Daily almond eater here. I read from a nutritionist that you should strive to eat 30 different plant based foods per week. It doesn't need to be a full serving. For example, every week I eat almonds, walnuts, pecans, mixed nuts, a variety of fruits with my oatmeal, a variety of vegetables in my salad - which also has chia and flax seeds, etc. And of course various other vegetables and whole wheat/grain products. Eat my popcorn and bowl of cheerios every night for a treat :)

Very cool because I love almomds. I used to keep the TJs snack packs in my car and purse. I will start doing that again. 😊 It is not just about adding the almonds into the diet but having them available on hand to stop you from stopping for drive through or fast food.

My mom recently had kidney stones removed. The culprit could be eating high amounts of nuts and chocolate. The doctor gave her a list of 5 foods but I only remembered 2. Just be careful people. I love nuts as well but cut back after what she went through.

Strivectin stretch mark cream, which is great to use on the face. Cereve AM and PM as you recommended. I have noticed a bit of saggy skin close to one corner of my mouth. People don't know I'm 70 years old. Daddy was right, now I can be glad for the oily skin.
I was the same with oily skin but not so much anymore in my early 60's....jowls have somewhat have changed which I hate. I don't look as old as some of my friends....I don't look like a 20 year old either....yes my face has Changed....
I've been eating 23 almonds with yoghurt as my dinner dessert every single day for the past 5 years. Didn't change my skin drastically, but it did help a little along with raw spinach and carrots everyday. Skincare and sunscreen are still the main factor
As I understand it Almonds are also (one of many foodstuffs) high in oxalates... often referred to as an anti-nutrient for its tendency to limit absorption of things like zinc, calcium and iron. Oxalates are also known to lead to the formation of kidney-stones.

It is likely that the Almond Board of California was/is the only organization interested enough in the benefits of almonds to provide enough money to do any studies at all. So if you are a researcher interested in doing that kind of work, you have no other options. Also, if the study results strongly support a hypothesis of positive benefits, the AB of C is certainly not going to object! - On the other hand, I’m sure if a study results in no positive OR negative affects, they aren’t as interested (and no one else is much either). Taking funding from an organization with skin in the game, so to speak, does not automatically mean the clinicians / researchers become unthinking shills. You have every right to decide that you don’t find results from studies funded that way to be compelling, but that is your personal opinion. Many, many, many studies would never happen if funding wasn’t provided by an organization who stands to benefit from results showing positive impacts on people’s health.

Congratulations on the 2M subs 😮🎉 Thank you so much for this video 😊 I just want to warn everyone that almonds must be consumed in moderation. I used to eat 1-2 pounds several times per week, and I got cyanide poisoning, which can be lethal. Thank you Dr Dray. I love your lecture on getting rid of wrinkles. I eat a variety of nuts everyday including almonds but I do watch the quantities. My advice is to soak those nuts - you get more nutrients when you soak your nuts but check on how many hours to soak each of your nuts. I agree with you there is so much benefits in almonds and my kitchen is full of bottles of a variety of nuts. Yes check your allergies and switch to other nuts. Fats from nuts are the best for our skin despite the colour. I am from Africa and I take care of myself through eating well, exercising and listening to these videos. Very useful information. Once again thank you Dr Dray.
I love almonds and had known about their benefits, but now I’m torn because I’ve been reading contradictory study results from almonds. Have you heard that they’re high in oxalates? It would be amazing if you can talk about that. Thanks in advance! 🙏💕 -Aurora ❤❤❤
Yes, they are high in oxalates. Dr Berg talks about them. The other lame thing about almonds is they are high water use to grow and process into almond milk so they aren't very sustainable.
It’s only a concern if you’ve had a problem with kidney stones or your kidneys and aren’t eating an abundance; most bodies can absorb and excrete oxalates without problem especially if you are eating any type of calcium
I have a friend who’s mother always snacks on almonds for a snack, daily. And she has very wrinkled skin. It looks like she never wore sunscreen. But almonds and sunscreen are a different story.
Almonds are so yummy and crunchy and overall so much fun 😊❤. I put them in salads and my oats heaven ❤. I know there are beneficial but gathering today's info from your valuable video Doctor Andrea has elevated my view regarding almonds ❤. next time could you directly link the studies you’re citing? It’s hard to check out the study on the youtube app when you can’t click a direct link so I have to go on my computer to do so.
I have been eating soaked and peeled almonds for years on and off because it's thought to be good for brain, this was a nice addition to benefits of almonds, Btw are antioxidants bad/good for skin?
(I am not a certified dermatologist; I'm simply sharing insights based on personal experience and interest). Antioxidants, like Vitamin C, E, and others, protect cells from harmful free radicals. (Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage cells and contribute to various health issues.) They can benefit your skin whether applied topically or consumed in a balanced diet or supplements. Liver function and individual tolerance play a role, so consult a certified dermatologist for personalized advice. I've personally seen noticeable benefits from topical application of Vitamin E and C oils, and by consuming Zinc (Zinc has improved my nail quality after guitar-related damage in relatively reasonable time). Instant results came from Vitamin E, you can feel the difference after it's first application, and with consistency, the skin should be more soothing. Here are some other antioxidants: Vitamin A (beta-carotene), Selenium, Glutathione, Coenzyme (CoQ10), Flavonoids, Resveratrol and Lycopene I've tried various supplements, creams, diet tips and all. Through out my adventure, I found good quality sleep to be the best antioxidant out there.
I am dying laughing 😂 at all the comments about almonds being bad for the environment…do any of you drive a car, use an air conditioner, fly on airplanes, eat red meat, buy plastic products, wear anything with waterproof protection…

Thank you so much for your work. I also believe organo silica also helps keep wrinkles at bay.
Is it the same for Almond Milk? I don’t know if you mentioned it as I need to rewatch to get all the chalk filled info you provided in this video, but I love Almond Milk even more since they started making an Extra Creamy version and…it is so good! I hope that Almond Milk has the same effects as since sometimes things get lost in the processes! Thank you for all your videos…you are the very best!!!xoxoxo
Read up on almond milk. It is mostly emulsifiers and sweetener. I think there only 2-3 almonds in a quart.
Almond milk contains almost no almonds.
Request: regarding the minimal erythematous dose, could you make a video about the whole seed oils thing? I always see people saying that they stopped consuming seed oils and no longer burn in the sun as much. That's what the anti-sunscreen crowd runs with but I'd like to know where that comes from and if it has anything substancial behind it. 👀
For that crowd, it comes from delusion
@@redpeony6666 Sincerely it doesn't. I can't use sunscreen, gives me sunburn and patchy skin. Quite uneven skin tone, doesn't matter the brand.
I like almonds but don't love them. I'm going to add them in on a regular basis and see if I can get a little help with my forehead wrinkles! I like to pair almonds with olives for a snack or part of a meal. This encourages me to eat more almonds since I really like olives. Both have healthy fats.
Almonds and olives sounds good
I love a good journal club with Dr dray!! Thanks for keeping us all smart!!❤
She’s the best 🙏 always listen when I’m doing my skincare or make up!
Excellent content. I don't know how you keep up with the latest research, stay apprised of consumer trends, dispel myths and counter disinformation on social media and always find a compelling way to present practical, useful ideas every day. Keep up the great work.
Dr Dray your hair looks amazing recently! Did you start using a new product? Please update us with your haircare routine ❤
If you check her weekend vlogs, she tends to list all the products she's using (hair, makeup, clothing, etc) and will demonstrate how she uses them.
I just made a trail mix with peanuts, walnuts, cashews, seeds and dried fruit. I'm adding almonds! Lots of them.
Congratulations on the 2M subs 😮🎉
Thank you so much for this video 😊
I just want to warn everyone that almonds must be consumed in moderation. I used to eat 1-2 pounds several times per week, and I got cyanide poisoning, which can be lethal. Luckily I recovered fast, but I just wanted to tell everyone that they shouldn't over consume them like I did. 😅 In spite of the large amount of calories in 2 pounds of almonds, it actually made me lose weight. 😮
Did you eat organic almonds, plain or salted almonds to lose that much weight?
Omg 😮😂😂😂
how can anybody eat a pound of nuts? that seems like an awful lot
Were they chocolate covered? Lol Glad you're okay from the cyanide poisoning. Wow!
@@irritatedkitty7301 thank you ☺️
I mix almond butter, shredded unsweetened coconut, coconut oil, coconut flour,a little pink salt and cinnamon.Ikeep in fridge and pull it out when I get the munchies.😋
That video was very informative. I love that you take a deep dive into why something works 👍🏻 I love almonds and almond butter, I’ve been eating them for years (sometimes with a glass of wine 🍷). I’m 67 and have very few wrinkles, but I also take very good care of my skin, eg. never go out the house without sunscreen 😊
OMG, chocolate almond butter is so much better than that other chocolate in a tub.
A few years ago, I engaged in many citrus fruits a day, and in just a week, my skin was glowing, but due to my stomach issues, I couldn't continue.
I always eat almonds, but as I hate the taste of salt, I only eat unsalted ones. 😊
You hate salt?! How do you survive lol
That's good...I need some salt...
How many almonds would that be to get those benefits?
🎉🎉🎉🎉2 million subscribers 🎉🎉🎉 we are very fortunate to be a part of your accomplishment 🎉🎉🎉
My new snack:
Celery and almond butter stirred with olive oil
For those who have calcium oxalate kidney stones, almonds are high in oxalates.
Soak them babe, for like 8 hours.... actually all nuts should be soaked... it will take care of bad effects... stay healthy
@@gal_targareayn6721. Can you soak almond butter? 😉
It’s only a concern if you’ve had a problem with kidney stones or your kidneys and aren’t eating an abundance; most bodies can absorb and excrete oxalates without problem especially if you are eating any type of calcium
@@sarastanley4735 Thank you for sharing. It’s wild.
I have a friend who’s mother always snacks on almonds for a snack, daily. And she has very wrinkled skin. It looks like she never wore sunscreen.
But almonds and sunscreen are a different story.
Sunscreen is carcinogenic! 😢
I’ve read that eating tomatoes/tomato sauce/tomato juice/tomato soup daily will also raise the level at which you will sustain UV damage.
Almonds are so yummy and crunchy and overall so much fun 😊❤. I put them in salads and my oats heaven ❤. I know there are beneficial but gathering today's info from your valuable video Doctor Andrea has elevated my view regarding almonds ❤. Have a great day Doctor Andrea and we are grateful for the information.
It's so true, I have oily skin ,40 year's old and younger people getting older before my eyes. Abd friends saying that I haven't changed in 115 year's
Thanks for all you do! I’ve learned so much from you! Wish I were closer I would be patient.
I ❤ almonds! Does it matter if they are roasted or not?
Every bit of information you have shared and I have applied has worked wonders for me. I'm so grateful that thanks to you I know skin care is more a conscious and consistent commitment to good habits than just expensive creams.
Always grateful Pura Vida from Costa Rica 🇨🇷❤
I’ll give it a try and will eat almonds twice a week. everyday - it’s going to get boring. I wonder if there were any studies on how walnuts and hazelnuts impact the skin?
Good morning Dr. Dray! Congrats on 2M 🎉
Can you do a video on benefits of gluten free diet for eczema, psoriasis?
see my gluten video
Hi dr. Dray, do you this benefit of almonds apply to most tree nuts? Like walnuts, hazelnuts, pecans?
@@DrDrayzdayglutton dight
I already eat trail mix as my daily snack so I was pleased to hear about more almond benefits!
Does almond milk count? And/or almond butter?
Blueberries are great as well
Great info! I will definitely be ordering some raw almonds
I don't mind almonds, but I'm going to learn to like them now!
So thankful I found your videos. 🙏❤️ I am also thankful for your generation---being able to teach by pod casts, videos, etc, etc. My generation(Baby Boomers) had a completely different childhood from yours and received new technology much later in life. Your generation seems to be trying to solve many problems of society today. Thank you!❤✌️
I’ve heard if you soak them and peel them you solve the problem of oxalates and lectins that’s in raw almonds
A friend told me that almond oil Is good for wrinkles❤
Two million subscribers congrats! Videos like this one is why!
Dr Dray you never cease to amaze me with your knowledge and research. Thank you so much.
Loved this!! I wonder if using almond oil on the skin would have any effect?? 🤔 I love almonds, but I can imagine they’re a bit boring if you have them everyday! X
Almond oil is already used in skincare. Nivea and cetaphil uses it
Raw oats drenched in boiled water I let that sit for a couple of hours ,I do my yoga then I add walnuts almonds Chia seeds mulberry bits and cinnamon, That’s the meal and a treat, sometimes I add a little nutritional yeast
This is the most crunchy comment I read in awhile
Almonds are okay but not mad about them. A video on how to incorporate them into your diet with quantities and recipes would be great!
Use them as toppers for salads. Throw them in your oatmeal or cereal. Blend them in smoothies. Use them in yogurt.
This is not a cooking channel
My friend
Love almonds but forget to purchase. Will def remember now. Thanks!
Love this video! More videos with scientific journals. Almost feels like a journal club ❤

This is so interesting to me. I eat almonds regularly and I am post menopausal. I have a question though, I recently started use a growth factor serum and I have had sebum in years but I suddenly have begun producing sebum again, and I’m wondering, is that a good thing or a bad thing? Please doc explain why this would happen and if it is a good thing or bad..
Love almonds! Thank you Dr.Dray for your dedication in helping us live a healthier life.
next time could you directly link the studies you’re citing? It’s hard to check out the study on the youtube app when you can’t click a direct link so I have to go on my computer to do so.
Dr. Drae your skin looks amazing 💞
almond milk/water is super well known in asian traditional culture to improve pigmentation and make skin look younger
I have been eating soaked and peeled almonds for years on and off because it's thought to be good for brain, this was a nice addition to benefits of almonds, Btw are antioxidants bad/good for skin?
She just did a video on antioxidants days ago
(I am not a certified dermatologist; I'm simply sharing insights based on personal experience and interest).
Antioxidants, like Vitamin C, E, and others, protect cells from harmful free radicals. (Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage cells and contribute to various health issues.)
They can benefit your skin whether applied topically or consumed in a balanced diet or supplements.
Here are some other antioxidants: Vitamin A (beta-carotene), Selenium, Glutathione, Coenzyme (CoQ10), Flavonoids, Resveratrol and Lycopene
I've tried various supplements, creams, diet tips and all. Through out my adventure, I found good quality sleep to be the best antioxidant out there.
@@mcrazick8662 thank you for this, it was informative ☺️
@@mcrazick8662dr dray suggests not to apply vit e oil straight. However formulated in moisturizers is fine
I love almonds and never knew they were so good for your skin.
I am dying laughing 😂 at all the comments about almonds being bad for the environment…do any of you drive a car, use an air conditioner, fly on airplanes, eat red meat, buy plastic products, wear anything with waterproof protection…
