Hi, I love watching your videos. I've been following your channel for a few months since my language acquisition teacher showed it to us to practice listening since I'm from Latin America.
I always thought this way. I know there are truly altruistic people out there, who want to work hard for a bigger cause in benefit of humanity. But still, there are also millions of people who are selfish, merciless and miserable. So I can't understand why there are so many people who are always like "we must prevent humanity from becoming extinct! If we do so, we can develop other technologies and even expand our domains to the whole solar system or galaxy!". Like, and when we do that, isn't it going to be because our endless thirst of power, greed and selfishness?? In the distantes future aren't we going to still be miserable, causing pain to others for our own benefit?? If we erre to get extinct soon, I really don't mind.

I just knew climate change and pandemics had to be on the list. The tragic thing is that when one worsens, the other does too. People need to wake up and try make the inevitable disaster less worse for humans in the future.
Nuclear War brings both climate change and sickness from radiation. That would be number one on my list of fears as more unstable and radical nations are developing nuclear weapons.
To be honest while a lot of this is indeed human action, I feel like a lot of it can be traced back to governments more than any single person. Take the U.S. for example and its capitalist market, in which it is wonderful to be able to be free in what you want to sell and the like. It cannot be said however that a lot of questionable morally and ethically charged decisions have been made due to it. Given in comparison to other countries that have dialed back their use of fossil fuels in favor of renewable energy sources. Coal and oil companies have lobbied hard within the government, along with creating smear campaigns to dissuade the public from being more open to renewable energy sources. Which means emissions have continued to go up instead of down in comparison to other countries. Then globally speaking governments, especially the Russian, U.S, Chinese and North Korean are working hard to make that next big thing that goes bang. Which furthers the issue of potential global catastrophe due to nuclear weapons, or something potentially far worse and more power if one happens to make something that is better. I feel the majority of the issues that we face can be traced back to the small individuals that happen to be in a position of power, or have a throne made of money that gives them power. That are more concerned about staying in power, or continuing to grow their capital gains. At whatever cost necessary, even to the determent of our planet and potential future as technology advances.
@@bitcoinzoomer9994 I mean that's simply not true for the case of the U.S., there are companies that are still lobbying hard. For the continued consumption of fossil fuels, along with in some cases knowingly polluting. In which they only do something about it when they have the whistle blown on them.
Human brains barely get the grasp of huge numbers, 8 billion people is an absolute massive amount (to get along/align with). The difference between a millionaire and a billionaire is enormous, as another example.
I hope we will. Like we literally has a society who treats lower end job workers as sub-human, to the point of saying they must work far more hours than a "normal" job (to the point they might need 3 to live paycheck to paycheck), where wage theft is OK to the point it is THE most done crime that is the LEAST went after. Then people gaslight others in saying well if you only gotten a degree then you wouldn't be in that, but then get PO when they find out you have a degree but still can't get a good job.
While yes, we can destroy civilization. Wiping out humanity would be nearly impossible. We were down to just 20,000 humans at one point during an ice age and rebounded.
well, the history of life on Earth tells us that despite global catastrophic events, life has always found a way through and has revived and healed itself. So, wiping out all lifeforms has been an impossibility so far. But global catastrophes can send the humans back to stone age. All of our progress and achievements can get lost if a catastrophe happens. We will have to begin everything from the start, that's a major threat.
@@jayaroh4378 you don't have ro resort to a nuclear armageddon for extinction. All you have to do is wipe out the ozone layer and every human is dead. Even if some humans escape to a UV radiation proof bunker they'll soon starve to death as anything a human can eat is also wiped out by the UV radiation.
Of course they will eventually.... we'll be the only living things in history who will most likely put an end to ourselves, but at some point we will be gone....it is inevitable.

Some dude: "the quality of animation is good"
No one knows what is the purpose of our life. Our greed will destroy us soon. We need one thing immediately, humanity(kindness and gentleness).
What makes you so sure that our greed WILL destroy us soon?
@@robertweltonsworldofanimat4525 Probably their Doomer Mentality because this is what's seen as "smart" nowadays for some reason
There's also the fact that to make change, a lot of people would need to be willing to do that and at this point no one would want that because everything is convenient
Love this animation style!!
@māngāi Wonder if the cartoon is vaccinated also. The mask is on lol
The animation and the music made me very uneasy. Good job!
Therapist: Delta-winged B-29 isn't real, it can't hurt you.
Delta-winged B-29: 1:56
Love the graphics in this.
Thanks for the global sense of existential crisis. Knowing that one of my choices could grow into destroying humanity is paralyzing
I really think we really needed this video so that's good
And ted ed is here to save. 😁
One of the best videos I ever watched.
forgot millionares
Hi, I love watching your videos. I've been following your channel for a few months since my language acquisition teacher showed it to us to practice listening since I'm from Latin America.
I love Ted Ed
Loved the speaker's voice the most! but of course, the content and animation as well.
Whether or not humanity needs saving is a better question.
As a species we are so inherently miserable it doesn't matter what will wipe us out.
Sounds like the confession of a spiteful mutant. Try getting more sunlight, weirdo.
I'm obsessed with your kind of a simply gripping animation.
Aliens: We've made a study of humanity in this drive.
And we've decided to wipe the drive..
Love the 'her' reference at 4:33!
I am unlikely to see the extinction of humanity, but I fear for my children.
I would be happy to see the day that human population will finally go down haha
They won't feel anything!
Very not in character for a Nicol Bolas.
I mean did he even had any hatchling?
They're alive, they're suffering every day
Don't have kids
And what is the common denominator for all of these crisis? Human. We are our own enemies and threat.
1) nuclear war
2) climate change
3) engineered pandemic
4) AI
Technological development is the problem. Not the things caused by it.
Gave a like to this vedio just for the animation.❤❤
The plot twist at the end was cool.
Or perhaps an unknown threat 🤔
"We will never have peace as long as 2 neighbours are fighting each other over the fence line between their houses".....
A frase i like to say is "the human has created its own mouse trap"
If we do we will have no one to blame but ourselves. Humans have always been their own worst enemy.
Exactly right. And we are so arrogant that we think we are invincible
Does more aware about world become dangerous for its own?
Please reply.
If we cannot work together, we will fall together.
I recommend Robert Miles when it comes to AI alligment problems and it's dangers. Im sure biological warefare can be at least a bit counteracted, I think our great filter could be AI, hope it wont, but then again, wouldn't AI progress too? wouldn't we see AI intergalactic species then? idk
We are the biggest THREAT to ourselves
💯
You forgot human stupidity, of which there's an endless supply
And you seems to forget there's an equally endless supply of human creativity and intelligence
@@scarousingpeach88 Fair enough 😀
art was amazing. love the aesthetic
Ai is my greatest fear, its a 50/50, even a simple program where someone for got to put a limit could end humanity
This video will be viral 16 years from now
We “Humans” are very contradictory. An AI will have a hard time understanding our actions.
Summary: our world is definitely screwed whichever way we, humans, turn.
"The complete destruction of humanity has never happened before."
How do they know? 🤔
"Complete" means you wouldn't be here to ponder that.
I love the twist at the end.
I will never bring a baby to this world, everything is doomed
Omfg go offline and smell the roses, life is not nearly as bad as what the internet and big media says it is.
Good.
I wasn't ready for the end
You realize the organizations that have knowingly polluted and destroyed nature are all authoritarian communist countries right?
@@bitcoinzoomer9994 I mean that's simply not true for the case of the U.S., there are companies that are still lobbying hard. For the continued consumption of fossil fuels, along with in some cases knowingly polluting. In which they only do something about it when they have the whistle blown on them.
That ending was amazing
If all 8 Billion of us unite today and put all our energy into solving these threats, humanity will not just survive, but also prosper.
Human brains barely get the grasp of huge numbers, 8 billion people is an absolute massive amount (to get along/align with).
The difference between a millionaire and a billionaire is enormous, as another example.
@@Bruced82 Humans deserve to get extinct, we have done so much harm to this planet
2:15 “We haven’t had a nuclear war yet”
Yet?
I hope we will. Like we literally has a society who treats lower end job workers as sub-human, to the point of saying they must work far more hours than a "normal" job (to the point they might need 3 to live paycheck to paycheck), where wage theft is OK to the point it is THE most done crime that is the LEAST went after.
Then people gaslight others in saying well if you only gotten a degree then you wouldn't be in that, but then get PO when they find out you have a degree but still can't get a good job.
Well, going green (and without Tesla) would disrupt any power pyramid out there. Do it fast and there will be reorganization. Look up George Montbiot.
LOVE this art style
While yes, we can destroy civilization. Wiping out humanity would be nearly impossible. We were down to just 20,000 humans at one point during an ice age and rebounded.
Challenge accepted
Yes, but we didn't have nuclear weapons then.
A nuclear war is the end of all life on Earth.
@@sisfantasto7004 You can detonate every single one strategically and it still isn't enough to wipe out all of humanity.
well, the history of life on Earth tells us that despite global catastrophic events, life has always found a way through and has revived and healed itself.
Yes. Yes it will. Soon, too...
Of course they will eventually.... we'll be the only living things in history who will most likely put an end to ourselves, but at some point we will be gone....it is inevitable.
Nah, humanity will find a way. It always has. Maybe one day we'll be unrecognizable, but the continual stream of consciousness will never stop and it never should.
unpopular opinon: We can reduce the risk of war by rethinking why wars occur and eliminate the primary reason "war mongers" and not fight those who are being used by the war mongers.
