Way to go guys. All of your videos have been a huge help to me here in Portland, OR restoring my dad's old '78 R100/7.

The rubbing alcohol allows the rubber o-rings to be temporarily slippery without accellerating the deterioration that would result from drowning them in oil. I use rubbing alcohol for installing rubber footpeg bushings, the rubber covers on cables, snaking the rubber accordian boot of the K bike clutch cables through the transmission housing, etc. Alcohol truly is your friend :)

No, it is stock but I will sometimes need to use a leather patch on top of an inner tube instead of the vinyl one supplied with the tool. The inner tube grips better and the leather takes up more space allowing a small 32 mm fork tube to fit snugly in the tool. Thanks, Chris

supposedly the replacement rings are a bit small and dont seal as well as the old ones, so some of the airhead guys recommend keeping the old ones if they are solid

Thanks for all your videos. They saved my life plenty of times. Why do you place the tiny spring whirlings at the bottom? The specs from Wirth or others say vice versa. All the best from Germany.

Is there a tork spec for that bottom fork 10 mil bolt?

Chris, have you modified your Jim's fork leg tool? I believe I have the same one but BMW's tubes are too small for it.

Hi, quick question hope you can help me. I have a 91 r100gs and I want to swap out the forks for something newer like a cr or an rm have you ever done that? Do they make a conversion headset? Thanks in advance great videos by the way!

Hello.. Great video fellas, can't thank you enough........ My question to all is do you need to replace those 3 steel "piston rings" ?? The ones which you aligned the gaps... It seems like they would wear and need replaced?? When I go to order parts those rings are part of the enter damper assembly which has to be ordered as a whole ($64.00)... Anyone out there with any money saving advice?? Anyone rebuild without replacing the damper assembly rings?? Thanks only 37K on the bike..

Wish I had been able to watch this before I first stripped a set of R65Ls forks 25 years ago :) Great video, amusing especially as american swearing always makes me laugh. I really must get one of those fork oil syringes as I use a small funnel (from a kids cooking set). Only one complaint, you can pop a wheelie on an R65, so long as you don't give a shit about acting like a dickhead and revving the bollocks off it before crashing it from 3rd to 2nd....
