Greg Garcia did a Reddit AMA in which he stated that Earl was never going to finish his list, and that the final episode would revolve around Earl coming across an item he couldn't rectify and while struggling to figure out what to do, someone with a list of their own with Earl on it comes to Earl seeking atonement. Earl asks this person where they got the idea to make a list of all the bad things they've ever done. The person replied that another person had their own list who got the idea from another individual. Thus Earl ends up realizing he sparked a movement of sorts and that he put more good into the world then bad and tears up his list seeing that he is a redeemed man.

Mad respect to Jason. He seems like a really cool, down-to-earth, humble, and genuine dude. My Name is Earl was one of my favorite shows growing up and really helped mould my tastes as a kid. The entire cast killed it on that show, and the writing was top-knotch.
Except that time when his wife confessed to reading an unapproved scientology book so he cut her off and divorced her without ever speaking a another word to her
I don’t feel like this show got enough credit for how brilliantly written it was.The concept was so original and so good! I talk to people about this show and they say they never saw it and I want them to see it! Shows like this are few and far between. I think Joy and Randy had the best lines I’ve ever heard come out of anyone’s mouths!
My wife had never seen/heard of Earl. I had her watch the pilot and she was instantly obsessed, and we just finished binge watching the entire thing (after king of the hill, she also had not seen), and it was fantastic. We're now watching raising hope, which I never watched either and it's also such a gem. Greg Garcia is great as are the actors he worked with. Thanks Jason!
One of my favorite scenes from any tv show ever is in Raising Hope when the family is in LA and Burt is doing some landscaping at a studio lot. All the networks had people there to see his work and after he decided to just go back home he asked "which one of you is from NBC?". One man raises his hand and Burt walks up, kicks him in the nuts and says " THAT'S for cancelling My Name Is Earl!!"
Earl was a genuinely funny, clever, soulful show. I really can't find anything major to criticise about it and that is a damn rare commodity in television. Thanks Jason, Greg and everyone involved!
This was one of my older brother’s favorite shows, we would watch it together sometimes and I ended up really enjoying it. He passed away this year and now I think of the great memories we had with this show. RIP, Marv.
''My Name Is Earl'' is and will always be my favorite show. it's funny, heartwarming and inspiring. ''Raising Hope'' was also a Greg Garcia production that didn't get the love it deserved.
I work with addicts and alcoholics at a homeless shelter and I have them watch the show and we discuss how Earl can relate to us and how Earl is essentially working the 12 step program, mostly the amends but really he covers them all. This show was so much deeper than I realized as a young teen when it came out and I hate it got cancelled but I'm glad we got it at all
I remember when the show started, and on the forums, (Imdb had forums back then) there was a lot of talk about "I love the show, but why that title?" and some people said it was referencing the concept of AA and such with people introducing themselves at the meetings with "My name is **** and I'm an alcoholic".
@@NameName-wf7cb I think that is the only series he's done that I haven't watched. It's only streaming on Hulu and Apple TV where I live, but those are two streaming services I don't have yet. I also thought he worked on Better Off Ted, but that was Victor Fresco who also wrote for My Name is Earl. Lots of the same cast in Better Off Ted and Garcia's other shows too.
Once people dress as your character for Halloween, you know you've helped create something special. I can hear the pride in his voice. He's such a cool guy.
I remember that Randy had a helmet on while he hit himself in the head with a bowling pin. I think he said how it reminded him of first grade or something like that. Wouldn't get away with that now
He has such a unique voice, I love hearing him do voice over work, and I think that his wit, charm always comes through no matter what role he is performing. The man will always be Brodie to me, but his take on Earl is amazing work. They need to write a book with the ending of My Name is Earl!!! hell make it a comic book!!!
Hell yeah!! I was scrolling through the comments and was almost infuriated that No one even mentions his skateboard career. And the pioneering of the 360 flip. I’m actually glad I’m old when I watch this
It actually boggles my mind that it got canceled and even more so that no one picked it up! Jason and Ethan are great actors, not to mention the supporting cast! There are some shows where you see the title and the premise, and immediately think "well this show can't last beyond a few seasons without making no sense anymore or outgrowing thier title (2 and a HALF men, then the kid grows up and leaves type of deal). An ex con having a list with a lifetime of crimes and misdeeds on it to make up for? That premise could go on for YEARS! It would stay consistent of a premise with him making a life long amends, while still constantly bieng fresh because his "list" could take him so many different places, directions, story lines and bringing in new characters. I remember bieng proud cause it was my grandparents favorite show with Jason bieng a pro skateboarder lol
I’ve binged the show many times I blame season 3 for the cancelation He’s In jail for the first half and in a coma the 2nd half When you are watching it in a binge at lest to me I can see why people started to lose interest week to week Although in my opinion some of the jail episodes are pretty good season 3 definitely loses some of the magic of them running around Camden interacting with all kinds of folks

For me, My name is Earl is on the level of the Office. I can always watch it, I will always enjoy it, and I always come back and watch it again when theres nothing else for me to see.
My Name is Earl is such a great show. It was wholesome but also a bit raunchy. It was funny and didn't take itself seriously. It was fun to watch and just so good. Such a cool, original concept.
My name is Earl was one of the last shows my family all gathered around the TV to watch together. It was such great and refreshingly wholesome family entertainment. It'll always hold that fond memory for me, thank you to Jason and everyone who worked on that gem of a show. 💕
I find it refreshing and cool that jason is genuinely happy with fans that loved his show and want to say hi to him about it. some actors are straight up assholes when fans say anything like that.
Glad to know that Jason is thankful for the show and seems like a genuinely good person. I relate to him as a former skater and someone who used to frequent the Taco Bell he worked at in Huntington Beach before he became an actor.👍🏻
My wife hated me after I got her into watching it and I never told her it ended in a cliffhanger. It also left a void in our daily watching habit after it ended since we only watched 2 episodes a day on Netflix at the time. Soon after we tried researching to see if there was any news it would be properly closed. Wishful thinking on our part. The show truly had heart. Loved it
My favorite thing about Jason Lee is that he's just comes across as so genuine! Hopefully it's not just an act because he seems like a super nice guy that you could share a beer with!
My Name Is Earl will always be one of my favorite comedy series ever. Every character on that show was perfectly played. The best episodes in my opinion were the two COPS episodes they did.

So thank you jason for bringing such a unique talent to it! Noone could have ever played Earl like Jason Lee! This show will go down in my top 3 shows of all time.
I have not ever met someone that didn't love "My Name is Earl"!! The cast worked so hard yet made it look so easy & fun. My children are enjoying this series. We wld love to see a reunion or film that gives the show, a much deserved, conclusion.
I remember loving this show as a kid and being devastated that it was cancelled. My dad actually went to school with a girl that worked at NBC and her job was specifically doing the promos for Thursday night shows. They had a little reunion thing and we both decided we were gonna give her a piece of our minds (in a fun loving way) about how they cancelled Earl. She was honestly super sad about it too, but I specifically remember her being like "this new show parks and rec will be great" and looking back after that convo they had Community, The Office, Parks and rec, and 30 Rock all in one night. It still sucks but if Earl was going to be canceled I'm happy it was for quality stuff.
Jason Lee is so iconic. There is a canon ending though. Earl starts to stress too hard over the list and it starts to make his progress regress until someone walks passed him with their own list. It was then when Earl realized he had done enough good in the world.
I know Jason will never see this, but his work in My Name Is Earl is right up there on the top with Will Smith from Fresh Prince for me. I'm currently re-watching the show for, probably the 10th to 15th time and it is just one of the best comedy shows ever made. I've never been as heartbroken for a show being cancelled as I was, and still am, for My Name Is Earl. I hate when Hollywood relaunches shows and movie franchises, but this I would love to see happen, because the show still has a fan base after all these years.
I had my first real difficult break up/heartbreak around the time Earl first aired. I stumbled across it randomly one day and it was the first thing that made me smile/laugh after that break up. I knew at that point I'd be ok. Thank you Jason/Earl.
The world needs this show! Earl represented humanity at its worst and humanity at its best. It taught people to look back, mend and heal mistakes we've made in the past.
Man My Name is Earl is like one of the greatest achievements in television. So fucking underrated. Rewatched it recently with my gf and as someone who grew up on shit like video days, it still blows my mind that the same dude I used to watch doing 360 flips and shit is a part of something so good.
I love Jason’s energy. Being able to acknowledge that being in that position is an incredible privilege, even though it might feel rough some days. And his appreciation of the crew as well. Great to hear :)
Jason, you are an inspiration. I've been a big fan since the World Industries days bro. Great to see you all grown up. Wishing you all the success today and forever.

Earl helped get me through some of my darkest moments!!!
Never underestimate the power of good art!!!
Thank you for your contribution to the art world. That show is incredibly valuable to some of us.
The writing in “Earl” was just fabulous - very ironically intelligent!
The first season yeah
That show sucked and there's a reason it tanked in syndication.

Mad respect to Jason. He seems like a really cool, down-to-earth, humble, and genuine dude.
My Name is Earl was one of my favorite shows growing up and really helped mould my tastes as a kid. The entire cast killed it on that show, and the writing was top-knotch.
Except that time when his wife confessed to reading an unapproved scientology book so he cut her off and divorced her without ever speaking a another word to her
@@mopenstein now he left Scientology though
I don’t feel like this show got enough credit for how brilliantly written it was.The concept was so original and so good! I talk to people about this show and they say they never saw it and I want them to see it! Shows like this are few and far between. I think Joy and Randy had the best lines I’ve ever heard come out of anyone’s mouths!
So true!
"that was three network presidents ago!!!"
I just finished raising hope i am looking for another show now
also that is my favorite scene ever
@@alliexcx5576 You should try "Sprung"! It has Garrett Dillahunt (burt) and Martha Plimpton (Virginia) and is also made by Greg Garcia.
Oh my God YES? 😂
Earl was a genuinely funny, clever, soulful show. I really can't find anything major to criticise about it and that is a damn rare commodity in television. Thanks Jason, Greg and everyone involved!
my only criticism is how it ended, but thats not the fault of the show
This was one of my older brother’s favorite shows, we would watch it together sometimes and I ended up really enjoying it. He passed away this year and now I think of the great memories we had with this show. RIP, Marv.
❤
My condolences, may he rest in peace
sorry for your loss. how wonderful to have a way to relive great memories of him.

Often find a club of bros losing bros on UA-cam. Club I hate being a part of. Big ole hug
This show was so much deeper than I realized as a young teen when it came out and I hate it got cancelled but I'm glad we got it at all
Dude, that's inspirational! Thanks for sharing that.
That’s so beautiful. The world is a better place for having you in it. Thank you for everything you do.
Somebody mentioned my name is earl at aa a cpl days ago regarding ammends. I can't believe I never made that connection way way before
Holy virtue signal, no one cares
I remember when the show started, and on the forums, (Imdb had forums back then) there was a lot of talk about "I love the show, but why that title?" and some people said it was referencing the concept of AA and such with people introducing themselves at the meetings with "My name is **** and I'm an alcoholic".
I do love how Garcia basically got everyone back for a My Name is Earl reunion on Raising Hope. Jason Lee was great on that as well.
Earl is actually mentioned on a news cast during the show.
@@danmac6185 Oh cool, I just started rewatching Raising Hope after seeing this, I'll keep an eye out for that one.

Once people dress as your character for Halloween, you know you've helped create something special. I can hear the pride in his voice. He's such a cool guy.
This show was so good. Like arrested development. Funny, well written, just such good shows.
Earl to Randy: "Mom always said you were half artistic!" Still laughing to this day.

That' such a great idea! I would kill for a My Name is Earl comic that finished the story.
i'd be down for a made-for-tv movie to wrap it all up. and just never acknowledge how much older everyone is, pick up right where they left off.

BUILD THE WALL!
I’ve binged the show many times
I blame season 3 for the cancelation
He’s In jail for the first half and in a coma the 2nd half
When you are watching it in a binge at lest to me I can see why people started to lose interest week to week
Although in my opinion some of the jail episodes are pretty good season 3 definitely loses some of the magic of them running around Camden interacting with all kinds of folks
Whoever made it should know- I will teach children lessons from this show like it was a holy book.

My Name is Earl deserved better. Great show with a unique premise that still holds up to this day. Tragedy it wasn't given a proper ending.
Loved it
Earl was in a episode of rasing hope I think and I think he was doing a list thingy also. Give that a look 👀.
Watch Raising Hope. Same creators, lots of the same actors, TONS of Earl references.

Fantastic actor and a person. Full respect to Jason Lee, My name is Earl is legendary.
