VALVE ADJUSTMENT VIDEO----
• BMW R50/2 Valve Adjust...
Nicely done! Thanks for NOT having annoying music blaring in the background.
Mate, this video was.. *chef's kiss*, you made something that has always felt intimidating into an approachable process, great work.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! You made that look easy! Well done!
Wow! Very concise and to the point, showing what needs to be done. Very informative and very helpful. This is the way an instructional video should be put together. Thanks much!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for such a clear and concise video. Will make a point to buy more parts from you.
Awesome, thank you!
Good video on pushrod seal replace as others have said... But this is a really good time to pull out the cam followers to check the condition of the cam follower face. I have found sevral engines with cam followers that were starting to spall and am very glad the I was able to replace them before a bunch of hard metal went through the oil pump.
Great job. Just a suggestion. If you remove the clip on the wrist pin, and the wrist pin, while the piston is still on the cylinder, they’ll pull out as a unit. It’s so much easier and faster to put back together.
can you do a video on how to sync Bing slide carbs? There is not much on UA-cam that is clear and concise.
Very helpful, thank you! How would you feel about Permatex Ultra Black (oil resistant) Gasket Maker on the pushrod seals, Hylomar Blue (fuel and oil resistant) on the base gasket, and no additional coating of the head gasket? Thanks for helping out a lot of BMW owners!
That was the most useful video I've seen in ages.
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful, looking do do this with my 60/5 shortly! Thanks for. Posting! ❤
Strong Advice. Do NOT use RTV, or any other goo, on an airhead motor.
to each there own, i was always taught to use a thin layer.
No to RTV!
Hate RTV!!!
@@TheBMWGuy You need a new teacher! NO silicon.
I would recommend you consider, "Three Bond" grey gasket seal. This is not silicone based, is a perfect grey match for case and head. I NEVER use any form of silicone on engines, transmissions etc.. If a compression surface leak it's either torque, gasket or deck. The biggest mistake I see are people using scotch brute pads and wheels to clean flat surfaces. This is just my opinion.
Great production and happy new year
You also didn't mention torque? Just the same very nice production
You make it look so easy!
Valve cover is cracked!
Great info! I'm gonna do this to my '92 GSPD this weekend.
Have fun!
Excelente video. Claro y sencillo. Thanks
NO SILICONE ESPECIALLY ON THE HEAD GASKET
A little permatex or copper spray at most
Just what I needed! Thank you
You're so welcome!
Awesome. TY
10 minutes, wow, it usually takes me a couple hours to do that job.
Lol
Let's pray that the silicon used to seal up this engine doesn't block the oil-feed to the head, which is pumped along both upper cylinder studs! And reusing an already-compressed head gasket and reusing rings is quite questionable.
my guess is you didn't watch the whole video.
Nice job 👍
Great job. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub!
Nice vid, thanks.
When I idle my R100RT as you did, with the covers off, heaps of oil squirts out of the rockers, both sides. That can't be normal, right? Any suggestions - where is the problem, how do I fix it?
10 minute video but a 4 hour task.
better than a 4 hour video for a 10 min task.
@@TheBMWGuyeasy enough to make any service on airheads take ten times as long if you're doing it solo in your garage !
Does the gasket kit you linked include new piston rings?
Why would you zip tie the piston when you had another gasket to remove behind it…?
How important is it to retorque after 500, or 1000 miles?
And need To rest valves etc .
Will gaskets shrink over time ?
Good video
yes REtorque will get done at the next service.
At 10:00, I noticed what appeared to be a crack in the valve cover cooling fin. Would that call for a replacement…?
Not unless it is visually offensive to the owner, in that location it's purely cosmetic... much like the broken fin on the cylinder
I took my bike to get a rear main seal and took care of the clutch since it was apart at a “reputable shop” after a few weeks of getting it back my bike has developed a grabby clutch. Can you help?
👍
I am guessing that the point is that the video is 10 mins long. Doing the work at both ends will take longer - for most of us mere mrtals
word
If you can do that in 10 mins, you should be working for a formula one team !
lol hate to break it to you but I do work on a Indy car team
Why not replace the pushrod rubbers while the cylinder is off?
i did.. watch the whole video
Do you guys rebuild motorcycles??
Koji je zazor ventila. Pozdrav.
I would replace the valve cover, huge fracture!
this is a customer bike and it wasn't a concern of his
Does valve cover r75 and r100 are same? R75 cover can use for r100?
yes
No torque settings. Tsk, tsk
all airheads are different, an r50 and r100 will be different. and I cant include torque specs for everything. sorry
You should.
TEN minutes my foot, you never did show you fighting to get that base gasket off or the piston ring clamp,
I thought the video was informative and BMWPG has a great online shop, but the title is misleading. Why do you need clickbait for an Airhead repair video? You might watch this for an overview, but any serious home wrencher is going to end up watching Chris Harris’s three-part, 36-minute series anyway, so this seems like a waste of ten minutes. If anything, it makes it look too easy and suggests that you’re gonna just breeze through what is probably a four to six hour job for a non-pro.
This video is lacking. No valve adjustment, and nothing properly torqued.
Not sure about ‘10 minutes’ ... and Silicone !!!!!! Nooooo !
Quick, not properly cleaned with attention to detail.
