  • I’m Mel and this is my running weight loss transformation. A few months ago, I was given the chance to be a part of the very first test group for the brand new Freeletics Running app ►►► www.frltcs.com/...
    This video shows what happened in the first 3 months training with the app and the Coach. I hope I can motivate some of you to make a change if you’re not happy with yourself. :) If you want to try Freeletics Running like me, download the app or look at the website.
    I used to be very fit (I played handball, did gymnastics and also Crossfit) but when I started my own business I had to put my work first for a year. This meant I gained 13kg (almost 29lbs). After I realised how much I had let myself go and how self-conscious and unhappy I was, I decided to make a change.
    Running wasn’t my favourite sport, but I did it anyway and I got used to running the sprint workouts and longer distances. I followed the instructions my Running Coach gave me in the app and trained 3 - 4 times a week, alone and in a small group. In all weathers.
    The hard work was worth it. In 3 months I lost 9kg (almost 20lbs) and got my old confidence back. I even fell in love with running! I still train with the app - I would miss it if I stopped. And now I want to add bodyweight and gym training - not because I have to, but because I like the challenge :)
    I can safely say that it works. The hard work is worth it. You don’t have to be afraid of running. Get some friends and start. You won’t regret it and it could change your life!
    Now you can read my whole story here: blog.freeletic...
    I hope I can give you some motivation to work for your goals!
    Mel

    I am 190 I always been 145 my whole life at one point lower than that I've gained over 50 lbs in the last 4 years and now that I am engaged I am wanting more to be healthy again. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx5VQ5nUzHu6i0O5_u7ipyLnCz0lbsSvr0 I am not fat but I am thick and have muscle. I am very close to how you were but a lil smaller but I am so sick people making comments to me like I'm huge or like you said having shorts that used to be so cute on me and now I can't even find a pair to fit me. I used to love shopping now I don't even want to go to the store and if I do I pick the biggest size don't even try it on and deal with it. I went from size 5 to size idk because I don't even want to know the real number. I hate looking at pics of myself now or me before. thank you for your video it's time to make a change.

    *I Weighed 310 at my highest and 190 and my lowest (lost 120lbs! within 6 months) I had saggy bingo arms tho they werent even bad, **weightlose.fitness** i just lacked muscle and didnt work out. and could easily be toned by working out, which i have been doing and ive seen great results quick. I do have a lil extra pudge on my stomach and plenty of stretchmarks which have faded. Strength training is the best way to go for faster results, better results, and you'll love going to the gym more than if you were to do cardio alone. Do not worry about sagging skin - deal with it when you get there because you'll be way happier at your goal weight with some extra skin compared to where you begin!*

    I am pretty young. I have been overweight my entire life due to hypothyroidism. They told me I could not run because of my developing lung cancer, underdeveloped lungs, asthma, vocal chord dysfunctia, and other physical lung issues. They told me I could not heal. They said I can take meds, eat a proper diet, and be fine.
    Then I stopped listening.
    I started off slow, taking walking breaks when I ran a mile each day. I stopped walking and added distance. I wasn't fast and it hurt like hell, I couldn't breathe at all. But I kept training. On my own. All on my fucking own because no one believed in me except for, well, me.
    One mile turned to two and two turned to four.
    I joined cross country. Track. Despite warnings and shunning on how I should watch out for my health, how I could die doing this.
    I lost about 40 pounds, and gained all that in confidence.
    God it feels good to flip off the world and be my team captain doing it.

      Come on, it's just a "dislike" , there are more important things to worry about in this world such as violence, poverty, abortion, etc. Worrying about a "dislike" on some internet video it's just an example of "first world problems"...

      If people failed to recognize success and even dislikes other people success how do you expect them understand what is bad from poverty XD violence and abortion?

    UPDATED
    September 2018
    last month, I started my running right after I see this video. it's my 5th week already and I can't even believe it is.. I run 5 times a week plus trying to eat healthier.. surprisingly I've lost 5kg from 66 to 61in 5 weeks :'D and I want more, I'm gonna try to reach 55 for the next two months.. watching this video just motivate me again and again
    Oct-Nov 2018
    update: I've lost 10kg about a month ago, now im 56 and never been more confident, fyi i do not continue the run since i have to do alot of things, I don't even watch what I eat, and I'm not gaining any weight over the past month. Running is totally worth it, I might will continue to run at new year to reach 50 :D
    Nov 2020
    update 2: hi guys it’s been 2 years since I started running.. I’m 23 this year.. my weight is now stable at 57-59, I still continue my run but not as intense as the first time I start it. I change my mindset from losing weight to be healthy because when I run to lose weight, it makes me kinda stressful.. but then I realize, It’s harder to maintain my weight than losing it.. therefore changing my mindset for healthier body and mind really helps me to maintain my weight😊.
    I just wanna say thank you for your responses, I’m so happy reading all of your comments and seeing you guys get motivated by this. Hope you found your own way to love your body and yourself😊 God bless you!

It opens my mind that none of us have the same body :D

    I’ve been running for 3 months and been getting stronger and faster and getting up the hills quicker - it is JUST now I see my body has changed. It takes a consistent 3 months to get it but when the shape starts coming it’s addictive and gives you more motivation. I can see how easy it is to stop after a month because the muscle build up makes you weigh more and feel heavier and it bulks you out but work through it to the 3 month mark and it’s soon payback time 👍

    For beginners try to walk 2-3 km daily for a week, slowly gain speed and try to go for 3km this will boost your confidence. Set goals short term goals that you will achieve in about 2 month. You will be running 5 km in about 3 months and also the most important part are shoes that you use during run buy decent light weight running shoes and do plank after each run and eat protein no carbs at night voila you will get up with new determination to achieve you goal every week that too naturally also keep cheat meal between so you are not cut off from your cravings.

    Thanks for the motivation 😀 I've been running for 20 days now ! On day one I could barely run for 30 seconds. It was so hard :( but the past three days I've been running 6 kilometers non stop which is still a bit shocking to me. So far I've lost 2.5 Kgs without doing anything to my diet. I'll try and eat healthy this coming week and see how it goes ! If you happen to read this, I hope you have a nice day ! 😃

    Running really does make a huge difference ! Once I started getting into it my body seemed to transform. Running works out your whole body, so you can really feel it everywhere after going for a run (legs, arms, abs). I started getting super lean and toned. I was NEVER a runner and was always so bad at it. I signed up for a 5k to motivate myself to stick with it and have stayed with it ever since, periodically doing races to keep myself motivated. It has done more for me than the elliptical and weight machines ever did. You just feel so strong and good about yourself after finishing a run, I love it!

    People that's reading this.. We humans are made to be active every single day in our lives, that's what the bodies we have been given is made for. 3 months is nothing compared to what you can accomplish. I started fitness training 5 years ago like it's nothing. What makes people start grinding for years is to forget about unhealthy food and snacks etc. If that's something you're desperate of eating atleast once a week and not willing to stop it while you're about to start your grind. Then there is just a matter of time until your brain mentally will tell you to stop. If you're reading this yet still.. How bad do you want it?

    • @RealTalkWithSSG
      @RealTalkWithSSG 7 років тому +32

      Exactly! The human body is engineered to be active and flexible, as proven by our bones and muscles. We are meant to move about and not be sedentary. We are just like iron, if we just sit and do nothing, we will rust; that can only be prevented by regular exercise. Our ideal body type is the one our hunter gatherer ancestors had, not the big bellied idiots that existed post industrial revolution. We never see an overweight tiger or lion, do we? It's the processed shit and sedentary work life that's killing us. We don't even need gyms, just a park and lots of greenery, that's enough. :)

    Back in 2013 I was running 5k’s 5-6 times a week, I tried to eat healthy but still indulged a few times a week. I went from 165lbs to 142lbs in a few months!!
    Before I took on running, I used to focus on weight training with very little cardio. And had trouble losing weight despite eating a clean diet, high in protein. I felt discouraged because my weight wouldn’t budge. Running helped me lose all that stubborn weight!

      i'm 13 years old and i used to be really skinny and confident but i stopped dancing about a couple of months ago and i gained about 30 pounds, i started out as 147lbs and i wanted to lose about 15 lbs so i started jogging every day and eating healthy i didn't diet or use any product. it's been about 4 weeks and i've lost 6 lbs and i am stronger than i was before. i know everyone says eat healthy and exercise but it is actually the truth. just eat proper nutrition and exercise at least 30 minutes a day preferably cardio and you'll achieve your goal! good luck!

      @Laurynski 7 років тому +6

      Yes, clean up your diet by eliminating unnecessary sugar such as soda and juice, junk food like chips and candy, and fast food like McDonald's and Wendy's. I remember when I was 15 they had the vending machines located in the hallways of my high school right by the lockers. This would enable me to grab something quick but unhealthy and ultimately became my downfall. I would suggest maybe packing your own healthy snacks throughout the day and storing them in a lunchbox with an ice pack and placing it in your locker. There is also an app that might help you become more conscious of your food choices that you can download on your phone called MyFitnessPal. It helps you track the foods you consume throughout the day which helps you target your weight loss goals.
      In addition it is important to remember that for maximum weight loss results, diet and exercise are a marriage. So you should incorporate exercise into your routine. You can join a sports team at school such as soccer or volleyball, or walk with friends to school instead of getting a ride or taking the bus, or join a gym with some friends and take some classes (yoga, Zumba, aerobic) together that the gym offers 4-5x a wk. Remember you are 15 so the good news is you are still young and your metabolism will increase rapidly and naturally because of your age. This is also the time to train your body and mind for the future and teach yourself healthy eating habits that will stick with you into adulthood and the rest of your life. Your are a couple years away from college and if you adapt a healthy lifestyle now, you won't have any worries about gaining the freshman 15 or depending on yourself for your health when you enter university. Good luck young friend. 😊

    This video is mainly an advertisement for the app, however i do agree it is motivational and can entice many to start becoming healthier. However i don't think its informative.
    A transformation on that scale would require nutritional and physical coaching, and from what I've read in the description, the app doesn't provide this, and if it does, its probably in very little detail. After all i do believe its 70% diet and 30% exercise.

    i started running before seeing this video. It was hard, really really hard in the beginnig because keeping it going for days is not easy for newbie. But it gets better, i am better. I'm on the week 4 and i'm really proud of myself for not giving up and give me a chance to experience new things while running. I weighed about 74kg and now 70kg. And i did not run that long. First day was 3 minutes straight and then 4, 5, 6 and now i can run 12 minutes straight non-stop and alternate between walking and running about 6minutes more. I didn't think i could run 6 minutes straight but now i feel like i can do a 5K already LOL. Anyways, when you're about to start running, working out... don't think of anything, because those thoughts might be excuses of not running for some reasons and it will hold you down, not let you to even start. That's what i've learned these days running 6days per week. I hope you do it. Doesn't matter what pace, fast or slow, what matters is that you keep running constantly day by day. And that is just MY lesson i've got from running. Everyone has different experiences. I hope you enjoy your day, and get better.

    I really would start, it's been 3 week since I thought I wanted to do this. Run. Loose my extra pounds... But I can't... I'm embarrassed to run in front of everyone, whoever can see me and think of everything. Yes, it's that the problem, I think to much of whats others think, I just can't. I always wanted a perfect body, like every teenager have, and I have not... I'm not obese I'm just a little overweight, but I don't like myself, not in this body, I want a good body.
    Every boy when see me seems interested of me, I don't know why maybe because I have a pretty face I don't know, he smile to me but then see clearly my legs, for example, with too fat on... and look away from me...

      Lola Frik
      Hello Dear,
      You judge yourself far too harshly and way overthink what other people "might be thinking". Most people are lost in their heads thinking of their lists of things to do and their own dramas. If any of them might look outside their own thoughts and see you running, they might admire you for your goal setting and persistence. Take a chance and take care of you.
      As for men, they probably are attracted to you beauty, but your fearful self judgement is very clear. I hope you finally appreciate yourself and the lovely person you really are and find peace and comfort with yourself. Accepting yourself is the first step in loving yourself. Leo Buscaglia is a great love teacher; highly recommended!! 🙏💜🌈💓

      The music is 20% of the running experience when you doing this on a daily basis. When you pass through the first year then everything is the same, every day is the same day. I'am running in the best place ever, I wouldn't change it (It starts from the park and jumps in to the wood) There are and other runners (girls too) but here people are not pleasant generally (like USA for example i guess, where everybody say HI to everybody). So I started about 6 months ago with exercise, the diet started coming right but it was slow so I signed up with a dietician who has been awesome at helping me build a sustainable lifestyle (says the woman who has a weigh in today and knows that pizza was a bad idea but anyway). I've been very open about it with colleagues as we eat together a lot and I've had to adjust what I order.
    Anyway yesterday I was wearing a new shirt and it looked good and a bunch of people have me compliments which was awesome at first but started getting awkward (no, I'm not going to spin so you can check out my butt, really?) When one of the super seniors called me in to his office, sat me down and had a very serious conversation with me about the fact that I'm clearly losing weight, and he thinks it's stress related. So is everything ok at work? Is there anything he can help with so this stops happening?
    I explained as well as I could that I'm doing this on purpose, and beat a hasty retreat. Still don't think he believes me!

      Let me share with You My experience with the fitness world. Believe me or not you can make your on research. Running is good for many things but is not the most functional thing to do if you want lo lose fatty mass. Low intensity exercise keep you in a state where you use mostly fat as a source of energy but it is LOW intensity. you will need long long sessions to burn some noticeable amount of fat and by doing that you risk to use also part of your muscle mass. less mascle mass means less kcal burned. If you are a girl and you don't want to build excessive lean mass or you simply don't like weight training, try something like crossfit (basically HIIT, Google it). High intensity make you burn kcal much faster. even tho the fat burning ratio is lower the amount of time it takes is significantly lower plus, with the right exercises it give your muscles some stimulus. If you want to lose weight and stay lean for the rest of your life (dieting is not everything. You have to make a life long commitment, a 3 month with a very low kcal diet will only harm you, make small changes that you can keep following for ever) you HAVE TO keep as much muscle as you can
      do some research about this subject if you don't believe me. try on Google or also here on UA-cam. type "weight training vs cardio for losing weight" or "cardio vs HIIT for losing weight"
      ps - change gym.

    • @PhuongTran-bq2qy
      @PhuongTran-bq2qy 8 років тому +6

      Running is good for you too. You should include more protein in your diet as well. Avoid exercises that could make you lose muscle like HIIT or cardio. Exercises like running or weight lifting can help build muscle (but for weight lifting, you should consult a coach to fix your posture or else it is very easy to injure yourself or make bulk muscle like a man which is not so appealing). Muscle weighs more than fat, so naturally when you lose fat but build muscle, you will not lose weight.

    • @RealTalkWithSSG
      @RealTalkWithSSG 7 років тому

      HIIT is fine as long as you are eating a balanced diet and doing bodyweight exercises side by side. Simply doing cardio(constant running, jogging, sprinting) will not make you look shapely, you will only look like a thinner version of your chubby/fat counterpart. :D

      2 weeks is not enough time for your body to change. Plus. Just feel how you feel on the inside! That's. Way. More. Important. Forget the mirror and the scale. Just feel it out. Do more weight lifting with it, try different kinds of exercising. Eat healthy. Forget what you see. Trust me. The results will come with time. Just take a break from the scale and from your image. Do what is right for your body, what is right for your mind.

    When I was way younger (about 14 years old) I used to run 4 days a week. That was the good part. However, I also had an eating disorder and starved myself. I lost too much weight in too little of a time. Then I started high school. I stopped running, and started stress eating. Gained all the weight back plus 20. Now I'm overweight and struggle to gain motivation. Videos like these really do motivate me and hopefully I'll try to start soon.
