I too have been watching since the beginning. I like when he is funny, but my favorite is when he looks at big mistakes and tells you what should have been done. It’s made the last two years better
He helped me through a major depression. Some days all I did was binge watch his videos. I don't know if UA-camrs realize the positive affect they can have, but they make the world a far more pleasant place to be. Laughing truly is the best medicine.

The last one looks kind of like hospital hair. We have many patients that have to get rid of a lot of hair after a few months/years in the hospital because it’s so damaged or nutrient deficient

These videos have scared me away from home bleaching. I'll color my kids hair anything they want--my own is dark blue atm--but I take our brunette selves to the salon for professional bleaching first!
Yeah, I have to save up for it, but fixing bleach mistakes can be even pricier--let alone hospital bills!

I cut and color my own hair and have been doing it for many years. It most often turns out the way I want it to. Once I tried to lighten my dark red hair to blonde I got pumpkin color, once I went to cut it off and ended up having to do a buzz cut, wrong comb on clippers. But I can honestly say that I've never had my hair to smoke.

Funny how certain things can trigger a memory. That shiny, shiny hair? It reminds me of when I was a little girl and wanted a pair of patent leather shoes. My Mum always bought us leather shoes for our growing feet but not patent leather because the feet cannot " breathe " nor move naturally encased in solid patent leather.. But I never thought I'd see the day when you could have patent leather hair.. and it was awful!

Oh do I have a story, for once. Lol. For the 2nd time in almost 30 yrs of doing my own hair, this was the worst time it went all down hill. First time I blame quick blue since that was recommended to me because my hair was dark like a level 1 or 2 dark with red hair coloring. That 1st time I bleached my hair 5 or 6 times in one week. I couldn't get the orange/red out of my hair no matter what I did. This was like 7 or 8 yrs ago. Way before there were any good tutorials on bleaching, toning, etc. I actually wanted to go blonde, then. So when I decided to tone my hair finally, that's when it all fell out. Not during the bleaching process, mind you. My scalp never got irritated at all with bleaching, but the toning process burned my scalp, turned it flaming red and all of my hair fell out at once, into my hand once I went to rinse it out. I bought and wore wigs for about a year until it grew out enough to be presentable.
My hair meant everything to me. Growing up my mom cut my hair short, and I mean short, because she didn't like long hair and didn't want to clean it up. My mom was neurotic about everything being clean and tidy. Which meant I had "Karen" cuts, mullets, perms, any style suitable for adults 50+, nothing below my neck ever growing up. I wasn't allowed to choose what I wanted to do with my hair. You can imagine the bullying I got through the yrs. Ppl thought I was a boy, many times. Once I explained how my mother was most ppl thought she was crazy and backed off, but as a child like 5, 6, 7 yrs old ppl were cruel. When I told my mom about the bullying, she told me that I was wrong and stupid, bullying doesn't exist because she didn't see it happen. Nothing exists to my mother unless someone other than me corrects her or she actually sees it herself and even then she will sometimes deny it. She's the type where if you tell her the sky is blue and the grass is green, will say, "could be". So to say the least I was devastated when my hair feel out. Of course, my mom loved my hair. I had like a centimeter of hair length left after that bleaching. My hair grew fast at least. Took maybe a yr and a half to grow back to its former length.
So come 4 days ago, I have been bleaching my hair since my first debacle and never had a problem, also kept up with my roots, until 4 months ago, so I was due for a bleach session. I have been deep conditioning, using serums, etc, to take care of my hair in between. So I did a bleach bath first, no problem got most of the color out and lightened my roots. Then I bleached the rest to lighten it and even it out in order to dye it different colors.. I always use 20 developer. That's when it burned my scalp which has never happened before. So when I rinsed it out, my hair broke. At least it didn't melt, just broke. Not short at least. I probably shouldn't have done it because I have psoriasis and I was having a really bad attack, tho I didn't realize it until the actual bleaching process.
I conditioned my hair and went out to get a deep conditioner and more developer for later because now I have a brown patch going around the top layer of my hair around the middle across, along with pink ends. The employee there said I need a blue based bleach to get rid of the orange red color I had left. She recommended Quick Blue or Wella and I told her I'd never/cannot use Quick Blue again, she kept insisting I needed a blue based bleach or it's never coming out until i told her I was going to dye it green, then she backed off. Geez, if a customer says they won't or can't use a product, why would you keep insisting they need it? Anyways, The pink I don't care about because I'm dying my hair green but it's not going to cover that brown area, plus I'm split dying it one side green and the other side a lighter color. The lighter color won't cover the brown.
I need to wait a week and treat my psoriasis first before so my scalp can heal. So now my hair looks like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket if I don't treat it. At least I can actually go out without wigs this time around. My fault for not recognizing how serious my psoriasis attack was.

@@lenna5340 It comes and goes. I've had to forego bleaching and dyeing my hair for now. My psoriatic arthritis ended up really bad from my psoriasis, which isn't backing down, so I'm waiting for referrals to other specialists to have them help me manage it because what I'm doing and used to do isn't working. Since it's am autoimmune disease it comes and goes in waves, so one day it'll keep me bedridden and other days I can function somewhat normally, but I don't know what I'm going to get until that particular day. So fun...
One time, WAY back in 1985, we bleached our friend's hair. He was overdue. I have no idea how it happened, but we got blonde at the roots, a red to orange flame color just before almost transparent tips. It was the best color ever and we'll never know how it happened.
Also the same year, we tried to bleach another friend. I'm not sure what happened there either, what box colors he had on what lengths, but he turned out the most gorgeous calico! Again, will never be able to repeat it, sadly.
Not all bleach fails are actually fails. Some end up very happy accidents (that you'll never be able to reproduce).

That last one may have been someone who had big dreads for a long time, and that was the stuff conditioned out and thinned out too.
The guy before that with a shaved patch is damn lucky he's a guy with short hair there, because that shit grows back so damn fast! Just use a little bit of eye shadow or tint that matches the skin that ISN'T bright white, until there is hair to cover that.

That second or third clip you showed with manic panic flash lightening…. They did something wrong. My hubby has dark brown hair, like 8.5-9. I used the manic panic flash lightening and brought him to a level 2. They did not properly saturate the hair. I’m surprised it wasn’t patchy. But they also did not leave it on long enough.
Could you elaborate more please on the dusting technique and why it's not great for long hair? Thank you

I foil mine about 60% of it. And it comes out great I also have years of experience so I know what I'm doing but it's still extremely difficult!!

People won't bleach their color out because they think it's too damaging...but apparently have no problem using baking soda, dandruff shampoo, dish soap, and 30 vol. developer instead of 10 🤦♀️

This is why I pay a hair stylist to bleach my roots when they get too dark. ( I have platinum blonde ends) I understand some people may not be able to afford to have a hair stylist do it for them. I was in the situation a few months ago. I will say it is worth the money to pay a professional to do it correctly the first time. Edit: you are very funny and I enjoy watching your content it makes me feel better about my own bad hair choices. I only ever did box dye and one Covid hair cut.
Yesterday I bleachbathed? my own hair ... I needed to. I was stressed because of a guy, and woman have this crazy thing, that they need to do something with their hair when things like that happen ...
And I was feeling down, and something in my head said: JUST DO IT! And it worked, I was fine afterwards!
But it's probably patchy AF, but I don't mind.
I'm actually doing semi-free-fall-dreads, meaning I didn't brush my hair since somewhen in september. And because I don't want a mono-dread, after showering and in between, I try to detangle the future-to-be-dreads.
So that's something, what other people would be in shock to have on their head, but I LOVE it!
My hair is going wild, it's going free, it's going crazy and that's just what I want. I think I'm living out this side of me with my hair right now.
Looking forward to how it's gonna be in months.

Just going for it, because I hated, since EVER, brushing my hair.
It's not easy to brush and it tangles just from ... nothing? I hated being at the hairsalon, because the hairdresser thought, that once they brushed my hair, they could go through with their comb without being stuck in it, WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE!

So now I'm trying something new, something crazy. (Just didn't think about it ... or didn't know ... well from where? that it would be even more work, in between. But I like how it looks until now! Since day 1! My hair looks like the mane of a lion! LOVE IT! I thought I would be walking around with a hat for months, but noooo, I LOVE IT!)
So yeah, yesterday I lightened it up a little again. I think tomorrow or the day after I will put purple colour in it again.
And then maybe make new photos, because I'm trying to keep record of ... whatever my hair is doing right now, just because ... I don't know, going dreads is a big step. And I just felt like maybe starting to make photos every once in a while, just ... to keep record.
But seriously, don't do that, if you love your hair in long, and nice, and healthy and shiny and such.
If the developer is doing all the lifting, what is the powder for?
So what is the correct way to wash off color ?
And just like that I realize me going from teal & blue to light brown with blonde streaks was clearly a real feat without melting my entire head 🤣😂🤣 just a little education goes a long way 😵lolz
