Patna was not like that before. In "Indica," a historical and geographical account written by the Greek historian Megasthenes, Patliputra (modern-day Patna) is described in considerable detail. Megasthenes served as an ambassador to the court of Chandragupta Maurya, and his observations provide valuable insights into the city during the Mauryan Empire.
According to Megasthenes Patliputra was an extensive city with impressive urban planning. It was situated at the confluence of the Ganga river , which enhanced its strategic importance. The city was laid out in a rectangular shape and was surrounded by a massive wooden wall with numerous towers and gates. The wall was fortified and served as a strong defense mechanism.
Patliputra was described as a large and populous city. The city stretched approximately 9.5 miles in length and 1.5 miles in width, reflecting its grandeur and extensive area. The city boasted magnificent palaces and buildings made of wood and adorned with elaborate decorations. The royal palace was particularly noted for its splendor, with intricate designs and luxurious interiors that showcased the wealth and power of the Mauryan dynasty.
: Megasthenes noted the efficient administrative system in place at Patliputra. The city was governed by a council of thirty officials divided into six committees, each responsible for different aspects of governance such as trade, commerce, and public welfare.
Patliputra was a thriving economic and cultural center. It was a hub for trade and commerce, with bustling markets and a variety of goods from different parts of the empire. The city was also a cultural melting pot, with people from various regions and backgrounds contributing to its rich and diverse culture.
Megasthenes' account of Patliputra highlights its significance as a major urban center in ancient India, reflecting the prosperity and advanced state of the Mauryan Empire.

Kulfi sold at Marine Drive are usually 20,30 or 40 rupees depending on the size. The one in the yellow shirt was trying to rip you off, he was trying to sell you that at Rs 100 first. I recommend always looking for shops or street vendors where the price for the item is already mentioned or see if there are already some customers.

Please make extra precautions for your safety when traveling. These days, gang rapes are on the rise, and even while the police are responding quickly, but still some incidents are simply irreversible.
    1) Please don't let the lady start conversations with men before you're comfortable that she is safe. You should always lead the conversation first.
    2) Always carry a sharp weapon and avoid going to deserted or dubious-looking locations. If you happen to find yourself somewhere where you don't see any local women around, get out of there right away.
    3) When choosing a hotel for your stay, always choose well-known brands rather than small, unknown properties.
    4) Have a local number on hand in case you need to phone the police.
    5) Please leave immediately one of you gets intuition that the place is not appropriate. Avoid accepting food or snacks or drink from locals in dubious situations as they might add something malicious to it and make you unconscious.
    6) States like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Bihar should be avoided at all costs. Avoid going through those states altogether; You should absolutely not go there. I see you are in Bihar. Please leave for your own safety.
It is always safer to travel in groups if you have buddies with you if you like to visit remote locations. Please heed the advice of your local government as most governments in Europe and the US have issued active cautions against traveling to India owing to safety concerns. Communicate with your country's embassy in India.
Although these precautions are severe, and such incidents are rare but it's better to be safe than sorry. Once upon a time, In India we lived in a wonderful civilization where we used to think that visitors are gods, but now days, rapes, molestation, scams, and harassment are routine and happen often. Because of the large population, cleaning everything will take some time. In the meantime, be careful, cautious, and safe.

@@smitakumar4572 This applies to all of India, not just Bihar. The states I listed are those where it is more likely that something bad can happen. I regret to inform you that, given the events in Jharkhand rape, I would strongly advise all women, especially ones who may still be able, to avoid traveling to India and cancel their tickets. Among the approximately 600 million+ men who live in India, there is no doubt that someone might harass or abuse this couple. and if they put it on UA-cam and it becomes public, it will make life extremely difficult for other men like me who reside overseas and we must cope with unrelated consequences of that although we have nothing to do with that. You are aware of how international media puts this kind of news specially when Its about India, and here where I am at the moment, people are calling that every Indian Men is rapist. We just want to live in peace so I am advising them.

Oh just stop being discriminative to Bihar and Summer season is all over India, In South and West it is more. Why are you so jealous.? Keep your advice shut. Also there are many beautiful places in Bihar.

In Bihar the only tourist place is 'Suchi Stupa' a Budhhist Shrine, with a lake , glass bridge, some water activities. And don't go to remote random places alone be careful (not just Bihar but same for every state) and I'm requesting you to go Beaches Digha or Mandarmani ,or Sundarbans world's largest Mangrove forest as you are close to West Bengal.
