against the covenant and these weapons had too little effect and were too costly to make in resources and means so almost none of the UNSC ships in the entire universe had nukes, in fact the UNSC upper brass had said that the pirates likely had more nukes than all the UNSC. and the ship you start out on in halo 4 is supposed to be the same ship you ended the game in in halo 3's ending, to prove that the ship was even cut in half just like it, and the name was the same too, but if you look at the ships design on the outside in terms of bulk, dimensions, and shape it is NOT the same ship at all, not even close. and the ship in the end of halo 3 did not have a nuclear arsenal, not even a single nuke, and yet in halo 4 it had multiple nuke silos on its hull. microsoft changed lore many times, bungie originally had humans being descended from the forerunners and the big connecting hints were things like humans being reclaimers, people say that only master chief was called "the reclaimer" but if you read one of the earliest books covering halo 1, the chief comes across a dead body in the library that musta been someone else that had been brought there to do the same thing he was brought there for? and that humans were the ones specifically able to use forerunner technology at will and yet no species of the covenant could access dangerous or high level forerunner tech like the halo rings controls. the robot people created for halo 4 were never meant to eksist, and the flood was meant to be not some reculmination of some even older race reforming into a parasite. so much lore got jacked man.
Noble team is a Spartan 3 fireteam; however, because of their individual capabilities they were given the MJOLNIR armor of the Spartan 2 and assigned to the special DreamTeam known as Nobel
I read the fucking books and the forerunners defeated the humans and killed most of them and reverted them back to infancy back on their own planet earth as cavemen.
Michael Weston the original design for the forerunners was amazing. A great nearly-perfect race that we see as sort of our parents in evolution. They lead us with leftover trails and we're thankful to them. unfortunately they died out due to the flood, and knowing they were going extinct, they set up humans to be the new protectors of the universe
Correct. The best laid plans are doomed to fail when one is trying to undermine literal godlike beings. The Precursors had a plan for the Flood, beyond destroying the Forerunners.
Pffffffft! Halo has always been Mythos-level scary! 40k Old Ones? Pah, meet the Precursors. Eldar Empire? Heh heh, cute. Meet the Forerunner Ecumene. Imperium of Man? H/C War Covenant.
Thank you for this!! you've really saved my bacon as I needed to create a class lesson today and i was so unprepared for it, untill I found this video. now everyone is going to know a little halo lore on my University Course :D
Chief wasn't that big overall in the Halo story. A shame he didn't show the Arbiter killing the last Prophet though; that's an ACTUAL important moment, because it ended the Human Covenant war.
EXPLOSIVE STRAWBERRY Yeah, that is about the time when the Elites and the Prophets had their war over how to use Forerunner technology (the Prophets wanted to study it and learn from it believing it to be gifts from the gods, while the Elites revered it but thought that Forerunner sites should not be desecrated and left alone) and eventually formed the Covenant.
The Forerunners actually exiled themselves from the galaxy for activating the halo rings and moved to the Andromeda Galaxy. If any of you were wondering.
Too bad it uses a lot of the lore made with Halo 4 and 5 to explain the Forerunners and the Precursors. The video also contains a hell lot of inaccurate or directly wrong statements
100 Percent Truth I understand the campaign has the most retarded plot on earth but he zombies plot is actualy super fucking long and crazy, look at the wikipedia page on it.
I don't understand. Why would the forerunners save the DNA of the humans, which they tried so hard to exterminate, AND the fucking flood - BUT NOT THEMSELVES? "Oh yeah, the platypus looks fucking rad, it will take our spot."
Because the Forerunner trilogy of books that most of the really old time period information used in this video is from, were written with about as much creative integrity as a bowl of cold mayonnaise.
A forerunner life worker (the librarian) along with other forerunners betrayed their race in order to save all the possible living beings,so they kept them save in The Ark,happened a lot of things (you should look more details by your own) and the rings were activated.
+Afham Zaki Haloverse Humans didn't choose to be designated for the Mantle of Responsibility for All Things by the Precursors and later the Librarian. In Halo 5 Guardians, Master Chief is wise enough to realize that the Mantle is, in his words "an Imperial Peace" and that it is a concept best left forgotten and denied.
+Afham Zaki The original story held that Forerunners were ancient humans, thus explaining why only humans could use Forerunner tech, why 343 Guilty Spark spoke to Chief spoke to Chief as though he was a Forerunner (directly referring to him as a Reclaimer and a Forerunner), and why the portal to the Ark was left on Earth.
Daniel Stearns Guilty Spark was confusing Chief with the Iso-Didact when he said "last time you asked me" in Halo 1, whether from Rampancy induced memory problems or because the fan theory that the Chief is carrying the Iso-Didact's geas by design of the Librarian is true. It was never 100% confirmed that Humans were the Forerunner's descendants when Bungie was running things, just hinted at. 343i made the truth a great deal more complex.
SinDawg030 If Spark thought Chief was Iso-Didact then why did he call Chief a Reclaimer, which to quote Cortana, was the Forerunner word for humans. I think Spark saying "You are Forerunner" to Chief was a clear way of revealing the humans were Forerunners, that and it just made everything make more sense.
Wow this summed it up nicely! I've only ever finished Halo 3 (missed out on the first two) and only played a bit of reach and 4. I have them all but have no time to play, so I really appreciate you making such a quick, yet informative and effective video explaining what I'm missing.
Bungie never focused on the lore and ignored it. This led to a lot of situations where Bungie screwed it up. 343i wants to show that there is expanded universe. They changed it but they made it better and unlike Bungie they actually acknowledge it. They also didn't change too much, but they more have just revamped it.
***** Technically, Halo: Reach is higher on the hierarchy of canon than the Fall of Reach novel, So it is definitively canon. The 2010 "Ultimate Edition" of the novel was a retcon to make the novel match the new canon of the game, so we'd have one coherent narrative.
***** I'm not sure where you're getting this "either-or" idea from. 343's policy is that in so far as they don't irreconcilably contradict, they are both canon. The presence of the novel does not nullify the events of the game.
+Daiya Shoko STOP THIS BULLSHIT. REACH. IS. CANNON. I'm getting so sick of everyone saying it isn't. So a novel that isn't really taken as a bible in the game (and one titled "Fall of Reach" when there was only 2 fucking hours of Reach in the book) is cannon, but a game that explores the whole war, gives us awesome Spartan 3's to care about, explains how they found Halo, and is perfectly understandable when compared to Halo 1 isn't cannon?? Why the actual fuck to people think this doesn't make sense.
Actually, the original series is nowhere near this simple. Thing is, you have to leave A LOT out to make a three minute video. In fact, a lot of what's in the games draws from lore that's been there for a while. A lot of it is new, as well, but not that much more complicated than the lore already in place.
Actually, the story doesn't end at 3, it continues to 4 and 5. heres a chart if your confused. kotaku.com/5959105/halos-story-got-you-confused-this-chart-might-help
Your right the future games are just to tell some story's about the forerunners and how mankind re obtains the mantle but the primary story is finished
The full story The precursors give the mantel of responsibility to the forerunners but its ends up with the humans , the precursors turn their bodies into dust so they , in the future , come back turn to life but end up becoming the flood. The deidact tries to make the forerunner knights but the librarian stops that from happening , the flood form from the dust the precursors left behind, the forerunners make the halo rings , the forerunners fight the flood but fail, the forerunners are wiped out , humanity flourishes after the battle with the forerunners. The unsc forms. Doctor halsy , a unsc scientist, finds a kid named john , from there she makes the spartan program and turns john and other kids how make it through the program, a spartan mark 1, then the coveant form and the elites are the first to join , then they recruit these speices in this order, the brutes, the jackels, the grunts , they tame the legolo , then finally the drones , then the covenant find humanity, the prophets, realizing that the humans are the precursors, declare war on humaity , the elites wounder why the prophets are declaring war on humanity , the human-coveant war begins , the spirt of fire fights the coveant on a human populated planet and succeed, then the fight for reach began and ends up with reach being glassed, and the lose of noble team. Then the coveant and humans find a halo ring , where they find the flood , the halo ring fires but ends up exploding , and the covenant finds earth, then the second halo ring is found and the fued between the brutes and the elites reachs its high point and the coveant basically dispandes the flood returns on the second halo ring and takea over high charity and humanity and the elites finds out that there is 7 more halo rings, humanity teams up to kill the flood and the rest of the covenant, the treaty between the elites and humanity is broken and a new leader jul madam forms a new covenant , both the covenant and humanity finds requirem where the diedact is awoken, humanity defeats the diedact and the master chief , thought to be dead is found on reqiurem, the war between humanity and the new covenant continues. A a.i known as cortana , also thought to be dead , is found by blue team , a group of spartan 2s including master chief , cortana finds and now controls the gurdians and threatens the galaxy with death if they dont give up they're weapons and exceapt peace and apreantly the grunts already axcept cortanas terms
This was the main story, not character storys , so i didnt include the story of the master chief , the arbiters story, or any characters storys, so dont harass me
kid 1: you took mah candy bar! Kid 2: pulls out pistol Kid 1: pulls out 2 pistol Kid 2: pulls out Uzi Kid 1: pulls out scar-h Kid 2: pulls out m-249? (A LMG) kid 1: pulls out mini gun kid 2: pulls out mini nuke launcher kid 1: pulls out orbital strike remote kid 2: pulls out air strike remote kid 1: pulls out nuclear launch remote kid 3: *presses button* Time to teach you which is the most lethal weapon of them all... *halo rings activate* The end.
so there were humans before earth existed and then they were respawned from a dna sample after the Halo explosion and thats when evolution started as we know it?
There were prehistoric humans (Not prehistoric like cavemen, an incredibly long time before them) that were about as advanced as the Forerunners. They all were either killed by the Flood or the Forerunners, except for the DNA the forerunners saved to repopulate the galaxy. They were put on Earth, then the human timeline as we know it begins.
+pieman141 They can't really do anything about it. They can talk shit and point out stuff but they sold Halo to 343. You can't really do anything about the paintjob the guy you sold your car too did on it, no matter how shit it is.
... incorrect. the flood kill two of the great prophets, and the master chief kills the other one. you also never mentioned Spartans. I would recommend making a refined version, maybe five minutes, with more stuff and more updated stuff. maybe mention some theories. (gravemind = precursor?) and some lore not mentioned in the games (like when the didact was cool.) (and all the stuff that happened after 1-3.)
Clorox Bleach well, yeah. not only is it a giant flood (moldy god dust) but he is still upholding the mantle of responsibility. (bringing all life in the galaxy to the same technological and intelligence level, as in, flood infested.) so yeah, popular theory with a lot of proof.
except for the halo 4 and 5 story, or reach lol.. but i dont like to think halo 4 or 5 is cannon and reach doesnt really have a big impact on the game.
Mayhemm dunno, I just want a proper Halo (flood horror) movie and forerunner/human war game or a halo game with all the weapons and species. BAM! That's what I wan't!
+Count Cuhteo I agree. So much was wrong with it. The backstory managed to directly contradict what we had already been told, and they had the nerve, to expect a player to read four books to understand what was going on... in a really mediocre game.
Halo 3 ended in a cliffhanger (yet again, that's twice in a raw). Halo 3 is my favorite campaign but you clearly saw requiem when you beat the campaign. Even if bungie still owned halo, they would have taken to the forerunner trilogy.
+Layson Samson From what I know (And this part is hearsay, that I heard from several people), apparently halo two wasn't supposed to end in a cliffhanger, and Microsoft forced them to extend the storyline in the name of getting another sequel (and the fact that the first couple of levels of halo 2 were initially much longer and complex, then downgraded supports this I feel). And the thing with 3's ending, was it it truly a cliffhanger? For the storyline was over. An end credits scene (Which was only what you saw on legendary), I saw more as an ambiguous ending, where the player could imagine what happened to the chief. And, let's be honest. Even if Bungie did intend continuation, I doubt contradicting their own storyline, and replacing what they had before with the pretentious, and poorly explained nonsense 343 wrote would have been what they had in mind. To quote the line from Jurassic park "They were so busy asking if they could, they didn't stop to ask whether they should". I really think that, the Halo games had a story, they told it, and it was over. We didn't need Microsoft resurrecting the cow to milk more cash from it.
32bit Osserc yeah I suppose. But the line chief said, "wake me, when you need me" foreshadowed there was going to be another halo game. And the fact that cortana send out a distress beacon. I think the forerunner trilogy has potential, it's just that 343 didn't do well with the level design, character, and strong story line like bungie did. Honestly, the original 3 games didn't give any good detail about the forerunners, which halo 4 did really well with the terminals. I will say halo 4 and 5 will never compare to the original games but I don't hate 4 and 5. I really hope that halo 6 will have the same design as halo 2 anniversary. I feel 343 did a great job remastering halo 2's level design. I just adored the the overall design of delta halo. It was astonishing. But the thing with halo 4 and 5 was that it was that the shading of the levels were dark. I noticed there are a lot of rock like levels in halo 4 and 5 where as the original games had more forest like levels which I personally liked. There's going to be another halo ring in halo 6 so I can only hope it looks as good as delta halo in halo 2 anniversary.
+Layson Samson Oh good! A discussion! Personally, I always saw that line as more ambiguity than sequel bait (Before the recent hollywood obsession with sequels, that was once somewhat common, and still is in books). And in truth, I think that, regarding the forerunners, the Halo games gave enough detail- I personally preferred them when they were this shadowy unknown force, that we see mainly through their architecture brooding over everything, the only actual information being given by the terminals in 3 and the deliberate vagueness of the oracles and gravemind. Rather than space Shakespeare popping up and spouting off reams of meaningless exposition.... and that backstory bit really really gets me (One of the final lines of Halo 3, from Spark "You are the child of my makers. Inheritor of all they left behind. You are foreunner"... hard to be clearer than that, but they manage to ignore it, to the point where aspects of the previous games no longer make sense if you take their added storyline, which in truth verges on fanfiction (Or so I think) I think the problem with 343 is actually highlighted in their name (And I wonder if it was an in joke). They are an artificial construct, created by Microsoft for the sole purpose of keeping the cash cow alive- The fact that five in particular seemed to be more interested in keeping up with the rest of industry, rather than setting the trends showed that pretty well (E.g, the sudden adoption of a squad structure and revives etc) But, I will say, whilst I dislike them, I don't hate them. I will concede, I do like some of the level designs in 4, and the soundtrack was good. I just feel that everything else could have been done far better, and didn't really need to be done at all. I haven't personally played the remasters (Bar ce, and even that only one level), but I do love halo 2 (Probably the one I spent the greatest total amount of time playing).
+MJk Slasher Cult. When you sit down to analyze the situation you realize the covenant is the alien scientology. The guys in charge want money and power and fuck the little guys. The issue with their cult is that it actually ran the risk of killing literally everyone forever.
Halo fans are starting to piss me off, if you don't give a shit about my opinion, then don't read it. But everyone is bitching halo 4 and 5 are absolutely terrible. Bungee made wonderful halo games, but games that were very SIMPLE. Halo 1 was pretty much as good as it could be in its time, halo 2 did have multi-player, and halo 3 had some good modes and some more weapons but it wasn't until halo 4 and 5 (and I guess reach) when the weapon pallet doubled, many more modes were added, and for once the campaign was actually different fron the standard "master chief defends something then accidently finds forunner tech and needs to blow it up" it actually concentrated on the characters and same with halo 5. Also there were so many more fighting styles when reach made power ups, and halo 4 added sprint. People are bitching at 343 because they don't like change. Well stop bitching because change is here and it's making halo something different
I'd rather have halo games that are like halo 3 aka one made by bungie I don't like halo 4 and 5 because I didn't like how they continued the story and how cortana basically went insane and also you spelt bungie wrong what do you mean by halo fans by the way to be honest the power ups in reach were good but (you could say I'm bitching) when they included running I didn't really like it because it felt like I was playing another game and not halo because halo was always a walking game so yeahhhhhhh
DawgZee808 halo was becoming the same thing over and over, it is a good thing they changed it or it would become call of duty (not by copying off of it but becoming repetitive games with the same shit)
I used to think like this, but then I realized that it isn't 343s fault it's the community s fault because Halo 4 was received so negatively and 343 just took it as hate so that's why the games are "bad" I mean Halo 5s story was bad but the Forge Multi-player and custom game modes are great.
+Meep Ster As someone that was a big fan of 4 im afraid i gotta disagree though i do enjoy halo 5 multiplayer for anyone that actually has grown up with the chief and knows about all the lore n shit will struggle with halo 5 because the campaign just straight out ignores the cannon and reworks characters that didn't need reworking not to mention locke is the most bland, 1 sided character ever who we have built no attachment too and yet we are just supposed to side with him in halo 5 as for some reason they decided to make chief a blatant asshole.
+DawgZee808 Cortana going "insane" (It's called rampancy) was going to happen eventually. AI only last 7 years at maximum in the halo universe before they think themselves to death. That's just how it is. It's not something 343 made up. At any rate she isn't dead anyway so what's the problem?
Japeth555 Unless it's for Before Christian Era or Before Combat Evolved, then no it is not the correct term, and it will never be the correct term, And don't bother telling me other wise because I'm sticking to this like a deck on a sinking ship.
"How to tell a story about the entire halo franchise without once mentioning Master Chief." Impressive 😂.
the story existed way before the chief lmao!
@Johnny Bravo The arbiter had a main role aswell, masterchief couldn't have made it without him.
He didn't actually mention any specific character. Just the races. It's impossible to compile it into 3 minutes while also mentioning specific characters...
@@rattled4806 yup, agreed
13113890 Numbers lol
Laughed my ass off when it said BCE before combat evolved
Oh sorry😁
+Diego E. Rodriguez To be fair it is a wonderful and punny coincidence.
True it had me laughing
+colebowlin68 Which is ridiculous, because "Common Era" means literally nothing.
colebowlin68 No, Common Era doesn't mean anything. AD means something. Common Era and Before Common Era were created as a way for people to take religion out, and not acknowledge it.
At least that's my understanding of it.
Wow Halo's story is actually pretty cool and this video was actually understandable unlike some other ones **cough**cough*** Mortal Kombat
or cod
hhmjh
need a cough drop
Mortal kombat is easy to understand, did you mean his video on mortal kombat?
I never understood why everyone forgets that the Precursors let themselves be destroyed.
+jay pad yeah same
The precursors thought they could regenerate them selfs by turning into dust but failed.
No, they were just so shocked that one of their own creations would willingly rebel. They couldn't bring themselves to kill, in their eyes, their children, so they either fled to another galaxy (failed, the Forerunners pursued and destroyed them), or made plans to "die" and return. But that didn't really work as attested to in the video.
+cannonfodder343 The ones that didn't leave the galaxy or turn themselves into dust let themselves be eradicated.
+jay pad You asked why they didn't fight back, I answered.
So Halo 1, 2, 3, odst, wars and reach was explained in 20 seconds? So I wasted 9 years working out what happened (2001 - 2010) instead of wasting 20 seconds working out what happened (2:47 - 3:07)
Man what a waste of time
Just kidding we love you halo
.
Ain't that a bitch?
isn't that a bitch
Loved* 343 has made the game so garbage lmao
Forgotten Syrup i agree completely. i enjoyed reach but they should have stopped there.
middle school when the first halo game came out ahh the good old days of split screen
splitscreen xbox version was the ONLY reason halo sold well and got its fame. i myself was a huge fan and would binge co op with my friends
I remember those summers, I used to play Halo from my neighbor/best friend's family room window because they couldn't have anyone in the house when their parents weren't home.
John Steel the good ol days eh :)
John Steel Lmao that's so strange
Wilson Gang now we have 343 2 thank 4 removing that nostalgia
No the Halo rings will get them to heaven. The Covenant had the right idea........just probably not what they thought.
Lol that's what i though
If the rings get activated, everyone will have halos over their heads. XD
Lol imagine the afterlife hilarity that would have ensued if The Covenant had succeeded.
*in the afterlife/heaven/underworld/whatever*

Humans *Points to San Shyumm* They did it.
Yep
10 years of trying to figure out this storyline and I just now totally understand it completely thanks to this little 3 minute video lol
Man. I'm so glad this sort of video explains the games I never bothered getting into. Granted, a lot of the experience is lost but I just wanted to know what the stories were all about. Awesome.
not even one mention of master chief
Don't need to.
he wasn't a big part of the story here, only the ending 4 seconds xD
englisheskim0 hes only the specific character you follow the rest of the main story still stands
englisheskim0
You forgetting Rookie (Halo 3 ODST) and Noble 6?(Halo reach)
Wow. As a Halo Lore Buff I must say that for the most part you're pretty spot on considering the three minute time limit. Great job. Great video.
"That dust malfunctioned"....
LOL
I don't know why everyone hated Halo 5. Best CoD game I've ever played.
You don't know the meaning of story do you?
It's a shame how 10 years ago people LAUGHED at the notion that Call of Duty would turn into Halo and vice versa, YET HERE WE FUCKING ARE.
GOD IS DEAD AND WE HAVE FUCKING KILLED HIM!!
YA LETS FUCKIN PROTEST YA
😂😂😂
The humans were allied with the San'shyuum and fought together against and forerunners if I remember correctly.
That's correct.
Kinda funny huh? The San'shyuum and humans were at one point allies, and yet now they're enemies. How weird things can be if you let them part ways for a couple thousand years.
Always good to see a lore recap video that properly explains the main events of the Forerunner Saga. The Forerunner-Flood war was all-encompassing and nothing in the Halo games could be explained without it as context
Why did the Precursors choose the humans over the forerunners?
cuz we were the ones that formed the MLG alliance
+Magika Probably well yes, no...
.... yeah.. still no in 8th grade you gona learn some history, hopefuly
you are no where near that age is because you are older or younger?
well in that case you won the argument
Thank you for saving me literally hours of having to through that lore just to knwo what happned.
This made more sense than I could ever make out from watching thousands of HaloFollower videos. Props to you.
The best explanation I’ve seen on this. Thank you.
Ofc bro
"The prophets are a bunch of fucking liars"
Remind me to do that if I ever start teaching...
you should do the Red Vs Blue story in 3 minutes
Rin's Everything yes XD
lmao
entire tf2 story in 3 minutes please :D
yesh
+some guy online thats made by some other guys at LORE but still would be cool
+some guy online i Just wanted to write this :D
+Olek Jezierski I like the way you think ;D
Yes!
You actually did a good job saying all that in exact 3 minutes
One mistake ...
Covenant discover the humans BEFORE the Halo rings .. (:
Hmm. I didn't even know about the Precursors I always thought they were just referring to the Forerunners.
They're from a trilogy of novels collectively known as the Forerunner Saga, individually titled: _Cryptum, Primordium,_ and _Silentium._
Lennard Church Church! Your alive?
Agent Indiana church is alive PRASE JESUS
Wild Skittles THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!
Agent Indiana WHO CARES! JESUS IS ALIVE!
Even though I'm been a huge Halo fan since the beginning, I learned some new things from your video! Thanks
Idk why but at 02:25 with the human dude waving was kind of funny, I guess because you know, Covenant and Humans hated each other for years... idk
Thank God the story ended with Halo 3 lol
for me it ended with halo 3. halo reach the game destroys canon and changes facts of the halo universe tho so i do not count it. love halo wars tho. halo wars is proof you can expand on the franchises past and fill stuff in without destroying or changing canon
In what way did Reach change the lore and facts about Halo? It was a prequel to the first Halo game.
after this answer imma clock out of this because im sooo tired of saying this stuff man. in halo lore the pilar of autumn was not even created as a military ship, it was civilian and acquired by the UNSC and refitted as a military vessel. it NEVER in its entire lifespan made landfall on the planet reach EVER. the spartans in the halo: reach video game did not eksist as a team and at the time of the invasion and fall of the planet Reach they were either somewhere else in the galaksy entirely or were dead, since almost no spartan-II's were left alive AT ALL by this point, let alone 6 from the Reach video game + master chief + whomever else. i think there was like 6 total spartan-II's alive in the galaksy? in fact the chief once even thought about it, how nearly every spartan besides himself was dead but to keep up morale the UNSC intentionally mismarked them as MIA (missing in action) even though they usually had proof they were dead or good reason to believe it. the chief went over witch spartan-II's he knew were dead and the VERY few were in question (he didnt KNOW were dead or not but they more than likely were) the only other spartans i remember being sure were still alive were the ones training the spartan-III's in secret after faking a spartan-II's death to use him as there teacher. halo 4 changed a lot of lore as well, one of the most blatant was that the UNSC had almost 100% completely depleted its arsenal of nuclear weapons in the opening months of the war against the covenant and these weapons had too little effect and were too costly to make in resources and means so almost none of the UNSC ships in the entire universe had nukes, in fact the UNSC upper brass had said that the pirates likely had more nukes than all the UNSC. and the ship you start out on in halo 4 is supposed to be the same ship you ended the game in in halo 3's ending, to prove that the ship was even cut in half just like it, and the name was the same too, but if you look at the ships design on the outside in terms of bulk, dimensions, and shape it is NOT the same ship at all, not even close. and the ship in the end of halo 3 did not have a nuclear arsenal, not even a single nuke, and yet in halo 4 it had multiple nuke silos on its hull. microsoft changed lore many times, bungie originally had humans being descended from the forerunners and the big connecting hints were things like humans being reclaimers, people say that only master chief was called "the reclaimer" but if you read one of the earliest books covering halo 1, the chief comes across a dead body in the library that musta been someone else that had been brought there to do the same thing he was brought there for? and that humans were the ones specifically able to use forerunner technology at will and yet no species of the covenant could access dangerous or high level forerunner tech like the halo rings controls. the robot people created for halo 4 were never meant to eksist, and the flood was meant to be not some reculmination of some even older race reforming into a parasite. so much lore got jacked man.
Indeed. Spartan III's were never on Reach during the Battle of Reach.
Noble team is a Spartan 3 fireteam; however, because of their individual capabilities they were given the MJOLNIR armor of the Spartan 2 and assigned to the special DreamTeam known as Nobel
thank god you didn't cover halo 4, spartan ops, and 5
Why, 343i actually is more true to the lore then Bungie. Halo 4 had a great story and 5s wasn't bad, it just had boring characters.
Chillydogdude No I'm not saying cause they're bad, I'm saying cause it would've been 10x longer.
+Retriolov Oh sorry, yeah you're totally right.
+Retriolov should've added red vs blue just to be mean
Yep
"that dust malfunctioned"
I guess that's one way of putting it. Humans fed the dust to what was basically their dogs
I read the fucking books and the forerunners defeated the humans and killed most of them and reverted them back to infancy back on their own planet earth as cavemen.
+Michael Weston Your point?
Why's the little brown alien baby in the thumbnail look fresh as fuck
Thats the dumb 343 addition to the story, not the original Bungie story
KurasakiBleachigo1 oh I see
Michael Weston the original design for the forerunners was amazing. A great nearly-perfect race that we see as sort of our parents in evolution. They lead us with leftover trails and we're thankful to them. unfortunately they died out due to the flood, and knowing they were going extinct, they set up humans to be the new protectors of the universe
Sounds to me like the whole "starving the flood" thing DIDN'T FUCKIN WORK AT ALL.
Correct. The best laid plans are doomed to fail when one is trying to undermine literal godlike beings. The Precursors had a plan for the Flood, beyond destroying the Forerunners.
It also doesn't help when you keep a few specimens in laboratories to experiment on!
I thought I knew the Halo series but now this makes total sense
Please keep making these! I am learning so much from you!
Halo turned into some Cthulhu type shit.
Lol
Love your rants, bro.
Maple Otaku Thanks! :)
You mean since the 1st game?
I am surprised you didn't mention Master Chief.
Chief wasn't that big overall in the Halo story.
A shame he didn't show the Arbiter killing the last Prophet though; that's an ACTUAL important moment, because it ended the Human Covenant war.
Until 343 ruined it.
that just shows how could the story is ;-)
Zelousmarineinspace he did show the arbiter killing the prophet with an energy sword, it was near the end.
Zelousmarineinspace Well that last scene of the Elite stabbing the prophet was literally the same image of when the Arbiter did it.
Can you do the entire pacman storyline in 3 minutes please!!!
Pretty sure only one precursor survived and they intentionally turned themself into the flood for revenge.
there go.. don't need to play the games now =3
cuz of spoilers =
+Fuzzycat It doesn't cover everything
Junior Dianite no really? -_-
it covers the main shit, not the filler stuff=3
+Fuzzycat no shit
***** I answered all possible questions .
So halo takes place before Christ?
The Halo games take place in the year 2552, but the backstory for it goes back well over 100 thousand years.
+FireDragons42 I was confused since the last date he shows is 958 bc
EXPLOSIVE STRAWBERRY Yeah, that is about the time when the Elites and the Prophets had their war over how to use Forerunner technology (the Prophets wanted to study it and learn from it believing it to be gifts from the gods, while the Elites revered it but thought that Forerunner sites should not be desecrated and left alone) and eventually formed the Covenant.
+FireDragons42 yes I know now.
This further "proves" my theory that the Gods we worship are merely powerful aliens
Thanks for simplifying it.
The Forerunners actually exiled themselves from the galaxy for activating the halo rings and moved to the Andromeda Galaxy. If any of you were wondering.
Cool, thanks for sharing that tidbit Enrique!
Your Welcome + Thank you SO MUCH for replying.
Love your vids.
No problem. Glad to hear you're digging our vids!
ArcadeCloud I also love it teaches me so much :-D keep on doing on what your doing
i thought that forerunner tech would not be able to travel intergalactically. Right?
those 3 minutes were better than halo 4 and 5
And Spartan Assualt, And Spartan Strike....
Too bad it uses a lot of the lore made with Halo 4 and 5 to explain the Forerunners and the Precursors. The video also contains a hell lot of inaccurate or directly wrong statements
Thank you for being one of the only videos that has ALL the Lore lol.
I fucking love this guy :D

The Muffin Mann Damn I'm so wrong, don't forget the classic 'we' re getting beat but somehow one squad wins it for us'
+The Muffin Mann yo don't forget about cod ghosts and there advance dogs
100 Percent Truth I understand the campaign has the most retarded plot on earth but he zombies plot is actualy super fucking long and crazy, look at the wikipedia page on it.
That's impossible
I needed this
I recently got into Halo and all the explanations are 10+ minutes long, but this one explains it perfectly in such small time.
Theodore Rosevelt I like that comparison.
They saved humans because they realized they were wrong.
A forerunner life worker (the librarian) along with other forerunners betrayed their race in order to save all the possible living beings,so they kept them save in The Ark,happened a lot of things (you should look more details by your own) and the rings were activated.
This "librarian" was different from the others Forerunner and she felt respect for all kind of live.
Never liked the fact that Haloverse humans are oh so special.
This means you are a filthy alien not part of humanity.

***The Halo ring was found AFTER the Human-Covenant-War started.
Oh really? Interesting. So the artifacts on Harvest were already enough to spark the war, didnt know that, thanks!
who here actually spared the grunts because they were so cute to kill
Me
+Francis De Mesa well the fact that they are covenant slaves and that they break and run half the time also make me spare them
I didn't just image how much humans they will kill
They were actually badass at one point
Depends on their commander and mission.
Best recap up to the end of the Human-Covenant war. Best recap ever. - Rickey
"The prophets are a bunch of fucking liars" 😂😂
Not all of them. :P
Man I loved what 343 was doing but I didnt know they changed the whole original story, fuck that.
+Mormaxim TheKingslayer They never "Changed" anything.
Bungie never focused on the lore and ignored it. This led to a lot of situations where Bungie screwed it up. 343i wants to show that there is expanded universe. They changed it but they made it better and unlike Bungie they actually acknowledge it. They also didn't change too much, but they more have just revamped it.
Chillydogdude I understand and I still prefer 343's work, I just preferred the old origins.
+Mormaxim TheKingslayer Yesh, I agree Halo 3 is the best. I just done think 343i deserves all the hate they get
it is pretty much the same origin, Bungie just didn't explain it well enough
No other video game franchise has the deep and rich lore like halo does and that's why i love halo
good thing they stopped after halo 3 hey then you would have to go even more deep to 343's lore.
Everything presented before 2525 is 343's lore, not just what comes after 2552.
***** Technically, Halo: Reach is higher on the hierarchy of canon than the Fall of Reach novel, So it is definitively canon. The 2010 "Ultimate Edition" of the novel was a retcon to make the novel match the new canon of the game, so we'd have one coherent narrative.
***** And?? Both Reach and Fall of Reach are canon.
***** I'm not sure where you're getting this "either-or" idea from. 343's policy is that in so far as they don't irreconcilably contradict, they are both canon. The presence of the novel does not nullify the events of the game.
+Daiya Shoko
STOP THIS BULLSHIT.
REACH. IS.
SO MUCH F*CKING SIMPLIER THAN THE RECLAIMER SERIES JEEZ
well, this explains nothing about the reclaimer series, plus its not done yet.
Actually, the original series is nowhere near this simple. Thing is, you have to leave A LOT out to make a three minute video. In fact, a lot of what's in the games draws from lore that's been there for a while. A lot of it is new, as well, but not that much more complicated than the lore already in place.
transformersloverjon
i know, but i thought the reclaimer series is pretty complicated with even MORE forruner things.
+GamingEtc i think the reclaimer saga just lacks explanation. If everything in it was explained better it would probably seem pretty simple.
'TisWandy I think a simple explanation is this, everyone just wants to be the superior species.
Wow, the TV series shows almost none of this
I hate the Flood music, so freaky!
Thank you for not including Halo 4 and beyond
I love the dramatic pause "...everything dies..."
where did master chief fit into all of this?
the last like 20 seconds i believe, as the last 30 are not in detail at all because its impossible to fit that much information
14 years before the the human covie war
Brandon Taylor very little he's just a warrior in the bigger picture
I don't understand why everyone is so butt hurt over Halo 4. The story ended at Halo 3. Everything after that is irrelevant.
It's called halo parasite my frnd.
Actually, the story doesn't end at 3, it continues to 4 and 5. heres a chart if your confused.

+Andrewx8 88 you're obviously the confused one lol
Your right the future games are just to tell some story's about the forerunners and how mankind re obtains the mantle but the primary story is finished
It is nice to see chief made it off that ship though.
the best 3mins I watched out of a bunch. GOOOD.
The full story
The precursors give the mantel of responsibility to the forerunners but its ends up with the humans , the precursors turn their bodies into dust so they , in the future , come back turn to life but end up becoming the flood.

Here after Halo Infinite reveal at E3
that was pretty insane how you got all that in without mentioning the chief impressive honestly
And then 343 came
Huh?
We don't talk about that here
Ironically Most of the past story is explained by 343.
so there were humans before earth existed and then they were respawned from a dna sample after the Halo explosion and thats when evolution started as we know it?
There were prehistoric humans (Not prehistoric like cavemen, an incredibly long time before them) that were about as advanced as the Forerunners. They all were either killed by the Flood or the Forerunners, except for the DNA the forerunners saved to repopulate the galaxy. They were put on Earth, then the human timeline as we know it begins.
+FALCO LOMBARDI basically, time restarted after the halo explosion
+Waffle Food not time just the human race , yeah sort of

IMO 343's changes to the lore make Halo sound like some 14 year-old's bad fan-fiction.
+Happie Wolf And bungie ignored it.
+pieman141 They can't really do anything about it. They can talk shit and point out stuff but they sold Halo to 343. You can't really do anything about the paintjob the guy you sold your car too did on it, no matter how shit it is.
Keyser Soze I meant that Bungie ignored the lore. Example: Halo Reach
+Happie Wolf 343 has the EXACT same writers that worked on Halo from the beginning.
KyoBladezen That really doesn't change anything... It's still terrible. Just makes me wonder why the writers would butcher their own work.
4 forerunners dislike
All that story packed in a convenient 3 minutes...nice
More accurate then halo follower😂
... incorrect. the flood kill two of the great prophets, and the master chief kills the other one. you also never mentioned Spartans. I would recommend making a refined version, maybe five minutes, with more stuff and more updated stuff. maybe mention some theories. (gravemind = precursor?) and some lore not mentioned in the games (like when the didact was cool.) (and all the stuff that happened after 1-3.)
No the whole point of this is entertainment so it only goes for 3 mins not five
the gravemind is basically a precursor you could say.
Clorox Bleach well, yeah. not only is it a giant flood (moldy god dust) but he is still upholding the mantle of responsibility. (bringing all life in the galaxy to the same technological and intelligence level, as in, flood infested.)
so yeah, popular theory with a lot of proof.
Titon Iridion true.
Rian MacLennan I can be entertained for five minutes...
Been following Halo for years and I've never once heard that's how the flood was created.
except for the halo 4 and 5 story, or reach lol.. but i dont like to think halo 4 or 5 is cannon and reach doesnt really have a big impact on the game.
+Mayhemm well reach still happens in this video
brendan mount tru
4 and 5 are cannon
Radio ToraDora yeah but not im my heart lol. why the forerunners look like transforers and the armor look like power rangers lol xD
Mayhemm dunno, I just want a proper Halo (flood horror) movie and forerunner/human war game or a halo game with all the weapons and species.
BAM! That's what I wan't!
there should never have been a halo 4...should have left the Halo series a honorable death
+Count Cuhteo
I agree.
+Layson Samson
From what I know (And this part is hearsay, that I heard from several people), apparently halo two wasn't supposed to end in a cliffhanger, and Microsoft forced them to extend the storyline in the name of getting another sequel (and the fact that the first couple of levels of halo 2 were initially much longer and complex, then downgraded supports this I feel).
+Layson Samson
Oh good!
You are foreunner"... hard to be clearer than that, but they manage to ignore it, to the point where aspects of the previous games no longer make sense if you take their added storyline, which in truth verges on fanfiction (Or so I think)
I think the problem with 343 is actually highlighted in their name (And I wonder if it was an in joke). They are an artificial construct, created by Microsoft for the sole purpose of keeping the cash cow alive- The fact that five in particular seemed to be more interested in keeping up with the rest of industry, rather than setting the trends showed that pretty well (E.g, the sudden adoption of a squad structure and revives etc)
But, I will say, whilst I dislike them, I don't hate them.
WOAH WOAH WOAH!!! you still have halo 4,5,wars 1 and 2, and maybe 6 to go for
Let's activate the gigantic ring-shaped device so the old gods could come forth and help us ascend.
So yeah, religions really are the death of reason.
+MJk Slasher It's a goddamn video game.
+DawgZee808
Cortana going "insane" (It's called rampancy) was going to happen eventually. AI only last 7 years at maximum in the halo universe before they think themselves to death. That's just how it is. It's not something 343 made up. At any rate she isn't dead anyway so what's the problem?

+MercenaryX21 B.C.E. is the correct term.
Japeth555 Unless it's for Before Christian Era or Before Combat Evolved, then no it is not the correct term, and it will never be the correct term, And don't bother telling me other wise because I'm sticking to this like a deck on a sinking ship.
MercenaryX21 B.C. doesn't make sense because Jesus was actually born somewhere between 6 and 4 B.C.
Japeth555 Prove it.
That was surprisingly really well done for 3mins
the flood origin explanation was mad funny
this is actually super on point
hah i like how the song gets dark when it became the flood 0:48
The biggest battle in history of halo: the forerunner flood war.
Thank you. I now understand in three minutes a storyline which I've been going "what the fuck is happening" for years.
