If he could afford a private attorney he can pay the taxpayers back for using the public defender.

It’s obvious that the defendant had no intention of hiring a private attorney; as Judge Simpson said, he was trying to delay the trial, probably because the evidence was too strong for him to beat. I’m actually really suspicious that his public defender put him up to it, because her manner was very hesitant and odd, and it seems obvious that she was surprised that the prosecution’s offer was still on the table. I hope Judge Simpson gives the eejit 1 year and not probation at his sentencing hearing.

He wasn’t going to appoint a private one in my opinion, get a delay then come back and say he’s not got the money, kick the can down the road again as one needs to be appointed again. It was just a tactic.

*It was all a delay tactic!!* Judge Simpson even said it, so the defendant knew his @ss was grass and freaked out. I strongly suspect that his public defender hatched this plot because she acted very strange, not like her usual self. It’s obvious that the guy’s father was ready to testify and the other evidence must have been really strong to freak him out like that. But the defendant had no intention of hiring anybody….he’s a l*ser.

I was once called in for jury duty. We were lined up waiting to go in for the selection process. The prosecutor came out and let us know that we were all dismissed with the court's thanks. Seems that once the defendant walked into the hallway and saw us there, it became very real to them, and they ended up taking a plea.

Like poker: every judge has a tell. Judge Simpson has a few of them. His best known tell is when calls for "Mr Allen." When that happens and Deputy Allen makes that walk behind a defendant: that means the defendant's ass is going to jail. But Judge Simpson's other tell is when he sits straight up and slightly leans back into his chair. When he does that, he knows he going to hear something (usually from the defense table {but sometimes from the prosecution side as well . . .}), that sounds like someone is trys trying to pull a fast one over the court (i.e.: like someone caught lying to Judge Simpson; a lawyer whose conduct is unbecoming in court; a sovereign citizen (sovcidiot). And in that position, Judge Simpson starts interrogating the defense-defendant, it's usually going to go real bad - because Juge Simpson is already pissed and he's about to drop the hammer down on the defendant for trying to be slick. And at the beginning of this video, you can see (and by watching Judge Simpson's tell), this is not going to go well for the defendant.
