      @@ZOCCOK Some of the narrow Ai (algorithms that optimize for engagement/time spent on platforms) we developed have already weakened democracy in some countries and helped stoke genocides in others. All that was needed for this to happen was an arms race between Chinese (Tiktok) and American (Meta, Alphabet, etc.) companies and a few individuals (mainly Mark Zuckerberg) that were willing to put their profit interests before the interest of the public.

      Only values that majority shares are don't kill and don't hurt those who don't deserve it, but even that depends because when it comes to who deserves it, and how much, there's a lot of debate already. Values other from that depend even more. Morality never was a certain thing and probably never will as long as people remain individuals with own opinions and not a hive

      There is not enough human intervention to stop any of this from slowing down. Accept the fact that we and all the other life forms on Earth will either adapt or die!! Like life has been doing since the dawn of time. Just enjoy your life because it is short, and you won't remember any of this when you are dead and gone. Like every other life form that has come before us and has gone extinct. Extinction is inevitable. No life form gets out of life alive. Eventually our planet will be consumed by our Sun. We once again will be STAR DUST.

      The world population went from 1 billion in 1800 to almost 8 billion now. Of course, that will change a lot of things. But we as humans are incapable of controlling our populations and people who invent things from looking ahead to see what the long term affects will be. If they even care, it's all about money and greed. We all only think about today right now! The human race is only capable of seeing a few years ahead if that. Plus, we keep sending food and building in places where that human population should not be, or the population should not be that high. Then we go to war over things that will not move the human race forward it just drags us back into the past. The human race might not deserve to survive as species.
      A guy told me once we are the most intelligent being on this planet. I said he was wrong. WE ARE THE MOST CLEVER. We are not that intelligent. We can't even manage our populations, food, water, and energy resources properly. We just figure ways around (Natural Forces of Nature) a problem that concerns us right now, not thinking of the pros and cons for the near or distant future. Thats because we haven't evolved enough out of our inherently primitive and archaic survival instincts. If you read about human behavior, we are still using our basic animal instincts to survive on a daily basis that we have been using for the last 1 billion years or so. We haven't changed that much since then. We just have learned to make and use tools without a proper teacher to show how to use them properly or if those tools should even be made.

    • @atlas956
      @atlas956 2 роки тому +1

      i suppose it depends. technically not, because they don‘t have the same structural/evolutionary shortcuts that tend to get human reasoning messed up.
      But in reality, every AI is trained by humans, and though it would in theory be possible to train AI to notice & point out human errors (not now, but still), we have no way to know whether the AI wouldn‘t just use the same fallacies as we do (especially if we don’t know about them).
      It’s also possible that it would not be able to separate situations where fallacies are useful to us versus from where they are a bother.
      If AI advances beyond human intelligence (which will most likely happen), then we will not, or barely, check on the accuracy behind it‘s reasoning anyway.

      I always thought this way. I know there are truly altruistic people out there, who want to work hard for a bigger cause in benefit of humanity. But still, there are also millions of people who are selfish, merciless and miserable. So I can't understand why there are so many people who are always like "we must prevent humanity from becoming extinct! If we do so, we can develop other technologies and even expand our domains to the whole solar system or galaxy!". Like, and when we do that, isn't it going to be because our endless thirst of power, greed and selfishness?? In the distantes future aren't we going to still be miserable, causing pain to others for our own benefit??
      If we erre to get extinct soon, I really don't mind.

    To be honest while a lot of this is indeed human action, I feel like a lot of it can be traced back to governments more than any single person. Take the U.S. for example and its capitalist market, in which it is wonderful to be able to be free in what you want to sell and the like. It cannot be said however that a lot of questionable morally and ethically charged decisions have been made due to it. Given in comparison to other countries that have dialed back their use of fossil fuels in favor of renewable energy sources. Coal and oil companies have lobbied hard within the government, along with creating smear campaigns to dissuade the public from being more open to renewable energy sources. Which means emissions have continued to go up instead of down in comparison to other countries. Then globally speaking governments, especially the Russian, U.S, Chinese and North Korean are working hard to make that next big thing that goes bang. Which furthers the issue of potential global catastrophe due to nuclear weapons, or something potentially far worse and more power if one happens to make something that is better.
    I feel the majority of the issues that we face can be traced back to the small individuals that happen to be in a position of power, or have a throne made of money that gives them power. That are more concerned about staying in power, or continuing to grow their capital gains. At whatever cost necessary, even to the determent of our planet and potential future as technology advances.
