    Born in 1995, I'm italian.
Some of these anime were super popular here, many people of my generation grew up with 80s anime. Captain Harlock, Urusei Yatsura, Saint Seya, Cat's Eye and Hokuto no Ken still had re-runs in the 90s and early 2000s.

I'm italian aswell, but 10 years older, and I can say that pretty much all the anime in the list before around 2005 were aired here in Italy, and I can still sing all the openings for the anime you mentioned as having re-runs out of memory, and I'm confident I won't miss a single word :D

Back in 2004 I was looking for a physical copy of the Bubblgum Crisis vocal collection. One store had it, but then they didn't and I couldn't find it after that. That soundtrack became very important to me over the years. It has since been remastered a few years ago.

I love 80s anime songs from series such as Kimagure Orange Road, Bubblegum Crisis, Heavy Metal L-Gaim, Metal Armor Dragonar, and Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross. The Urusei Yatsura movie ending themes are also good. Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Space Battleship Yamato, and Galaxy Express 999 have great openings and endings. Old super robot songs are worth listening to. Daitarn 3, Grendizer, Daimos, Getter Robot, Combattler V, Mazinger Z.

7:46! Yes! It's roughly inspired by the Van Helsing character from _Dracula,_ only they're an organization of vampire hunters. There's also an Alucard, who is likely Dracula himself, as it was in _Dracula._

Born in 1971, I grew up with Grendizer (called Goldorak in my country), Captain Herlock (Albator) or Candy Candy.
Candy follows the journey of a young girl from her birth to her 18th birthday. This happened in the USA and the UK before and during the First World War. Abandoned baby, then adopted by a rich family, some members of which despise her and others who are very welcoming. A realistic anime, funny and sad as life is.
Grendizer follows, in the 70’s, the fight of a prince from another planet on Earth. Against a warlike army wanting to enslave our planet as it did with his own planet. Giant robot fights. A spectacle indeed!
Captain Herlock follows the fight, around the year 3000, of a sort of space pirate made responsible for the problems on Earth when these are caused by alien warrior women.
But back then, there was also Gatchaman or Kum Kum.😊 Great era.

Anything that writer (Jun Maeda) and/or Company (Key) creates is pure evil depression but is all some of my favourite anime and/or Visual Novels (Which I've been playing through in release order, only up to AIR (2nd one) though)
Kanon, AIR, CLANNAD and Planetarian are all just as great. Also Angel Beats! has a visual novel called Angel Beats! 1st Beat which was only released in Japan but has a free English translation - there is so much choice and variation on Angel Beats! within that game that is all great as well

@GazMASH Cuts! I have been watching anime for about 11 years now. I used to watch it on TV when it aired and then picked it up later. I have watched majority of the titles featured in here. Only to point out, Urusei Yatsura, Inu Yasha and Ranma 1/2 are works of Rumiko Takahashi sensei (who is writing new material till date). Inu Yasha is probably her most famous work but for me it is Ranma 1/2. I have enjoyed all the animes and would say that the 70s-90s was the golden era of anime and manga.

Lupin The III is such a great series.
The original Urusei Yatsura openings are superior to the remake, cause they came out in the 80s, where the good music was-
InuYasha is a masterpiece and deserves to be seen.
Hellsing is its own thing and is a great horror series.
Any song by T.M. Revolution is very very good.
The Air opening is top tier. The full version is absolutely beautiful.
The official Mashle music video that Creepy Nuts uploaded got 3 million views in the first 30 minutes. It's currently sitting at 101 million. The Mashle author deserves all the love and support he receives.

I have a question: How was this list determined? Is it based on the revenue the songs generated during each year?
The first anime I was able to memorize was "Fushigi no Umi no Nadia" which aired in Germany under the name "Die Macht des Zaubersteins" (literally translated as "The Power of the Magic Stone"), then Naruto, Evangelion (even though I never really watched it), Pokémon, InuYasha and the other big shows such as One Piece. Even though, it is a bit early for the most successful OP of 2024, "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" is on a conquest to become the most successful anime OP (nine consecutive weeks at no. 1 in the Billboard Japan Hot 100, chart positions in the official Korean and French singles charts are at least indicators).
Some anime of my childhood (without even knowing that it was anime by that time) were "Heidi", "Maya the Honey Bee", "Vicky the Viking", "Bumpety Boo", "Mila Superstar" and "Calimero". I was surprised when I found out that these were originally anime series. Maybe it has to do with the localized opening themes that I was unaware of it for so long.

2:06 Its weird you don't recognize Urusei Yatsura. It got remade in 2022 and i'm sure you listened to new openings.
For 1999 my pick is Digimon Adventure. One Piece opening is slightly more popular.
For 2012 my pick is Fate/Zero opening 2. Nowhere near top of popular openings.
For 2019 i have to mention Promised Neverland and Vinland Saga opening 1.

I have a confession to make: except for Cobra, I've seen all the anime in this list. Born in 1985 in Italy (that is the first western Country to import anime, really), in the early 1990s we still had reruns of 1970's anime, like Gundam and Captain Harlock, plus new (for Italy, i.e. Saint Seiya was a 1986 anime in Japan, but the premiére in Italy was March 11 1990) anime.
So, yeah, I've seen them all -1, especially the ones that became cult classics, like Hokuto no Ken, Saint Seiya, City Hunter, Cat's Eyes, and Urusei Yatsura.
Fun Fact: you can't watch Candy Candy anywhere legally anymore, it has disappeared, despite being a great historical drama. That's because the 2 co-authors of the manga, Kyoko Mizuki (the writer) and Yumiko Higarashi (the artist), entered a legal litigation over the rights of the opera, litigation that hasn't be resolved yet, and so the rights to everything related to the IP are frozen by Japanese law.

Out of the Shonen big ones: Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto and Bleach, if you were to get into one of these long series, I'd personally recommend Dragon Ball first. It's pretty much widely considered the father of Shonen battle manga/anime that many others took inspiration from (and continued to do so) and should be given a chance to watch by all anime lovers. The story is pretty simple and straightforward when compared to the more modern anime successors, but the characters and the fighting are what it's all about and you'll see why it continues to be as legendary as it is to these days. Also, the Dragon Ball series are in this order:
    - Dragon Ball
    - Dragon Ball Z (direct sequel to Dragon Ball)
    - Dragon Ball GT (sort of a sequel and alternate universe/non-canon to Dragon Ball Z)
    - Dragon Ball Super (direct sequel to Dragon Ball Z - ignores GT's timeline)
    - Dragon Ball Daima (not yet released)
While a lot of people started first with Dragon Ball Z (mainly because it's the one they first brought over before bringing the older one after the series has exploded in popularity), I'd recommend for you to start from the very first Dragon Ball as it will introduce many major characters that will be relevant throughout the long history of the series. GT is often considered the rotten egg of the bunch and you may skip it, although it does have some very cool moments and character designs in there that certainly make up for its many flaws.
As for the other big ones, I wholeheartedly recommend One Piece, which is WAYYYY better than the Netflix live action version (not that the live action is terrible, in fact, it's really well done for such adaptation - it's just that it still couldn't beat the original is all), but keep in mind that you'll be in for a very long journey, one that has yet to end... Meanwhile, Naruto and Bleach have both already come to their conclusions - except for the fact that Naruto has an ongoing sequel called Boruto and Bleach only ended as a manga, where the anime has only recently been continued, which contributed to its hype on the return to the screen. So if you want to get into something that you can finish, go for Naruto but otherwise, I'd recommend One Piece over Bleach.

I really like your channel and your videos man, but not knowing the name "Hokuto no Ken" or "First of the North Star" (title in English), is cause for your anime fan license to be revoked!
Hokuto no Ken began to be published in 1983 until 1988, having to date more than 100 million copies sold, it has inspired great mangakas such as the late Kentaro Miura (Berserk) and Makoto Yukimura (Vinland Saga), it has been adapted into series and anime movies, live-action movies, novels, video games, I think there are even stage musicals.
Not to mention that it originated one of the greatest memes on the internet!! Just search for "Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru" ("You Are Already Dead").
Also still asking for some l'arc-en-ciel anime songs reaction!

And for '86, sure Saint Seiya is the right pick here, but Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin was just such a big deal here in the Nordics and was the SECOND anime I remember seeing.

Glad when you do these, brotha! Anime opened me up to some of my all-time favorite songs and bands that I hadn't known prior. Here are a few for your consideration:
🤖 Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song (intense future dystopian show and OP, ED & inserts are great)
⏪ ERASED (co-signing this one because "RE:RE" is an amazing song and, as a fellow girl-dad, I think the show will tap-dance all over your heartstrings 💔😭😭)
😈 The Devil is a Part-timer (HILARIOUS slice-of-life show, plus Minami Kuribayashi's "ZERO!!" and nano.RIPE with three EDs deserve to be put on repeat 🔂)
🆚 Food Wars (cooking is humorously sexy 😵 but several great OPs & EDs by some artists/bands you may or may not have heard before)
And a bonus suggestion for jealkb who have done anime songs but may have your new favorite song with the following (pronounced "Chikai"):

First of all, how strange it wasn't slam dunk. If we start from the 80s/90s, the 3 biggest were Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon. inspiration for many later animes.
As a child I saw, in the 90s:
candy candy (still from the 70s)
    grendizer (still from the 70s)
    Saint Seiya
    sailor Moon
    dragon ball
Space cobra (still from the 80s)
    neon Genesis Evangelion
    Cowboy bebop.
