  • In this video I show you how I fixed my air conditioning in my 2003 H2 Hummer.
I first removed the inner fender-well to help gain access to the ac compressor, and then procced to remove to ac compressor belt.
After that I had to remove the two refrigerant lines, electrical connection, and then the 4 bolts that secure it to the engine block. Once the ac compressor is wiggled out, I was able to repeat those steps backwards to get the new ac compressor installed. Adding refrigerant R134a was easy by following the instructions that came with the product.
Thanks again for watching! I hope this helps you out in your repair project.

There’s more than just vehicles. Atvs, some traveling, guns, lawnmower repairs, etc.
I started using a drone this year. I and will try and continue to put drone footage in when I can.

    Hi Michael,
I am saying this with all kindness, so please dont take this as me being a troll.
There is a LOT more to replacing a compressor! I have the same car and I am doing it now. You should go watch every UA-cam video you can about this. I guarantee your new unit will fail again. First, you did not use a vacuum pump to suck out the moisture. BIG mistake. Second, why did you replace the compressor? There are so many other parts that can fail. You may just have a leak in a valve or fitting or a hole somewhere.Third, if the compressor failed, it may have shot metal particles throughout the system and I promise they will chew your new one to bits. You didnt replace the drier, you absolutely have to. There's also a little screen trap called an orifice tube that will tell you what the inside of your system looks like. It needs to be replaced, it's a ten dollar part. Google auto ac condenser to find out why that should be new as well. The newer units like we have can't be flushed. If it's cogged, your compressor will fail again. You need to use a proper set of gauges to refill the system. It will work ok when the pressure is too low and ok when too high but only for awhile. Also, you dint allow for the oil already in your system and added more by not draining and neasuring whats in there already. Too much oil and you blow the compressor seals. See what I mean? I hope Im completely wrong and you get REALLY lucky.
Autozone will lend you a vacuum pump, gauges and a flush tool for just a CC deposit and then you will have the right tools to make it last. It's not that hard to do. Well, I take that back. it's a major PITA but isnt doing the same repair over and over boring?
Regards and good luck. I'll let you know how mine goes if you are interested.

This is 100% correct if you don't take the time to replace all the parts and clean the entire system you will be doing this again for sure. I'm doing this on my H2 now. I did my f-250 about a month ago and found a ton of metal shavings in the filter so 3 cans of flush later and 80 gallons of compressed air replaced the compressor, the dryer, all the lines and the condenser, filled professionally with a ac evacuation machine and ice cold ac and worry free for years to come. I wish you the best as well, I hope you got lucky.

Agreed. The system was opened so a vacuum is needed. The H2 required 25.5oz of refrigerant and that can is only 20 IF you can completely empty it. Also no mention of oil in the new compressor. Nice visual of removing the compressor but this is not a "How To"
