Owner just came out with a hook called "The Haymaker" that's a wide gap ewg with its point bent a little outwards. it's supposed to allow you to use an ewg for flipping but still get the benefit of a straight shank hook that's been snelled. If you used it on this bait the hook point should sit more parallel to the back of the bait out of package, and open up that gap a bit. Awesome idea for a popper though. I've got a couple of frogs already that I think are made of this same material- you can't store it around other plastics- it causes issues just like elaztech. I don't know who made them though- they came in a Monster Bass box and I never threw them. I think a company called D-Day maybe made them- something like that.
I live in an area with super shallow lakes that are choked with vegetation. The water gets into the 90s during the summer and the fish are really active. Perfect for topwater frogs. I suck at topwater. Topwater is the bane of my existence.
Think I've mentioned it before, zmans poppin frogz my favorite frog & top water Texas rig so weedles & floats. Can burn across surface as well. It doesn't walk though it fails in that category
Looks great. I'd have to bend the hook up or something. Maybe it needs it's own hook design. That leg action is the best I think. Never seen a frog lure do that.
I love this bait! Or should I say the idea of this bait, my fishing partner brought one back from a Bass Pro Shop two months ago. And I fell in love with it as I am a popper kind of guy. And this gives you the ability to fish it weedless where you wouldn't normally throw your regular treble hooked popper. Can't wait for it to warm up enough to throw this. I have been fishing just not topwater yet here in Pennsylvania
I can’t wait for the snakehead bite to turn back on out here in Philly, because that black one I got in the give away is gonna get me a 29”-33” easy!! So fired up to throw it for snakehead. This cold snap we have now jammed everything up 🥴..I’ll cop another for bass too. Smallmouth will absolutely crush it 1,000,000 thanks man!!!!
i open the hook up a little to make it more parallel with the top of the popper and its helped improve the hookup percentage which has been good. use it with braid as well.
Question for ya, would you be open to answering a more specific question on one of the lake breakdowns? Struggling, and not sure the best place to reach out or if that's something you have time for.
I’ll have to try that, I hope the hookup ratio is good. Off topic question….have you ever had success with a puffball hair jig in the south or is just a northern thing?
Thanks for the video Matt, I gotta say Im a little skeptical on this bait, looks good but I do see a few flaws with it, hopefully Berkeley will fix them, great idea though.

very cool thanks for sharing! im going to give the haymaker a try!
I got 2. Sitting in my tackle, waiting for that beautiful summer time fishing.
Nice!

Noooooo! Topwater is so much fun! haha
🤔 little bending on that hook and some trimming to one side of the tails to help it walk and that looks like a 💰 bait! Thanks for sharing 🎣
You bet

Ill check it out!
Great video matt! I somehow missed your livestream. I wish I didn’t but I’ll be sure towatch the uploaded version of it
there will be more!
I am gonna have to pick up a couple of those. My son loves poppers and popping Frogs. This a a combo of both in one bait.
Yep!
Looks great. I'd have to bend the hook up or something. Maybe it needs it's own hook design.
I do open the hook slightly to make it more parallel with the top of the bait
@@MattStefanFishing try the new Owner Haymaker EWG hook. That might fix it!!
It seems you may have to bend the hook open more, as it really does look like there's very little hook gap between it and the bait
i do normally open it up a little
@@MattStefanFishing I will also try that new owner hook that is mentioned in the comments
I missed the launch on this one or I'd have it right now. I'll be taking care of that. Looking forward to the live stream tonight!
Should be fun!
this vid is perfect timing for me, i just had one of my best days frog fishing in indiana, and they would have absolutely clobbered this thing.
That is awesome!
Just picked up the power pop and the power pop mini can’t wait to rig it up and cast these bad boys!!
good luck!
Single EWG is very interesting on that bait
its different

the legs are a different type of material thats for sure
@@MattStefanFishing try the new Haymaker EWG hook in it, by owner!! Might solve that weird hook angle.
Coming up on 25 thousand subscribers ! Good for you 👍! Frog fishing is a riot 😆
thanks! one of my favorite ways to fish!
That’s what I want but with treble hooks… for open water of course
you could mount a stinger treble on the EWG

agreed
Thank you, Matt!
My pleasure!
Looks like a nice bait. I bet with the popper you could rig that with a treble cheater hook for open water fish. I bet the smallies would crush it.
yep!

AWESOME!
Really cool, and hookup percentage would be my concern. But since you haven't had an issue I feel confident in ordering some.
i open the hook up a little to make it more parallel with the top of the popper and its helped improve the hookup percentage which has been good. use it with braid as well.
@@MattStefanFishing great thanks for the great info.
I love this bait it comes in two sizes and no one talks about it
yes it does i forgot to mention that!

just reach out through messenger on facebook or instagram
It’s worth trying out. I still question the hook up ratio the way the hook points towards the bait though
I do bend open the hook slightly to get the point more parallel with the top of the bait.
That's the one thing we were worried about as well. But like any other bait we may have to figure out how to modify it for her own needs.
The new Owner flipping hooks, the Hatmaker, could solve that problem
That would be the owner haymaker, great hook 🪝
Throw an Owner Beast on it and see how that does.
Getting ready for some top water action ! Live tonight
Can't wait!
Those look real nice! Definitely going to get a couple soon.
Right on!
I’ll have to try that, I hope the hookup ratio is good. Off topic question….have you ever had success with a puffball hair jig in the south or is just a northern thing?
i have had good success down south with a black one for smallmouth and a white one on spots and largemouth. I crushes out west too!
Looks like an awesome bait!!!👊🏻 Have to put it on my wish list!!! 👍🏻 Stay Safe & God Bless!!!!
Thanks! You too!
Good looking bait thanks for the vid
You bet

Its a unique topwater bait. thats for sure!
Love the parrot too
yep!
Can't wait for top water
its coming!
Hey Matt do those frogs hold up good or do they tear pretty easy? Also what size is the one you have in the video?
they hold up well and that is the larger size
Cool bait I like 👍
thanks!
I need it!
Its a good one!
The tail is only downfall. Easy to pull out and then it’s all gone.
thanks for watching
TRY 5 YEARS AGO LOL.
haha
I’m gonna be honest awesome idea looks awesome as well, but there’s no way that thing has a hook up ratio anywhere near 70%
give it a try and you might be surpirsed.
