Thanks for the explanation on the system! FYI for the compressor remove the fender liner on the passenger wheel well. You can then reach straight in and unbolt everything. Much easier than going in from the top.

a/c compressor comes right out from the bottom, no need to remove radiator hoses

Thanks for the info. Honestly remember trying everything but it just couldn't drop out, may be there's a difference in the model year? Anyway the good news is you managed it and I hope this video provided some sort of help and that you're up and running 👍

@@hummerfixes mind is a 2005, you just have to get under there and move it around and turn the wheels all the way left

can't the compressor be permanently removed? obviously no more ac but something less to worry about

Thank you for your comment. This may be possible, though it would generate DTC P0530 as the A/C pressure is out of range i.e. too low, however no MIL light would be set (according to the manual) It's all down to personal comfort 👍

I just removed the ac relay and the fuse this morning, drove to meadowhall and no problems yet, it was just engaging and making a right noise 😅

@@dawsonn87 Indeed sounds like the compressor is shot. The newer R134a refrigerant has smaller molecules so tends to leak more than the old freon, however by not keeping the A/C topped-up, or fixing leaks, puts the compressor under strain, a bit like the engine running out of oil (according to the experts that is)
