Thank-you everyone for the positive comments!!! This is my first real video, so I'm truly humbled to read these comments. I'm just doing this as a bit of a hobby and not selling anything at this stage.... Maybe one day!
Takes me back to the day. My uncle was a iron worker all his life. High steel. Had his shop at home. He could build anything. Watching you was watching him all over again. I know he is in slag heaven. You are an artist. Sticks up and burn.
Well done mate.. No frills and unnecessary boring talk show, just straight to the point and simple as.. Vedio footage and quality of work extremely great.. Well done.. 💯 👏
Just wanted to say that this is one of the BEST smoker build videos I've seen yet. I actually feel like I could to this myself now. (We'll see!) Thank you for using a stationary camera mount and not try to hold a crap cell phone as you attempt to cut or weld and ramble nonsensically in an attempt to explain your process. Seriously, this is a GREAT video. Hope you make more!
This has got to be the prettiest barbecue ever built. I'm glad you're not selling it. "The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits!" This is simplicity at its elegant best.
A proper old school engineer that can work with wood also didn't see a cnc machine anywhere all by hand turning and fabricating. Excellent work top quality a pleasure to watch
I must say , I'm almost moved to tears by your workmanship. That grill is built like a tank and will last for many moons. I'm truly impressed , well done sir. 😎
Man, I’ve watched a LOT of smoker build videos but this is hands down the best I’ve seen. You have phenomenal fabrication skills and that’s the nicest DIY smoker I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome build. I just started mine but I’m stumped as to how to do the grates but you used a simple and elegant solution that I believe I will borrow. Thanks!
Dude great video.simple, not filled with all that commentary that's just used to get a video over 10 minutes. I was so into this that I cant believe I just watched a 16 minute video.
Very nice...I built an identical one, but located the smoke stack towards the front ( firebox) top side. I welded a 1/4" plate on the bottom, sealed the firebox side, and left open the far side so the plate would heat and the smoke was forced under/over the 1/4", over the meat, and exhausted back towards the firebox...
Good job Sir. On the cooker and the video. Goes to show you that a big script is not needed when you have a skill to show. It would look great in my backyard too! Thanks.
I am humbled by your elegance & skills! I'm very proud of what you've accomplished building this & I bet you're still using that same smoker today! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Now that's what I call a Handy Man! A little more than a 44Gal drum cut in half. That was sensational, fantastic - well done to you Sir. I just love the finished product, very nice.
Dude! I thoroughly enjoyed the video, watching how you made this amazing looking smoker. I got into meat smoking a few years ago and use a cheap electric cabinet smoker and have been thinking of graduating up to a real smoker and building one of my own. Yours looks really robust and sturdy, good idea using an old compressor tank with its high carbon steel for the smoke chamber. Very, very impressive. That puppy will out live you I think! Well done and greetings from Great Britain!
This is a lost art. You've inspired me to build one, now I just need all the tools you have, and a place to do the work. I'm sure it'll come out exactly the same.
I've watched a lot of these offset builds, some from pipe some from propane tanks. The way you put the rods together with spacers for your cooking grate was genius, and truly sets you apart from the guys making angle iron and expanded metal grates. Erock should watch this video. I still scratch my head at Erockxs vid, cutting the pipe in half all ghe way and having it spring open..... I don't have the tools or skills, so watching a guy as smart and skilled as he is doing that was mind boggling.
I am a steel fabricator and this has got to be the best video of someone making a smoker I’ve seen on UA-cam. Don’t know if this is your profession but it definitely should be.
Nice craftsmanship. Enjoy actually hearing the work being done instead of a lot of annoying music. Ballpark⁰ of time ad money. Again great work and video.
Very nice work. I built mine bbq grill as a hobby also. This will be my next project as I myself have been researching on UA-cam on how to build one. So far yours is the model I will use.
This man put a lot of time & effort into putting it together. Took no short cuts. Adding the wood gave a detail effect. Looks better than the grill/smoker you buy. 👍👍👍 My personal opinion....
That was a lot of work and planning to make your smoker man, great job! What do you like and dislike after using it? Also, are you happy with the food it produces!?
Two comments: 1) amazing craftsmanship on the welding project, and 2) very very well done youtube video - far too many youtubers spend 10x as long as they should telling you the details of how their grandfather taught them to weld or whatever - there was not a single segment of this video I would have left out or embellished. There are very few 15 min youtube videos I'd sit through without thinking, "get on with it". This is one of them. Great job man.
@@rafidalsabak4645 I own a custom smoker. 36"x24"x24" Vertical, 1/4" steel with 2'x'2x22" 1/2" thick steel fire box from Lonestargrillz. $700-900 won't buy that pit. That looks like about a 20x32, 20x36? without casters, expect to pay a bare minimum of $1150-$1350 for the one he just built. 10 years ago you might have picked one up for as low as $900 but not now. I have not kept up with what the trade war with China has done to steel prices.......could be 10-15% more. A well built pit made of heavy materials holds consistent temps and for a longer period of time. The steel absorbs the heat and re-radiates it back onto the food giving you a very even cook compared to those tin cans from the lumber stores. A few winters ago it was 29 deg here in SW Louisiana and I wanted brisket (I'am from Texas). That pit never missed a beat. They are worth every dime. I could do this way better of I wanted too... But I wouldn't bc I could go to Walmart and buy one for 1/4 of the cost and problay b 4xs lighter also. Awesome job though dude mad skills bro. And yes I would go to Walmart bc I would never b able to do this lol thumbs up man👍👍👍🤙😎

Beautiful craftsmanship and great video! I just picked up a 30-ish gallon compressor tank and I’m going to build a smoker. It will be my first welding project.
Dude thats awesome, its easy to get clean 55gal oil drums where I'm from so I hope I'll be able to get my hands on one or two and replicate this build. I want a smoker really bad, but I really dont want to pay what they're asking for what I know is a temporary device. I've been through far too many bbq pits for me to believe that a smoker would last very much longer, so I've been thinking about building my own out of stronger materials, and this build is literal perfection mate, 10/10.
Beautiful work..I love most of the finishing..but you need to grind out them welds on the front door. But I love some of these details you do and I also love the fact that you V cut and bend the box. The seems are so much nicer when you do this. Love it. Thanks

TJMake have you got a setnof drawings for the smoker mate? Love the video we want our own offset smoker
Sorry, no plans. I just made it up as I went along. I referred to other UA-cam builds and used the Feldon’s Calculator for sizing.
That was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful work.
Good job, man. Here in Brazil, this type of bbq became a fever.

This by far the best self-build smoker video on UA-cam.
Many thanks for making this informative and quality video.

I can’t believe all the work and craftsmanship that went into just the handle! Awesome build.
Some serious skills and tools, I really enjoyed that.

Very nice! I've had half a eye out for an old propane tank for years now with the same idea in mind. Something for your grandkids to inherit!
I'm 3 minutes in and wondering why anyone would downvote this.
Fantastic job! Your hinges were a clever trick, heavy duty. Good skills, that smoker will last a lifetime.
Awesome Man!!!
Dude you are amazing! I'm still in shock God has blessed you with a gift and I can see you didn't though it by the wast side. This video was awesome!
nice . . . but when you started in on that wood with the lathe i wondered "is he making custom firewood?"
Great craftsmanship and great video! Glad you showed it in action at the end.
Loved this project, thanks for sharing!!
Great job, I can't tell that you take pride into your work. And the quality of your work is outstanding.

Thanks mate, I'm happy with it so far, the cook chamber could be a bit bigger though.
Great video! How big is the cooking chamber?
