There's only one word for what you've shown us, Jimmy: artistry. Incredible, the amount of tricks and ingenuity, from the damper in the chimney to the repurposed clamp for your air inlet. Just the sheer combination of recycled parts, yet it looks purpose-built. Those were 27 dense minutes!

@@jimmydiresta Agree with all that. Great ideas yadda. Are ya gonna install some kinda DIROTISSERIE? (nudge/wink) Gotta remember chickins and roasts and briskets and turkeys and such, no?
I made a similar deal in Peru from a 2' diam x 1/2" wall thickness x 3' length of steel pipe stolen from the gold mine I was workin at. Held heat excellently. And required a fork lift to move. I'm sure that expanded steel grate was NOT galvanized--zinc imparts a peculiar flavor.

Maybe I just wasn't paying attention, but it looks like your shop is getting as cramped as the one in the city.

Nice work and engineering. Weld beads are icing on the cake, needs a little work but not a deal breaker. Really nice.

Freaking BADASS! What's not to like?! A true craftsman at work! All the ingenious touches like the damper door detents on the saw-blade-like metal art. And the wrenches for the hood handle. Too top it all off with the sped-up video and, BONUS: no lame music! Thank you sir! A job and video well-done! Now for some not well-done smoked brisket!!!

When normal people see old hot water heaters: Junk
When Jimmy Diresta sees old hot water heater: that would make a great smoker

Man, that old timey reciprocating saw is gorgeous. With equipment like that, you are your own warranty─if something breaks, all you need is some scrap and a welder to fix it.

Of COURSE you New York boys would make pastrami 🤣 Loved the C-clamp control on the fire box vent. Absolutely awesome!

That is a fantastic build! My son and I built a smoker a couple of years ago from an old tank, but watching this is making me want to do another one! So many nice touches and features! LOVE the insulated fire box!!!!
