This was a good video but the middle chapters felt like triple h bashing. The defence/apology for rock in hollywood was really noticeable especially the hall of fame complaint.
I absolutely enjoy , this episode. It really brought to light rivalry between the rock and the game h.h.h. It was so detailed in path of each of them. And how they're intertwined in a never ending battle to one up each other. You have fired up the interest of the future the rivalry ??? What will be next move ??? Or will the daughter s continue it ??? Thank you so much
This video is outstanding! You guys really have something special going on there at Wrestletalk this is as good as any documentary I’ve seen on Netflix. I’m glad to be a Patreon and keep doing what you’re doing. It’s great.
@carter3369 you're getting your ppv's mixed up. It was summerslam 99 that Austin didn't wanna put over HHH, hence why they had Foley win. By Survivor Series, Austin legit needed neck surgery so they wrote him out with the hut and run angle.
This was a BRILLIANT documentary 👏🏻 Awesome work WrestleTalk, Oli and Pete! Millions of people need to see this video and all of your other videos like this one. Can't wait to see more docs y'all have in the pipeline!
Triple H beat him most of the time via screwjobs, that's what I remember. The true happy ending is The Rock winning due to the bullying and screw jobs. It wasn't Rock's fault he was born with connections and on top of it he was naturally superior to HHH anyway. That's why Rock winning this hypothetical final match would be true justice.
HHH said he regrets not ending his feud with Rock at a wrestlemania. Closest we got was that 4 way match in 2000. I still say the best they did was SummerSlam in ‘98. Really good shit.
These new longtime videos are absolutely amazing. You all have found your niche with news aggregation, podcasts & video essays and you all are knocking it out of the park. Keep up the amazing work!
This is such good content, thanks lads! Perfect for a rainy Saturday like or when I enjoy my first cup of coffee on Sunday morning. Thanks for all the effort you put in this documentaries
I don't believe the Iron Man Match exposed The Rock at all. He worked his ass off, just like HHH. Watch his matches with Benoit. Rock can keep up with any technician. Also, Rock pulled out all the stops athletically in the match.
These documentary style videos are amazing. I appreciate the effort yall put into such content. I'd definitely sign up to your pateron if i had more money 😅
HHH & HBK tried to ruin The Rock. They even tried to get Bret Hart to take the IC strap from The Rock, but Bret knew what they were trying to do and refused.
Can I add a few things that are missed in this episode. We all know the Klique, we all their antics to maintain power. But how about the the factions that opposed them. The Rock says that after Wrestlemania 17, he thanked Austin for everything he did for him. I wish people would dig a little deeper on what The Rock means by that because in interviews Stone Cold has said that early on in The Rocks career, he would tell the front office that The Rock has potential and he's the kinda guy he can work with in the future. Stone Cold is protecting The Rock and its during this time as pointed out in this video, that both Shawn Michaels & HHH are working against him. Also during this time as pointed out in this video Brett Hart refused to bury The Rock for the IC belt. And as everyone knows Brett & Austin were great friends. We also know that Brett & HBK are NOT the best of friends. O hey what a coincidence? Also, during the time The Rock is fueding with Billy Gun & HHH is Champion in 1999, is when Austin is in & out the ring with injury/hit with a car kayfabe. I believe it's Prichard who said The Rock was extremely unhappy with working with Billy Gun during this time period too. Coincidence? The Klique is largely thought of as 1 group verse everyone or smaller factions. But the other faction was basically The Harts/Stone Cold & The Rock. But that's glossed over, not just this video but generally when this topic is talked about, it's glossed over.
I think this is one of the better video essays the team has done! I do like that it's a rarely discussed angle yet so incredibly pertinent leading up to WrestleMania. Thank you Oli and Pete for excellent work once again
These videos are literally so great that if you started a docupage on UA-cam just for historic bits like these, myself and several other hundred thousand ppl would subscribe and watch every video. Great work! Sending love from Puerto Rico!!

Triple H's marathon iron-man match with The Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania 12 is the stuff of legend. The crowd was chanting "Fight Forever" at fever pitch. One of the greatest matches of all time.
the first portion of the video has me going "oh yeah that's pretty crazy" to having the X-Files theme playing as I'm mapping out everything and freaking out like Jim Carrey in 23!!
Great video! Really enjoyed that! And I never realized many of those parallels between the two. Interesting. Something you didn't really emphasize at the end is how they have sort of switch sides. Rock used to be the one beloved by the fans, but now it's HHH that everyone loves.
GREAT video. Please do one on Austin walking out in 2002. A lot of fans think he just randomly did it. Looking back at his frustrating booking in 2001/2002 + Byte This rants + PW Torch reports of Vince messing with him now that he had more leverage.
24:25 I know you probably know this anyway but The Rock was also in the 1998 royal rumble, entering number 4 or 5 and was the last person eliminated, by Austin. This is really enjoyable, more of these please 👍🏾👍🏾

It was supposed to happen at Survivor Series 99 bur Rock and Austin didn’t wanna put over HHH.
