Porter , Ryan said thats why i didnt want to continue. He didnt say i couldnt continue. He said, " I Didn't want to continue! " those are quitting words. Period. The man quit. Hes getting called out for it. Thats on him. Especially since he admitted it and his dad admitted it
I like shakur and tank i think it will be huge but id want to see shakur get a couple more fights under his belt hes still young and hasnt fought anyone close to tanks level yet.
My buddy Los and I were talking about the Davis/Garcia fight, and Los said it plain 'he's young, we have to make allowances for him being young'. As Shawn discussed, Garcia had been living in the sun, and then he got in the ring with Davis, and the rain started. That's tough! So, like, I think he quit - but I feel like I understand *why* he quit, and I get it. The real question is can he allow this to humble him, and build from that - or is he going to lean into the waiting arms of his fanbase, and start yapping again. That's the thing about lessons, you have to let them in. Great podcast, Shawn, thrilled to have found it. You have a great heart, and a gift for imagery.
Man Shawn I use to box at Hal Chernoff’s gym Main Street you make points only ppl in the ring well feel. The conversations building off the points you make will be more verbose if you have ppl to talk to that have been in the ring along with a passion for the sport
@B they have 2 different objectives when they fight because they possess different attributes, but skill-wise, they are just about neck and neck. Also, most of the greats can give up rounds in the first half and take over in the 2nd half of the fight.
@@DaveBoxing their objectives doesn’t change the fact Tank gets hit A LOT more than Stevenson does, he’s more defensively sound and can stay in close/mid range when he wants to with decent power
I'd never heard of Skip Brown before but I'm convinced he's one of the best guests the Porter Way has ever had. Very well-spoken, inquisitive and shows a deep respect for fighters. This man would elevate the podcast if he were a regular co-host. Just a couple of notes for Shawn: 1) as always, you do an amazing job of giving us insight into the mindset of world class fighters but b) try to watch out for over-interjecting with "uh huh's" and "yeah's" while the guest is talking. I think it's great for normal everyday conversation because it shows the speaker you're following but it's distracting on podcasts. If you listen to seasoned interviewers, it seems as though they've almost trained themselves to process what someone is saying while being completely silent. I know you think of media as a craft and just wanted to offer some constructive criticism to give you something to work on.
Great dialogue wonderful show I appreciate you Brothers, but I must say to piggyback on the conversation I believe tank is most dangerous when his a opponent, thanks that he has him. In trouble
I like blue blood let’s keep it real when when he started his channel he knew nothing about boxing this is OK however as he’s quickly learn the sport in my opinion
I said the EXACT same thing about the post fight presser. There’s no way all of sudden someone like DLH got death threats as a retired fighter & never experienced that as a pro & now you’re “scared”
On top of that.. you don’t wanna take away from his moment??? What moment?! He lost by TKO. They would probably be up there bragging & taking away from his moment if he won the fight.
Zepeda versus Emmanuel Tagoe before he faces off against Frank Martin! We still don’t know if he can cut the ring off against a slick fighter. Although Tagoe offensively is weak, he is hard to hit.
My mom did not want me to box either, i had to respect her wishes as a kid. Beat everyone up in the neighborhood too 😂. At 34, I now have ambitions to coach! I just love the sport
Liver shot feels like you are being choked by someone and can't catch your breath for like a quick five seconds. Boxers are warriors because most try to hide the pain and as a boxer too, I can't see their face trying to hide that pain. It's no joke. Different ppl recover from it differently.
Ry was smart to stay down. It's not about if he could physically stand up, its can you win? Can u defend yourself? He got up once from a tight shot. Taking more damage would have proved nothing. Kid gonna go to 140 and campaign there and become champion I believe
Shakur has arguably the highest IQ in boxing. He defeats Tank by decision. Like Shawn has said before, against whatever style or size of the opponent, Shakur finds a way to make the fighter fight Shakur’s fight.
Respectfully ..Ryan v Tank 2 would be unnecessary...the outcome was no different from the "Rollies" fight..in fact it was worse...Rolly only got dropped once..but...both were grossly outmatched
We need the B+ fighter fight the B+ fighter to see who can fight the champs Ryan Garcia should fight Stevenson and Tank should fight the winner between Haney and Loma
When you get hit in the liver and head. Your brain and liver get a wave of force sent through it. And your liver doesn't shift. However, it does ripple. Like when you drop a rock into water.
DBN Dontaes Boxing Nation has become a racist rant for views. There’s no room for that in boxing! Big ups to Porter way podcast, great content, great hosts and great show!!!
When Oscar beat Chavez Sr. I know for a fact he had death threats. I remember when they fought. The Mexican fanbase HATED Oscar and ostracized or Oscarcized him for beating their hero.
Shawn can’t be saying nothing about how Ryan went out and talking bout somebody believing in him when the way he went out wasn’t great either his dad stopped the fight and Shawn wasn’t even hurt he still had a lot of fight in him
Zepeda 🦆🦆🦆🦆 Shakur and HELL NAH to Tank v ryan 2, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TO CANELO V RYDER…absolutely no one wants to see that not even latino boys and they’re down bad currently lmao.
After the Spence fight the more I hear Shawn talk the more I dislike his mindset. You’d think Shawn beat a handful of Hofers and is a boxing guru. That take at the 9:03 - 9:15 minute mark is just overly cringe and delusional. I’m not even hating when I say this, TPWP just isn’t entertaining or informative. It’s like a ham & cheese sandwich. It’s ok, nothing special. That’s this podcast. It’s bland and with Shawn’s acting like the Harvard professor of boxing all of a sudden it’s nearly unbearable. And his co host Anthony is the poster child for what a casual is
That analogy to driving and its start raining outta nowhere was great
When Shawn mentioned Miguel Cotto
Idk why that put a smile on my face, Literally my top 2 favorite fighters
Lol that firework analogy was on point! Exactly how I felt lol

Ok coach Couch Potato
@@Aquaflow_ 😂😂😂 aye that was hella funny I gotta steal that
Great episode my boy from house party last week was tripping tho lbs 😂😂💪🏿💪🏿
Shawn had some good analogies. Loved the reasoning and highway analogy. Great way of understanding the pressure of the moment
Ayo, please do a deep dive on LOMA VS HANEY🥊🥊
Shawn “for the sake of words” Porter 😂
😂🤣😂🤣
Every single time 😂
He is fabulous breaking down a fight in real time however phrases like that in my opinion have kept him from the big time still I love me some shawn
What does that even mean? 😂
@@YourFreeBeats somebody needs to tell him it's 'for lack of a better term'.
Great Interview 🖤✊🏾

Ryan was was a very gracious in his defeat I’ve never heard much on that hopefully they address it in this podcast
Dontae’s Boxing Nation? Ballsy to have him on the show due to his reputation lol not a fan at all
Skip Brown I want a DBN Hat, direct me to the merch
Guest did a tremendous job!
Great show thanks

That boxing points you make
Nobody beating tank right now. He can box just as good as the other top guys but has the power to put any of them down.
Big Facts!
If he could box as well as Stevenson he wouldn’t be losing rounds as often lol
@B they have 2 different objectives when they fight because they possess different attributes, but skill-wise, they are just about neck and neck. Also, most of the greats can give up rounds in the first half and take over in the 2nd half of the fight.
Yeah with advantages ofcourse he won't lose lol 😂.
In a fair fight he loses.

Shakur with 7% of his opp land makes tank lose not once but twice and Shakur will dictate pace so that's the next megawatt non-title fight for sure
I think since GTD really seems like it’s only major money moves rn I would like to see shakur beat Haney then fight tank
4 percent

We did know Ryan was a B- fighter Shawn.Yall just tried to silence anybody who said it.
C+ fighter with the potential to be a B+ fighter if he has a good coach/ is disciplined, listens to trainer
👏👏👏👏 very good episode
Nobody ever says Gatti /Ward anymore , that was a WAR also..
Porter what made u bet on Ryan ?
Have you ever thought about changing your intro music?
I still think pitbull Cruz won that tank Davis fight tho no doubt , I have watched it 3 times n still Cruz won for me .
Shawn is my dawg but his new wardrobe that he tried to rock but a year ago is a major fail😅

Shawn ready to play football again. I wonder how much he weighing now and do he think about getting back in the ring
