People say to me too bad your hood scoop isn’t functional.... to which I say : what the heck you mean ? It functions great 👍 makes the truck look cool as heck!
Completed the install on my Tundra last weekend.. it turned out perfect!! I was so nervous the holes were not going to line up with the bolts.. 😅 but they did!! Thanks for this informative video!!
I love the way the scoop looks on these Tundras!! I just received my hood scoop yesterday and plan to use this video to help with the installation. Thank you 🙏🏽
It is a step drill bit. Just to save some time and when you don't know the exact hole diameter you can simply drill up to the right size without the need to replace it. 🙂
Thank you for showing the community how to do this. I just bought a 2021 Tundra and was drooling over the hood scoops on other Tundra and thought I would have to buy the entire hood to have that. But I found one on eBay I'm going to paint it the Attitude Black to go with my truck and install it myself.
Wow, that is awesome! I am glad to hear this. Good decision DIY! 😊 Thanks for your comment! The Tundra is a really nice, comfortable, and reliable truck. Congrats on your new purchase.
Kimberley, I think I found the same one on ebay, did you have any issues with it? It looks identical to this one he installed. I'm going to have to have mine painted silver
Looks good! I give you credit for doing it yourself and drilling into the hood. Great job! Looking forward ro seeing more on your tundra. I have a 2018 tundra sport 4x4 so was interesting to see someone put the hood scoop on. Thanks!
Thanks for your feedback! This week I will be installing a leveling kit. I should be uploading that video hopefully by next Sunday. I like the sport edition it looks great!
Great video! I just added the hoodscoop to my 21 calvary blue tundra. Your video was very helpful. I will post a review on my channel. Thanks again for this video. Very detailed and informative.
Thanks for the great video. Just finished my install on my Black Tundra Platinum. The tapes on the screws holders was smart idea. When I did the install 3 of the screws was off a bit took the tape off and fit perfect. Thanks
Excellent job, I ordered all the parts and my scoop came with non of those black T-bolts except for two for the front black piece, and where did you get the retaining nuts as in 1:38 of the video along with those small screws to attach the black piece ? Thanks
Thanks!, Good question. It came as a kit in my case. Those bolts came with the OEM hood. The alternative I found was a listing on Ebay for a Hilux but not sure if it fit. This is the link www.ebay.com/itm/234830278799?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=khqvn7vUT1G&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=zrbKhLD6TMO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@ excellent, thank you! My hood scoop came with nothing lol and it’s straight from Toyota, the black piece came with the two T-screws on thats it, have to try to find the 4 backings that the screws for that black piece will screw into plus this tiny screws.
@michaellimbert8338 Ask them about it just in case they didn't include it by error. If you have no other option then I saw that there are Ebay sellers that offer a kit including the hardware. Maybe you can ask them to sell just the hardware. The only think is that the majority are not OEM and I am not sure about if it fit. Example : www.ebay.com/itm/385142328625?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=m1j4l98xr9c&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=zrbKhLD6TMO&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Thanks! Yes, that would be very helpful. Maybe, since these are OEM replacement parts, they didn't imagine someone will install/adapt it to other Tundra editions. 🙂
I started with 1/8 for precision, then 1/4 but it got stock in 3 holes and ended up with 5/16 that was my next option on the drill bit I had at that moment. It fitted perfectly without any force as shown in the video with 5/16. Hope this help 🙂
Do you have the part number for the black bolts that have a fixed flat square washer as you show at 3:50 in your video? It appears that you need 8 of them.. the kit I ordered only came with 4 so I am having trouble finding the part # and my local hardware store does not have those, thanks for the help!!
Those bolts came as a kit without part number ☹️. But I found very similar bolts on Ebay, not sure if works. Here is the link: www.ebay.com/itm/234830278799?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=khqvn7vUT1G&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=zrbKhLD6TMO&var&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Thanks! I saw some pictures of Tundras with Pro Comp Fender Flares. They looks great! Probably you will have to add wider tires, long travel control arms, or spacers. The hood scoop is also a great addition :). BTW I have been looking for Spidertrax or Bora wheel spacers, but it looks like no one have them in stock right now :(.
The middle plastic part is gray. I recently installed a semi-bumper with a hidden winch. Only a small portion of the plastic part is visible. I painted it santin black to match the new bumper. Looks great too.
Thank you! I am currently installing a leveling kit 3" in the front and 1" in the back! I hope to have the video uploaded probably tomorrow or Monday. I will be doing lots of mods!! Stay tuned!! And subscribe!!!! :)
I put mine on. I absolutely could not find a body shop willing to install my scoop so i did it myself. It’s definitely not something id recommend unless you have some skills but mine came out great. It was a bit scary considering my truck had 18 miles on it and i do worry a bit about future rust. I would strongly prefer a factory added scoop, but I put clear coat on the drilled holes and rubber spacers where between the scoop and hood. I did about as good of a job as possible, but it still worries me. I plan on keeping my truck till the wheels fall off. Wish i could post a pic cause it looks awesome. Ive got one of the most mod.ed tundra’s out there
Yes, I will do a video about it! I have been very busy these days, but I will do as soon as possible, probably by next week. What I can tell you now is that it really obstructs the view but in my opinion is just a little bit. I noted the difference for around the first 3 days only. Maybe the big issue can be while parking, because in addition of the hood scoop I have a 3.5 lift kit, but I have a front camera installed for that :).
In my opinion these OEM parts are expensive here in Puerto Rico too, more than $500 in total :( . Here is the OEM part numbers for all the components you need. Try to search by part number using you favorite local search engine: 76181-34900 Scoop x 1 76182-34900 Guide x 1 76183-34010 Scoop Protector x 1 76184-34010 Protector Hood Bulg x 2 76185-34010 Scoop Protector x 1 75868-AA020 Rocker Molding Fastener x 4 90080-17189 Tail Lamp Assembly Nut x 8 I hope this help.

Thanks! The only differences I see are the holes to fit the hood scoop because the Sport edition comes with it. But other than that should be the same.

Hello here you can find measurements around it. I took a photo and added the approx. measurements. You can find it in the link below. I hope it helps. www.tundras.com/media/20220907_191541.33913/
Awesome video, dude! I've seen another one on UA-cam where the guy just made it so complex that I didn't even want to try to do it but you simplified it in a way that makes me confident I can do this myself. One question I have is what kind of a drillbit did you use and what size?

Espero te sirva esta info. Cualquier cosa me dejas saber. 👍
Thanks for your feedback! That's a good question. To answer it I have to remove it to see if there are water marks under the scoop. My guess is that probably a small amount of water can get under the scoop. But I will update on this topic when I confirm it.
Looks great, you could easily make that functional if you wanted too, to either just help cool the engine well, which would be super easy and worth it, or better yet, they have a spider style intake manifold where the stock throttle body points straight up, I’m tempted to buy this and make it work haha.
Someone else commented on this as well but I wanted to check back in with you; do you have any vibration on the scoop or issues because you didn't drill the holes under the black piece? Can you lift up slightly in the middle of the scoop or is it very tight/secure? Many thanks! Great video!
Hello, thanks for asking. No vibrations or issues so far of any kind. It is tight and secure so far. I will post a short video to talk about it. Other viewer asked if water go under the scoop. I am curious about it so I plan to remove it an see how it looks. Also I am going to try to lift up in the middle so you can see how tight it is.
Hello! You can find it in any Toyota OEM parts/dealer. You can also find it online. There are several web sites where you can find it by part numbers listed below. There are some websites that also offer this as a kit. Here is the list of all items that I bought including the part number. 76181-34900 Scoop x 1 76182-34900 Guide x 1 76183-34010 Scoop Protector x 1 76184-34010 Protector Hood Bulg x 2 76185-34010 Scoop Protector x 1 75868-AA020 Rocker Molding Fastener x 4 90080-17189 Tail Lamp Assembly Nut x 8 I hope this help! ☺

I ordered on a local Toyota dealer. Recently, I started to see aftermarket kits available on Ebay and Amazon for a fraction of the price of the OEM, but not sure about the quality.
As shown in this video starting from the end. Remove all preasure clips below the hood to remove the cover. Then remove all bolts below the hood scoop. All holes will be exposed after its removal. Can you share the idea or why you want to remove it? I am just curios about it :). I hope it helps.
I was very impressed with your video However I'm having a hard time trying to get the part numbers for the bolts with the squared head that clicks in the underneath of the scoop. Even Toyota cant find it Please help J
Hello, in my case those bolts came wrapped with the hood scoop. I assumed it were part of the same part number as a kit. I'll do the research to see if this bolts can be found separately and let you know!
Hello, I did the research but didn't find it as a part number. But I see some bolts very similar on eBay for another Toyota model (non-US ) in the following link: www.ebay.com/itm/10X-TOYOTA-HILUX-VIGO-FORTUNER-2009-2014-NUT-FLANGE-WITH-BOLT-FOR-HOOD-SCOOP-/232443208180 You can check the measurements on your hood scoop and compare with this to see if it works. But, I understand all bolts should be included with the hood scoop under the same part number. At least, that was my case.
@@TundraMods Hi again, I ordered the clip bolts from that link you gave me. I gave this same Toyota part number to the dealer and did not appear in Toyota USA parts very odd!! When I get the clip/bolts I will get back to you : ) Thanks again
So as far as I know the hood scoop is one way of cooling system for the engine, what I'm seeing right now is just basically for looks not for any cooling purposes. I don't know what Toyota is thinking about this, and also I don't know if the truck that has a hood scoop originally has a hole under that hood scoop?
Hello, Good question. Unfortunately, it's only for a more aggressive look, same for models that comes with it from factory. I heard that "Toyota engineer Mike Sweer said the reason they are not functional is to keep the engine at a specified operating temperature". But I didn't find any official article from Toyota about this.
Hello, I used a Dupli-Color brand similar to this: www.amazon.com/Dupli-Color-Toyota-Exact-Match-Automotive-Bundles/dp/B07FCSH8GC/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=duplicolor+tundra+white&qid=1612240872&sr=8-3 .

Also www.sparksparts.com/p-2014-tundra-hood-scoop-pktunhs privide it as a kit. Mine came unpainted and cost me 100 in a local shop. 100 was the lowest and 150 was the highest quote I found.
Glad I could help! I don't know why body shops are reluctant to take this on 🤔. I didn't ask about it on local shops, because I wanted to do it by myself but I understand that for any body shops should be an easy job after finding required part list. I've herd there is no instruction guide included is that true . Why did you not put the front clips on that you have to drill out. When you drive down the freeway at 70 MPH. you don't want it rattling or worse to come off.
Hello, You are right! There is not instruction guide included :(. Initially I thought those were more for alignment because it has 2 bolts. I went around 75 mph no and nothing happened. But now that you mentioned it, I think that it will be better to drill and add it to make sure it is safe.

Hi my name is Wes, I came across your video because I was just going to put a decal there where the imprint of the scoop. Yes I am with you about the hood scoop, I love the looks of the scoop. I had A Tacoma sport that had one. I have a 2014 Limited Crewmax TRD off road, and it is white. I wanted to know was keeping it a white scoop your first choice? I thought about putting a black one on, though that would be a good mix with the white theme, what is your thoughts?
Hello Wes! I am glad you came across to my video and thanks for asking! Tacoma Sport looks really, really great with the hood scoop. Yes, keeping it a white scoop was my first option. I did a quick search and saw some pictures of white Tundras with black decal in the hood and it really looks nice. This is one of the pictures I found: tnstatic.net/attachments/img_1922-jpg.76645/ I think that having a black grill with black decal makes a nice combination. I was looking for a picture of a white Tundra with hood scoop and black decal over it but didn’t find anything ☹. That should look nice too. I think that the base color for the hood scoop should be the same color of the truck and adding a black decal covering part of the top section of the hood scoop, excluding the sides, should also look great. A black decal without a real hood scoop looks great too! This is just my humble opinion. 😊 I hope it helps.
Thanks for the pic, that does look nice with the grill frame all white. My grill is all chrome that white wrapped then have black hood scoop. Thanks for that

@@エクスキューションアウトリガー Yes, it is :(. For more or less that price you can find a whole hood with built-in scoops something like this from eBay: www.ebay.com/itm/14-17-Toyota-Tundra-ALL-RKS-Duraflex-Body-Kit-Hood-113298/152867087469?epid=11017008441&hash=item239796a46d:g:1bEAAOSwGOlfMzVI But I liked more the OEM style :).
Thanks!!! Yes, I went to few paint shops and the quote was from 100 to 150. I paid 100 :). They removed the gas cap and kept it for color matching. They took around a week because of the work load they had in that moment.
Thank you! Well, I think that it is a possibility depending on your top speed. It can be very risky at high speeds. I didn't install the plastics clips as you can see in the video due to the big holes required. But to be honest with you, if I have to do this install again, I will install those too. My top speed is 70mph approx. no issues so far. I highly recommend to use all bolts! :)
That's a good question. It will be nice to have if functional, but I liked it more for the aggressive look. :) But you never know maybe I change my mind later. :)
People say to me too bad your hood scoop isn’t functional.... to which I say : what the heck you mean ? It functions great 👍 makes the truck look cool as heck!
Good ideas. You’re doing great work. This video will age well and never go out of style
Thanks man! I am glad to hear that!
Completed the install on my Tundra last weekend.. it turned out perfect!! I was so nervous the holes were not going to line up with the bolts.. 😅 but they did!! Thanks for this informative video!!
I am glad to hear that! 😀
I love the way the scoop looks on these Tundras!! I just received my hood scoop yesterday and plan to use this video to help with the installation. Thank you 🙏🏽
You don't know how glad I am to hear that! 🥳 I hope this video helps!
@@TundraMods I’m curious as to why you chose to use that type of drill bit? What kind of bit is that called? Thank you 🙏🏽
It is a step drill bit. Just to save some time and when you don't know the exact hole diameter you can simply drill up to the right size without the need to replace it. 🙂
@@TundraMods okay great advice, thanks again!! I’m looking forward to this modification!!
Where did you purchase the hoodscoop?
@@keith7374 I purchased it on Ebay.
@@kimberleyngo2348 Thanks!
Awesome, it looks great. Thank you for sharing your expert installation with us.
Thanks!
Very good work, you did a fantastic job showing how to install!
Thanks, I am glad to hear that!
Looks awesome. You are a braver man than me. I would be terrified to drill holes in my Tundra.
🤣
Thanks for the video , I just ordered one myself. Looks so much better with it. Can't wait to install mine
I am glad to hear that. I hope this help you during the install. I agree with you, also IMO this give a more aggresive look to the Tundra 😎.

Thanks
Nice! I am glad it helped! Thanks for your feedback. 🙂

Great video man, great job on the scoop looks sick!!!
Thanks!
Thank you for taking the time to show us how you did it.
You're welcome!
Very Nice!
I’m surprised the company didn’t provide a template. Good job making your own!
Thanks! Yes, that would be very helpful. Maybe, since these are OEM replacement parts, they didn't imagine someone will install/adapt it to other Tundra editions. 🙂
looks awesome!! good work, and nice video!
Thanks!
great detail in your videos! keep it up
Thank you! I will do! 🙂
Did mine today, turned out perfect, thanks for the help sir!
Nice! I am glad to hear that!
Only thing I would suggest is using a center punch before drilling those holes. Either way you did a great job. Very precise and clear instructions.
Good suggestion! Thanks!
Nice job! 1/4 or 5/16 bit size for the hole?
I have extra I can ship you.
I'm very impressed by your video, very will done educational. I'm putting on Pro Comp Fender Flares on my Tundra as well as the hood Scoop.
Thanks! I saw some pictures of Tundras with Pro Comp Fender Flares. They looks great! Probably you will have to add wider tires, long travel control arms, or spacers. The hood scoop is also a great addition :). BTW I have been looking for Spidertrax or Bora wheel spacers, but it looks like no one have them in stock right now :(.
where did you buy your pro comp fender flares
What color is the middle plastic part on your front bumper?
The middle plastic part is gray. I recently installed a semi-bumper with a hidden winch. Only a small portion of the plastic part is visible. I painted it santin black to match the new bumper. Looks great too.
Dang man that looks great! you definitely were detailed how to do it.
Thank you! I am currently installing a leveling kit 3" in the front and 1" in the back! I hope to have the video uploaded probably tomorrow or Monday. I will be doing lots of mods!! Stay tuned!! And subscribe!!!! :)
Where did you purchase this scoop?
I put mine on. I absolutely could not find a body shop willing to install my scoop so i did it myself. It’s definitely not something id recommend unless you have some skills but mine came out great. It was a bit scary considering my truck had 18 miles on it and i do worry a bit about future rust. I would strongly prefer a factory added scoop, but I put clear coat on the drilled holes and rubber spacers where between the scoop and hood. I did about as good of a job as possible, but it still worries me. I plan on keeping my truck till the wheels fall off. Wish i could post a pic cause it looks awesome. Ive got one of the most mod.ed tundra’s out there
Can you do a video of driving, weather the hood scoop obstructs the view at all verses before and does it bother you will driving.
Is the white color Super White 040?
Yes, 040
What is the way to buying this item original ... in my country Bahrain, it's expensive to purchase, and i have to 3 weeks for order
In my opinion these OEM parts are expensive here in Puerto Rico too, more than $500 in total :( . Here is the OEM part numbers for all the components you need. Try to search by part number using you favorite local search engine:

It comes unpainted. I went to a local shop. I got different quotes from $100 to $150 for the paint job.

Does this work the same with a 4Runner if I wanted to add a fake hood scoop?
What year and model is your 4Runner?
I love your video..Does water get under scoop when it rains
Thanks for your feedback! That's a good question. To answer it I have to remove it to see if there are water marks under the scoop. My guess is that probably a small amount of water can get under the scoop. But I will update on this topic when I confirm it.
Looks great, you could easily make that functional if you wanted too, to either just help cool the engine well, which would be super easy and worth it, or better yet, they have a spider style intake manifold where the stock throttle body points straight up, I’m tempted to buy this and make it work haha.
Thanks! That would be great!
is there any place i can get it install?
I don't know, but there are some Tundras forum that you can post it to see if someone in your area can do the install for you.
Forgot to mention that it can't be lift up from the middle, it is very tight.
Thanks for making this video! Any issues with not making holes for the clips under the black insert piece?
Thanks for your feedback! No issues so far. Looks the same way as the first day.

Hello, in my case those bolts came wrapped with the hood scoop. I assumed it were part of the same part number as a kit. I'll do the research to see if this bolts can be found separately and let you know!
Hello, I did the research but didn't find it as a part number. But I see some bolts very similar on eBay for another Toyota model (non-US ) in the following link: www.ebay.com/itm/10X-TOYOTA-HILUX-VIGO-FORTUNER-2009-2014-NUT-FLANGE-WITH-BOLT-FOR-HOOD-SCOOP-/232443208180

But now that you mentioned it, I think that it will be better to drill and add it to make sure it is safe.

...but I don't know about its quality and fitment.

Thanks for that
Anytime!

Yes I will install a bolts as to wind and speed I would not want it ripping off, must be 100 % Secure.
What drill bit is that you used/size?
Hello, thanks for asking! I forgot to mention that. I started with 1/8 for precision, then 1/4 but it got stock in 3 holes and ended up with 5/16 that was my next option on the drill bit I had at that moment. It fitted perfectly without any force as shown in the video with 5/16.

Tambien hay websites que venden el kit. El hood scoop lo mande a pintar. Cuesta pintarlo de 100 a 150 fue lo que mas o menos me estaban pidiendo por ese trabajo.
Gracias

I Like your video well done, However I think for myself, I would want to add an sealant glue to the boys that go through the hood as I said earlier driving down the Highway at 70 MPH I want that Hood Scoop as secure as possible. Are you a body shop repairman. ?
Thanks!!! You know what, I didn't included that part in this video :(. But I added sealant glue to all bolts, also to protect from corrosion in addition to the paint. I am not a body shop repairman, but I really like to do DIY projects :).

@@TundraMods how much
@@エクスキューションアウトリガー Hello, 530 approx. in parts + paint shop 100. Total around 630.
@@TundraMods that's alot for a scoop
@@エクスキューションアウトリガー Yes, it is :(. For more or less that price you can find a whole hood with built-in scoops something like this from eBay: www.ebay.com/itm/14-17-Toyota-Tundra-ALL-RKS-Duraflex-Body-Kit-Hood-113298/152867087469?epid=11017008441&hash=item239796a46d:g:1bEAAOSwGOlfMzVI
But I liked more the OEM style :).
I have a 2007 Toyota tundra I didn't do nothing like that on
It looks great even stock.😎
I like it. Want to do this to my 19 1974 .
I am glad you like it. I hope it helps to do your install! 🙂
Great video! Did you take it to a paint shop to have it color matched prior to installation? If so about how much did it cost?
Thanks!!! Yes, I went to few paint shops and the quote was from 100 to 150. I paid 100 :). They removed the gas cap and kept it for color matching. They took around a week because of the work load they had in that moment.
Thanks! It looks good!
@@michaelc.6145 Thanks! Anytime!
Do you know the part number for the black bolts that snap in? I can’t find them anywhere and I didn’t see it on your list. Thank you!
I was thinking about doing the same to my 1794
It looks awesome with it. :)
Try putting the paper on the hood and then do your model that way all the bolts will touch the paper.
Good job 👏. Saludos 🇬🇹
Thank you!!
@@TundraMods you welcome 🙏🏻
Nice video
Thank you!
Great video!! Very helpful. Do you think you could of gotten away with using less bolts? Like maybe 4 or 6?
Good job
Thanks! 😊
Good Job.
Thank you!
Why don’t you make it functional and cut a hole in your hood
That's a good question. It will be nice to have if functional, but I liked it more for the aggressive look. :) But you never know maybe I change my mind later. :)
You did not specify weather it is a TRD Hood Scoop or MR Hood Scoop, please Specify.
Thanks for asking! It is a TRD Hood Scoop.
