      I'd say because the monkeys were humanized in his story.
      David said multiple times that they looked human and even said "they shot the guy" when they shot a Baboon with an arrow.
      Also David describes a very gruesome and somewhat cruel hunt. The dogs tear out pieces from the monkey (like his genitals) and he gets shot multiple times before dying. Joe tries to be ethical when hunting. I think he realized, that these very human-like animals have to suffer on a daily basis for many years, so that these people can eat.

    I’ve experienced what David is speaking of, I’m convinced anxiety & depression is a first world problem. When I went through something similar, not even half as intense, my anxiety wasn’t there, I wasn’t depressed, I didn’t care about tv or my phone. I had no time for it. I loved it, it was so peaceful and tranquil. The happiest I’d been in so long. But then it’s time to leave and it’s depressing to come back until you get back used to your vices again. The simpler way of life is where it’s at. So wonderful and beautiful. Get outside people and live life. If you really open yourself up to it you will not regret it.

    • @GeekedOutNeckbeard
      @GeekedOutNeckbeard 2 роки тому +21

      100%. Depression happens to everyone in the first world for, sometimes, no reason. Same with anxiety. Anxiety keeps everyone in a constant state of fight, flight, or freeze. Instead of it being used for what it should be used for, it's being activated at random...
      I would, only making an assumption, presume these mental health problems stem from the level of dopamine constantly being released, and serotonin that also gets released when you get that hit. Which leads to problems like depression and anxiety.
      Which makes sense, since taking Molly can have depression, and anxiety as its side-effects after taking since you release serotonin all at once, a major dump.
      While the first world is just making you release it slowly, overtime, and sometimes you get HEAPS AND HEAPS of it when you are probably entertained and consuming.
      When you don't have the distractions anymore those issues are no longer there. Your brain is able to properly control the chemicals in your brain. Allowing you a far more healthy brain than the ones in the first world.
      SO much stress on making money, the root of ALL our problems as that is the way we access our food. Majority of us cannot hunt and would starve without money.
      The first world has consumed our brains and we're screwed. We can't live like the tribe he visited because our bodies have NOT adapted or evolved to have that lifestyle. Instead of just scratches from thorns we would get severely cut...
      Without their gut biome we would die from drinking that brown water.
      We are boxed in a lifestyle we were born into. It's no wonder people LOVE unregulated campsites that you off-road to, and there's no cellphones, nothing. You just enjoy nature. It's when I am happy and liberated. ALL my stress is gone of my day-to-day. No bills, nothing. I don't wanna return cause it's so relaxing and calming. It's A HUGE break from this world we live in that cares not for us, but the money we have.

    • @dominic.rivera
      @dominic.rivera 2 роки тому +10

      @@GeekedOutNeckbeard I can’t remember where but I read that a big reason is that our brains didn’t evolve to differentiate stress since stress is first and foremost a survival tool. So there are a million micro stressors that we encounter in day to day life that our bodies respond to in a similar way to what it would a predator in our presence. So we walk around in a state of fight or flight and that’s incredibly draining. Having something so focused like finding food and being alive as the only focus would understandably wash away all of the extra depression and anxiety since there’s a lot less for your brain to mislabel as a threat

    Mr Rogan, Mr Choe, wow I love listening to you guys, so much to gain from your knowledge and experiences, my favourite part of this clip, is from dave describing the injured hunting dogs, who still want to take part, “ I want to have value” . I needed that, I’ve been off work for 9/10 months now, I have no money to pay for my basic needs, my 65 year old mother is working full time hours, plus overtime just to keep up with our bills. I’ve been punishing myself for being unable to contribute, as my government are refusing to help ( I live in the UK) financially and medically. But I keep searching for positivity, meaning and understanding. And little things like, your logical thinking, some of your guests honesty, desire for the equality throughout all, and now this quote from Dave! Thanks, I want to have value, it means a lot to me. The world needs more like you guys!
    Love to all.

    The overall healthiest & stress-free lifestyle i've seen is in small town Mexico, where people build their own houses on fertile land next to a fresh water source. My grandparents were from a town with a population of less than 200 ppl and they never had financial worries or even health / obesity worries like we do in the USA. They almost lived a century and they were still physically active in their early 90s. I envy their lifestyle, it's basically a mixture of African tribe life with a sprinkle of modern day technology. My grandparents grew their own beans, potatoes, tomatoes, green peppers, etc, they raised livestock and hunted deer on weekends. I lived with them for 6 months as a teenager and i lost 50 lbs during that time. The healthiest i've felt was living with them, eating organic and drinking water straight from the river. The pounds started piling back on when i moved back to the states, smh. My goal is to save enough money so i can move back over there, build my own house, marry a local and live off the land until i'm old. American society isn't for me.

      @@daringducky5337 See there's so many things inherently wrong with what you said but I'll make this as short as possible. Are you African-American or African? I'm the former. Do you have personal friends who are African? I have many. So for argument's sake lets assume I have a tab bit more insight and connection. Africans didn't know what they were doing, hence them selling each other into slavery and being conquered at every turn. Like or not we must evolve, or get left behind. Evolution sometimes has to take precedence over traditions and culture. I'm from New Orleans and that city suffers greatly from the aforementioned. A certain amount of people will always suffer for various reasons. The Bible says the poor will always be with us. People have suffered in Africa since it's origin. And people continue to suffer there and if you talk to the average African they'll tell you Africa gets it wrong more then right. What makes this country great is we get it right more than we get it wrong. The concept of utopian society is a glib fantasy. Surviving isn't enough because is doesn't provide for rainy days or being able to serve others in and adequate capacity. Africa is more of a burden than a benefit. When the rest of the world needs help they're not capable because they haven't progressed enough to be in a position to be that shoulder to lean on. Charity and kudos isn't what Africa needs. They get more charity in sum than they actually produce. What they need is the hard truth. I guarantee if you had a personal genie Congo or Somalia wouldn't be in your top 1000 places to visit.
