I literally just came back from running and I just want to say: if you’re worried that people are going to look at you, just wake up at 5-6-7 am and do the jogging then. I’ve done my first ever jog at 6am today, I didn’t see a single soul- except a cute snail I named Tony.
Well, at the track I go to, it’s mostly just a bunch of severely overweight people walking, so I feel like I’m always in the top 95% even if I can only manage to jog like 0.5 miles. That’s one strategy to use if you’re self conscious about your pace. Then again, I think most runners/joggers are not judgmental towards others making an effort. For example, I am happy that the obese guy I lapped four times over one mile is out there walking because it means that he is making a very good effort to be healthier and improve. That’s what matter most; improvement relative to yourself, not relative to other people.
@@druidzz I have asthma too. When I started doing more high intensity workouts, I asked me doctor about it and they adjusted my meds :) Plenty of professional athletes have asthma. You can do it!
Hell yeah, love this tip. I used to do cross country and long distance track in middle/high school and that's exactly what you would do at the end of a race - finish strong. Now in my 20s, I'll really push myself to sprint at the end of my run to give myself that high of finishing a race, even if I'm just running alone on a treadmill. That feeling of accomplishment puts a huge smile on my face!
Black182heart, yes & no. Like you said more incompetent beginners however trail running is far better on the joints than what road running is, often trails are uneven in other areas. If you suffer joint pain and want to run then trail running offers you a platform to do so within some extent, or atleast far more friendly than road
Black182heart well you don’t run a great deal, 2k. 10 minutes at most... ask pro runners, the best in the world... all train on trails. Not hard to use your eyes to avoid potential hazards
My problem is that I think too much. I'll start thinking about my breathing, how my body is moving, the distance, my chest etc...then I end up feeling overwhelmed and quit.
If it helps any, what I do is focus on posture and breathing in the nose and out the mouth. Even if I'm just walking fast it helps me lose focus of time and distance.
At my school we run around the block right by it and there's this rich family with a bunch of pretty and annoying dogs in a fence, Those things drive me further than i could ever go otherwise 😂
When you start out jogging, your chest will feel like it will explode, ignore the pain and your second wind will come, after that it will get easier. The beginning stages will be the hardest.
Yeah for real when I started running when I was young the burning of the chest... yeah. Now it’s just the burning of my legs these days lol never quit!
But what if when I run for awhile my gut starts feelin like as if I just had some sketchy food. . .? It's been happening for years should I see a doctor? Anyone else get this? I love running but this shit is terrible.
My motivation is I pretend I'm training to become stronger so I can save my family that has been held hostage or I'm training for the Arena like in the Hunger Games
The 3 things that enabled me to massively improve my running capability were the following: 1) SLOW DOWN!!! I was running way too fast, which was exhausting me very early. I've found that they best way to go is to start slower, and naturally increase pace as you go along if you wish. I know that sounds strange but it seems to be the case for me 2) Get a better technique. This is very important too. With the correct technique (as shown in this video) you seem to just go faster with far less effort. Its amazing! 3) Eat healthier Sounds cliche but Ive stopped eating sweat treats (biscuits, cakes... I still have honey and a bit of sugar though) and drinking caffeine. (I highly doubt the caffeine has had any effect on my running but the cutting down on sugar certainly has because I no longer get acid reflux while running. I have still got a bit of a problem with rib and shoulder pain that I haven't found a solution to yet but running with a good posture has definitely prolonged the pain until near the end of my run. This may not work for you but I just thought it may be a useful read. Thanks for reading!
Do 200’s full sprint with 30 second rest in between each one. It will have you dead and it will really challenge your mental self but it helps improve sprinting and breathing
I found, that varying between walking and running can help to increase the maximum distance by a lot. By then decreasing the amount of walking little by little, you will find, that you soon will run distances, you never imagined before.
I love running, it makes me feel free especially when listening to music. If anyone is anxious or self conscious about being seen, please try and remember that you’re doing it for yourself not to please strangers you’ll never see again.
I started running in 2010 because I watched King Kong and the way the characters tore through the jungle when the giant bugs started chasing them seemed like a very practical real-life skill to have.
My tips ! 1. Get a gooooood playlist going! When I’m really into my music I always find my runs are usually longer and faster 2. Find your time of day. I’m personally not a really early morning person or evening person, my best runs are mid morning 3. Get lost in your thoughts! Sometimes when I’m thinking about other things I forget I’m even running and a mile can go by before I think about running again 4. When you really start to tire out and are having a hard time, concentrate really hard on normalizing your breathing :)
Remember: we are always our worst critics. People couldn't care less about how you run/how sweaty you look. Using shyness as a reason to not go out for a run is merely an excuse to stay lazy. And if you happen to notice someone looking at you weird - and you don't know them - just stick up your middle finger and smile! At least one of you is moving their legs.
My tips are as follows: 1) Never ever wait for the trainer or running mate. Just put on the shoes and run. 2) Ensure you drink lots of water after running. You have just lost water through sweating. 3) Do not over-plan your route too much it ruins the adventure and excitement of running. 4) Do not be bothered by what people think especially runners who are beginners and have a large body. Congratulate yourself because it shows you care about your life. 5) Give the body a day or two to recover. 6) Within a few days of running, you will immediately feel younger and better as the body restores your biological age. My waist pains, IBS, shoulder pains left immediately when I started running. 7) Running extra miles will boost your esteem and confidence and this can be applied to other areas of your life. 8) People like to say they are "too busy" to run. What if you made all that money and died of high blood pressure?
YES!! I used to be a cross country truck driver making $60,000 a year! But then I got sick. Lack of exercise and extremely bad eating habits come with the job. Started gaining weight like crazy. My skin was looking dull. Vision problems. Bloating. Skin rashes from leaky gut toxins. There a came a point where I couldn't eat anything sweet because a couple minutes after, my blood sugar spiked and then tanked. I started trembling and felt like I was going to have a panic attack. Probably not a good thing considering i'm driving an 80,000lbs vehicle. So I quit my job and started working to reverse everything. 2 in a half months after quitting, I lost 13lbs, I got rid of the rashes, I no longer get sugar spike/drops, vision is excellent .. of course I did a lot more than just running to reverse this. The point is all the money in the world isn't worth screwing your health over. Luckily tho, I made a little savings to I can go a couple months jobless :)
Bina R - Sure. It wasn’t easy. First thing I did was a water fast for 3 days. Then, I got on a candida diet for a month and a half. It’s an extremely strict diet you can find the details on UA-cam. All I ate was tuna, salmon, chicken, and quinoa rice. And for supplements I took: Vitamin D3, vitamin K2, L-Glutamine, digestive enzymes, pro and prebiotics, oregano oil, Apple cider vinegar, bone broth, liquid chlorophyll , only drank distilled water and I also sweated a lot. Had to sweat out the toxins. Since I did this in the middle of winter, I couldn’t go out and run. So I grabbed a soccer ball and juggled it in my garage. You’d be surprised how good of a cardio work out that is. That’s pretty much everything I did.
This. The mental side is where I've found I shine the most. My pace isn't the fastest and I can't run the furthest, but mentally I push through what would stop me
It definitely is a mental battle! I almost took the same route but i wanted to push myself to go further and it was a success ive never felt so much better =)
As someone in the Army, I frequently run. When I first went to basic it was very tough. I was running a 22 1/2 minute two mile. However, due to basic training and literally being forced to run for 10 weeks straight, I was able to run 2 miles in 17 minutes. A year and a half later, I still struggle with running but I realized that's part of it. It's not easy especially seeing improvement. It takes time, dedication, and motivation. You have to really stick to it. Now I can run 2 miles in 15 minutes. There will be heavy breathing. You aren't resting when you're actively running. The trick is to control your breathing. I typically breathe with my steps. 3 steps breathing in, 2 steps breathing out. Also, the way your foot hits the ground is important. Do not strike your heel on the ground first. Should be pretty flat footed, almost toes first. This will help maintain your forward momentum. Do not run every single day. You will hurt yourself. Every other day works just fine. It's tough and first I thought I would never see improvement. Here I am proving myself wrong and you can too. Just don't quit. Period.
same lmaooo like I’ll be about to start walking cause I’m getting tired and I’ll see a bunch of cars coming and think ok you gotta keep running till they pass or they will know you suck at this and it will be embarsssing. works everytime thooo
Tip 1. Get some good music to drown out yr breathing, if u can’t hear yrself breathing u can go on further. Tip 2. When starting out, if you are out on a run then at least yr not sitting on the couch. Achievement 1 done. Tip 3. Most people will be jealous that you are out running when they see you as they drive past in the car. Tip 4. Take each day as it comes, everyone has a bad run, but it is another one in the bank.
I hate running out in public where people can see me, it feels so awkward and when they like say hi I sound like a dying whale when I try and say hi back🤣
For beginners. -Get a good quality sleep -You must learn proper warm-up and stretches before and after your run for your body to avoid injuries and unnecessary pain... - before running i only drink half cup of coffee, it boost my energy and make me feel alive i guess. -before u run or jog make sure to start walking with maybe 10m walking or whenever u feel ir ready -dont lean ur body forward, keep it straight. -on ur first minute, try to breath only thru ur nose. -if ever ur exhausted dont open ur mouth too much while breathing.. -breath deep, and exhale slowly. -dont think that u are tired. Dont look down, always forward and keep motivating urself while running. -good music helps too. ...sorri im not quite confident on my english. These things helps me a lot avoiding injuries and running longer on the track. God bless. Keep healthy 🤘
Also, their are two types of stretching DYNAMIC stretching (movement based) and STATIC stretching (stationary based). You only do dynamic stretching before a run while the static stretching is after a run.
This might sound stupid but it actually helped me a lot : When I feel really unmotivated and tired and already know this session is not gonna be good, I tell myself that every single step I take would be better than staying home doing nothing. Even if I just go out for a walk. And most of the time, I still end up running and doing a lot more than what I had anticipated!
I felt the same way when I started so I chose a local trail to start where there were very little people around. Now I’m good and I don’t care what others think (I actually have caught myself singing out loud while I’m running) because I know I’m doing something to better myself and that’s good for me physically and emotionally. Nothing feels better than when you set a goal for yourself and complete it. Run girl run!
Trust me on this: nobody cares. Truly. When you see runners on the road where you are, how much time do you dedicate to making fun of them in your head? Probably not at all (unless you're a pretty garbage person, at which case I would encourage you to reevaluate some personal stuff). That's how it is when people see you run too! Truly, nobody cares. In fact, people might be inspired seeing you out there. When I always see a runner when I'm driving somewhere, I just think "man, they're awesome, I wish I could be out there right now too!"
Same here. I just moved to a house with a big park in front and thought about jogging for the first time in my life. It helped to stake it out and watch a few other people doing it first. I've just started doing a few laps around it, as early as I can in the morning when there aren't too many people. My partner came with me, so that helped. We alternated between walking and running as I've realised it's much harder than I thought! I think in these situations, most people are just doing their own thing and it's only in our head that we think that people are watching - truth is, and this sounds harsh but it's helpful: we just aren't that interesting! ;-) As for the minority of people who might take an interest and feel the need to be mean - it's their problem and no decent person would ever want to give you a hard time for doing something to help yourself. It would speak volumes more about the naysayer than it would about you. Go for it!
It's a completely different thing when you live in a subdivision, are a girl and have social anxiety. I've tried not to, but I always get anxious when I see people in the road ahead of me, or even thinking about people seeing me, especially if they're male. It sucks, and it's hard, so I instead go walking with my brother. One day I'll just wake up at unholy hours to run, that way I won't have to struggle with people. Anyway, thanks for your advice! I'm planning to try running soon, so I hope it all turns out okay.
I know it's a lot easier said than done, but the thing that helps me the most is knowing that literally *nobody* cares about you. I live in a subdivision as well, and I'm surrounded by people who could watch me constantly. I used to be so ashamed of running, I used to think that everyone who could see me was making fun of me... but then I realized that when I see a fellow runner, I'm never thinking about them. I never make fun of them. When I pass them, I honestly forget about them within about 30 seconds. The same is true for you, too! When you run, you're anonymous, and nobody cares about you. I hope this helps, because you can do it! ❤️❤️❤️
hi, it's been almost a year since you commented this and idk if you started running or gave up on the idea but wanted to encourage you anyway. I live in a big, metropolitan city. but my neighborhood is such an underground, so most people dont even run. let alone, most women also dont run. and to even add furthermore, women who're like me (who wear a hijab for religional purposes) also dont run. and everytime when I go out for a run, everyone looks at me with a shocked expression on their faces. I even had two men making fun of me while they were passing by with their motorcycles (what a jerk), SO MY POINT IS: DO NOT GIVE A SINGLE FUCK ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT YOU. they always say shit, they always criticize you and us but don't even put up the effort & time that you're putting. just focus on yourself, ignore them. whenever i feel like people are watching me, i just look at the sky, or the sea if i'm running by the beach, or the trees. distract yourself, do not even look at their stupid faces.
The most important advice on running I found in one book and follow since then: No matter what gear you have (or don’t have), no matter what results you’ve achieved, no matter how you look while running. Just run in the way that makes you feel good about it. If you feel tired - take a rest. If you feel energetic - run more. You will just love it and want to run again and again.
@@jasmintea8825 why? I don't run but when I do, i'm telling you I don't feel bad. I only feel bad when I'm super tired. If I had a private place to run i'd do it a little bit at a time.
No one feels like pushing themselves to work harder. You may want to, but your body still isn't inclined to. You eventually have to sacrifice your feelings for hard work if you want to be successful. So it's not all sunshine and rainbows and running however you want all the time. That's how to *feel good.* But to be successful and progressive, you need to make sacrifices.
@@dylantherunner5841 honestly sometimes pushing yourself to go harder when you dont want to is really how you feel *good*. you know what i mean? like after you've been pushing yourself to go farther and farther even though your mind is telling you to stop because "this sucks and im out of breath", thats when those endorphins really kick in and after that you feel great.
Here’s my tip: When running, think to yourself, “am I going to be able to run tomorrow if I keep going this fast?” You might feel good during the run but then not be able to move the next day. Happy running everyone!!
Stretch before you run BREATHE Workout in the right clothes Practice makes better Take breaks when needed Set a goal like, “I’m going to run for 5 minutes without stopping” Start small Everybody is different I started running when I was around third grade age and these all helped me. Just remember, it won’t happen overnight, or throughout the course of only one jog. Hope this helped. ❤️ -A huge fan of running
@@its.ricobico Hi, that is called shin splints and is common in runners. Don't push yourself and ice it if it hurts. Consider running on softer surfaces. To avoid it, flex and point your feet as a stretch and there are also a few other stretches you can do. Here is my favorite: Sit on something and place your feet flat on the floor. Then lift your toes, keeping your heel on the floor. "Tap" the floor three times, and then hold your toes off the floor for a few seconds -still keeping your heel on the floor-. Repeat a few times. The best part is you can do it on a car ride, and practically anywhere. Hope this helped!
The thing I knew BEFORE I started regular runs was :start with WALKING. pick a distance that challenges YOU , then once it no longer challenges you , start running from the half point , and so on. Muscle and respiratory condition are the keys. So build them gradually and you will be fine.
*Tip of the day:* *If your getting chased by a dog, you don’t have to be the fastest, just gotta be faster than at least 1 of your friends.* (Btw, if your the only one getting chased by a dog, your screwed. Might wanna consider being the fastest in that situation.)
@@celticknight8809 , bruuh.. If the serial killer is psychopath with the same personality as mine, then the guy who is running more is the guy who is gonna die. Because if he values is life so much to live all friends behind, then it will be that much more pleasuring to see him notice he is actually the one who is being followed, and is death will be the more unenthusiastic. Of course I'm talking just whit the knowledge I read in a book. I would never actually do something similar. 😇😏
I am 56, semi-retired, so I have time to walk everyday. Yesterday I started jogging. Today I was able to go 1/8 of a mile without having to stop. With your tips hope I can keep improving
@@franklinbrooks7857 Do NOT use converse to run in. Those are the worst shoes you could wear to do cardio/exercise in. Converse aren't even good for your feet in general.
I was so fat with so much of oily skin and pimples 2 years ago and I hated exercise and running,, but one day,, I saw a boy in the market,, he was begging money for food and I was shocked when I saw that he didn't had both legs,, I was so depressed about him and sad,, he was at same age as me,, then I realized how lucky I am that I have a perfect body with all parts.. then I decided I will exercise and now after 2 years,, I have six packs with a perfect clean face without any pimples and oily skin,, thank you for that boy, because he was the one who openedy eyes,, but sad i never saw that boy after that day again..😔😌
You know what's interesting about that? I used to stretch religiously before my runs, but I have ridiculously weak ankles (always have), and I noticed that when I stretched beforehand, I'd be more prone to rolling them during my runs. So now I just warm up with a brisk walk before I actually start running, which I love! Definitely like stretching afterwards though, for sure.
I guess everyone's body has what works for them see my lower legs get super tight if I don't stretch and my shoulders get right if I don't stretch my upper body a bit before a run. Your tips were super helpful though and I really enjoyed the video!
Yes, before and after workout. If I don't stretch properly I'll get a small strain or pain in the knees, ankles or in some muscles of the leg during the running session. I guess it depends on each of us, but I've never heard that stretching before could cause an injury.
Oh yes!! Combine Yoga with running - gives You stability, strength as well as muscle relaxation:) AND: I can recommend to find something like a short city run that you are motivated to join because nice people you know are joining it too (ideally of course you can also prepare and train together).
What a great video! I started running last year and have done nothing but beat myself up and constantly compare myself to others. The greatest learning for me is to focus on yourself - some days I can do that better than others. I've shed so many tears and beaten myself up, but I hope to realise one day that running is unique for everyone and we are all on our own journey
I have asthma and was always on the chubbier side. (Im 16) and one year ago i lost 20kg (44pounds) in 2 months, only by changing my diet. Then, a few months ago, even though I have asthma I decided to start running. It was very hard in the begining, because I havent ever exercised in my life, and due to asthma, but now, a few months later, I can run about 9km in 40minutes, and I think it is a great improvement in just 2-3 months, and I am excited to see what I can do next and how I can be even better. Also, your videos has really helped me, so thank you. Also, sorry if my english is not perfect, it is not my first language.
@@Lemonrose89 I just take my inhaler before my run and with me just in case u might work ur self out a bit to much do speed bursts run 300m quick then jog to catch ur breath for 20 to 45 sec then repeat and do it it to what distance u choose do this every day for 8 months and the change is just shocking by the end u could run a 1 mile and be just a little out of breath but it's just how much u want it I mean by that what was the reason why you started running
I feel you, right now I either put on a hat and violently ignore people, or pretend that my friends are backing me up if anyone sends a judgmental stare
I really don't run that often and am usually insecure about the fact that I'm out of breath/ shape, and feel like people are judging me, but it occurred to me that they have no idea how long I've actually been running, like for all they know I'm just rounding out mile 10 (instead of being like 6 blocks from my apartment). Whenever I see other people working out that are really sweaty and out of breath I never think "wow what a loser they must be so out of shape" I think "oh dang they must be training really hard."
So I just tried that zombie run game (45 min session) around my big neighborhood park and let me say, amazing motivation but holy hell was I scared when I was running near wooded areas and the zombies started chasing me xD I highly recommend, just maybe dont listen to it on full volume (:
@@foodlover0931 it's actually what I started running to I highly suggest it I still use it to this day and if you don't have WiFi you can actually download the missions
But oh my god it was too quick for me. I would always get too out of breath and then it would say zomBieS aRe CoMinG and I’d be like na just get me I can’t go on
Great running tips, Caty! Thanks for sharing :) In addition to running shoes, I'd also suggest picking up some good running socks. When I first started out running regularly I'd just wear the first socks that came to hand, and the blisters sucked! Good socks felt like a luxury purchase at the time, but made ALL the difference.
Yes! Completely agree! Socks are something I never really thought about, but you're absolutely right, those blisters... man, I don't miss them haha. Something that is light and minimizes friction is amazing in helping your run!
And frankly I don't think you need super luxury socks either. I bought running socks from Decathlon for like 2-3 euro a pair and they're honestly good enough.
I'm curious about this . . . what kind of socks were they? Bc I bought nike running socks and I still have blisters. And yes I'm aware this comment was 11 months ago so I may not get a response lol
Quit smoking cold Turkey 10 days ago and started jogging every morning for 4 days in a row now. Never felt better! 😊 Edit: I am now 2 months clean! I workout 5x a week and jog each and every day. I'm close to running my first 5k (3.5km without rest). Thank you everyone whose liked and commented. You guys really motivate me. 😁 Edit 2: it's July 31/19 and I'm still tobacco/nicotine free (for those wondering how I am doing). And don't worry, I'm never touching a cigarette again. :) It was a hell of a journey (and still is!) I hit my first 5k about a month ago, which was my goal. I'm now more heavily focused on resistance training but I'll still do cardio once a week. To those who are trying to quit smoking as well, you can definitely achieve it! For me, my goal was to run 5k without rest and I know for a fact if I smoked it would have hindered my progress to achieve my goal. So with that mindset it allowed me to stay focused and consistent with my workout. Everytime I got tired it was a reminder of what I did to my lungs and I'd use that exhaustion to push myself each day. And wow I've never had so many likes and comments on a UA-cam video before. Thank you everyone! I hope I have inspired you on your fitness journey. 💪☺️
@@Anthony.462 I needed to hear that... was going to skip jogging today - I've been telling myself tomorrow for the past 2 days. But I'm still 12 days strong without a cigarette.
I think I have asthma but I have not been officially diagnosed. I always end up not being able to breath an abnormal amount afterwards and I cough a lot afterwards😬
6 tips I have personally for runners! I've been running daily since 2005, when within a six month period I shed close to 50 pounds! 1. Start low and local with a four corner street block. Warm up with a walking mile, run the second mile, cool down third mile, Sprint or run as fast as you can last mile, cool down by walking half a street block. Walk into a gas station at your finish and engorge on water! Three months later, jog the full four corner block for a 4 mile constant run. A year later, do this block twice, changing direction on the fourth mile, to run in opposite direction for an 8 mile run. You always need to run in an opposite direction after each four miles to put equal stress on your joints, rather than straining just one half. Once you run 8 miles a day, kiss your health problems goodbye, you will feel so alive and energetic, the runners high will make you feel ready to conquer any challenge in your day. 2. Listen to music that motivates you to dance or be energetic, these beats will help you forget the stress involved in the demanding activity. I suggest Tiesto's, "In Search of Sunrise 1." Has the perfect tempo for an hour long run. 3. Don't drink too much water or eat minutes before a run, it will water bog you and cause you to stop or want to barf. I suggest eating nothing four hours before a run and drinking only an hour before starting the exercise. 4. Pull your shoelaces and tie them supertight on your shoes, so much so that it feels like it's hurting your feet, the friction of your running will loosen the bond, yet allow a more controlled run without risk of injury. 5. Don't attempt to run 8 miles a day without eating a high calorie diet with sufficent hydration. 6. Run between 45-75 minutes a day to gain any substantial benefits from the exercise. For me personally, I have to run for at least 45 minutes to get any effect. Running is probably one of the greatest and most beneficial exercises for the health.
I think it more amazing I was able to keep the habit of running for over a decade, some people lose interest in the activity years in. It's always good to change up runs, when the body adapts to the same miles everyday, ie, sprinting last mile one day, then the next don't sprint, or sprinting mile 5. It's not good to exceed 8 miles a day running, though, I found that out the hard way, unless you can run 10 miles in an hour. A runner will suffer from fatigue, soreness, and risk injury if they run over an hour and 30 minutes each day.
PseudoSarcasm THAT is something I wish somebody told me. When you go running frequently and long distance the inside of your thighs and your nipples and your feet will get sore and blistered. I was kind of disappointed that this video didn't touch on what to wear and what to do to protect yourself from it.
My tip would be compression clothing. Get a compression shirt and compression shorts. Under Armour is working really good for me. I personally wear normal shorts over the compression short. I run 200km per month and don't get sore.
I lost 15 lbs from running. And I don’t have to pay for a gym membership. Which is nice. I agree with pacing. Definitely have a good pace that works for you, especially when it’s long distance, because I’ve been running for months and running too fast drains my energy very quickly. I’ve had people pass me running at a faster pace. If that happens to you and you think you’re too slow, you’re not too slow, they’re just faster in that moment. Don’t worry about them.
The best part of this video is, "As you said everytime when your body says you can't but if you push yourself and try hard then everything is possible".
@@anuragsakure3351 Quite bold to assume you don't work hard just because you look after your limits. The reason I passed out was because I catched a cold. So, what I meant with my comment is you should look after your health and take a rest if you really need it.
@@teenshii so mention it clearly dear that you catched out cold and if you're feeling weak then it's obvious how you will you push your limits ? But I'll say keep practicing and take care of your health. If you're thinking about maintaining the streak is essential then it's not so important it's all about how much practice you can do. Because practice makes you perfect.
I’ve started running again after a few weeks off and had an ankle/lower leg injury and now i’ve been doing 8k every other day but after 3 sessions i’ve developed shin splints which is annoying as i’m enjoying it.Any tips? Should i keep going every other day but do fewer kilometres?
Same but i've started doing 3 miles everyday this week. Planning to move onto 4 miles for the next two weeks after that.I find that breathing correctly helps so much with regards to running further.
I can not reccomend this enough. Start off with a walk daily if possibly for two weeks and up the pace when you feel ready. Once your muscles have strengthened you should find it alot easier to start running.
As you run longer and longer, you’ll learn the difference between regular running discomfort you can push through, and an injury you must take a break for. Through some discouraging trial and error, you will learn the absolute limit you can push your body to, and when you can tell yourself “just one more mile.” Sharp, persistent, or sudden pain is not normal when running. Aching and soreness may be something you can learn to ignore. But if you feel in your gut that you shouldn’t push yourself because your legs hurt too bad, stop. It’s better to be out of running for two weeks than three months.
absolutely right, I trained up to a point where I could flawlessly run 12 miles in under 2 hours. I am not an overweight person but not skinny either. My feet took a turn for the worst as the run back I felt a sting on the top mid of my foot following the big toe. It's that big bump everyone has on their right foot. Anyways, I felt this pain and sure enough I wasn't able to walk pretty much at all without it hurting unbearably bad. Creams and foot support helped a little, but I knew I had to take a break. 3 months later, I went back. Same pain, same foot. Guess I shoulda started slow. Anyways, the point is I did go back to running, just not so far as to push my body to its absolute limit. I felt great after those 12 miles, confident that I was able to do it without feeling defeated or tired. Moral: just because your heart and legs can handle the pain does NOT mean that your feet can. Feet are a little more delicate, I know now when to set my limits. Don't learn the hard way people. Ignoring muscle pain is one thing, but flat out feeling discomfort in any part of the body is not good. I share this with all honesty and gratitude to anyone reading. Thanks
After 2 km my lower abdomen starts hurting, it's not that my legs hurt or i'm tired but my abdomen hurts so bad i can't keep running and i need to stop. Any tips ?
What part of your abdomen? It is very common for runners--especially beginners--to get pains in your sides, typically on the left, under the lower part of the ribcage. When I started running, I got them ALLL THE TIME and it was so frustrating! If I felt one, I slowed down and tried to breathe deeper. They're typically caused because of lack of oxygen. The truth is, the only way to get them less is to just keep running. The more you run, the more endurance you build, and the less susceptible to side stitches you'll be. Also, what are you eating before you run? Eating too much too soon before a run is a major culprit of side stitches. I'd say, move through the pain. Run slower if you feel pain, as long as you can stand it. If you can't, walk. That is a-okay. Listen to your body. Don't overexert yourself. But, the more you run, the less you'll feel pain. I promise it'll go away. I know it's disheartening, but you can do it!
Same thing happened when I started out. Take it slow, you won't be a half-marathoner overnight. It might take a few weeks before your body gets used to delivering oxygen to important areas when you run.
Without practice i ran very fast the first day then after that day.. I was going slower and slower 😭.. Also in running first time i was confident and energised all the through out the 100m sprint... But now i feel energy gone... What should i do
Here’s a tip I found: Dont tie your shoes tight. Before I learned this, by mile 3 my toes would start to tingle, and by mile 5 my toes felt numb. When you tie your shoes loosely it allows, at least for me, for my feet to not tingle and numb up.
Same here...definitely. And after playing mind games with myself after my feel begin to tingle, the answer is “yes, it’s better to stop, retie your shoes looser and keep running.”
Zachary Leatherwood I did that and didn’t notice my laces were untied and fell face flat on the concrete floor and ended up with a busted lip. Check your shoes every 5 minutes I learned the hard way
I used to push myself WAYYY to hard just telling myself "just endure the pain, just a little longer, the benefits are worth it" i would end up wheezing on the floor, difficulty breathing, tasting blood and constantly spitting out phlegm and coughing hysterically. I thought i had exercise induced asthma, but i just had horrible stamina. I am still working on building my stamina but for all of yall who need to hear this: It is perfectly fine if you need to stop running after 30 seconds, take a breather and just walk for a bit until you feel you are ready to do another 30 seconds, you can't expect yourself to run a mile with no breaks right off the bat. Doing this every day, 30 seconds 10 second break has slowly built up stamina that i didnt even notice, within a few days my mile time record dropped by 30 seconds because i took slightly shorter breaks that time around without noticing Also midway water breaks give me a small boost of energy Also try running on a nature path, 1/4th mile tracks really demotivate me and i feel like crap after instead of feeling accomplished for pushing myself, even if there are roots its so much more refreshing and motivating in my opinion to take a jog on a nature trail :)
toasty bagel I totally agree with your point about running on nature trails. It just makes everything seem so much more peaceful 😌

Sometimes I run and I kinda do ok, then I do some calisthenics and that's when my body says fuck it and I get pale and want to vomit. I think it is also my stamina, but there are times I actually can handle a good run and not being near to pass out lol. Thanks for your advice!
So it was your stamina not exercised induced asthma cause the same thing happened to me after running. It was constant coughing and phlegm and heavy breathing
SOMEONE HELP. Same my stamina is super low. I can hardly run 5 minutes. And my army training is coming next month in which I must complete a mile every week under 9 minutes (final mile under 7min). Last time I ran a mile and completed it (almost passing out) in 10:40mins. I am starting from today as I ran 5 minutes and was already fatigued. The problem is, I am a full time computer guy from childhood either playing video games or watching or researching.
btw thank you so much for this comment! edit: I am also considering lower my diet and weight and drink more water to run easily (currently at 52kg 23yo 168cm ht), I recently gained 2 kg from 50kg and have felt running even harder. Let me know if my consideration is good or bad.
I went on my 1st run today, I used the Nike run app and used a prerecorded 1k where a coach helps you I highly recommend! I had to walk for a few seconds after 500m but it was a good start and the coach is great
1. Gear (find what works for you) (running shoes & flip belt) 2. Food (what & when to eat) 3. apps (runtastic; couch to 5k; zombies, run 4. pace 5. motivation
As a new runner who has watched many many videos I have to say, this is by far the one that hits closest to home. I've had to find my own way and it was very much like this. Thank you for making me feel not so alone in my search.
“If you’re running and you can’t breathe, or you feel like you’re either suufocating- it’s obvious but just breathe deeper or breathe in two times” I don’t know why i haven’t thought of it, honestly! This was the advice i got from my PE teacher since i sort of gave up mid-way into the run. I was pretty new with running and I absolutely hate PE. Our PE classes mostly consist of basketball, soccer, kendo, swimming classes, american football, dodgeball and baseball. I was surprised hearing that we were gonna try running for 15 minutes non-stop. I thought i wasn’t the type of running person, since all i wanted to do was play dodgeball and basketball all day. But Running became one of my favorite workouts now! I hope i can learn more and more about running, because the more i learn from it, the more i kinda fall deeper in love!
So, when I started running, i got a garmin and logged everything. I ran 3-4x a week. I did all my runs at an easy conversation pace. After about a year I was still struggling...every run was hard. I went back and looked over my logs to see what i was doing wrong. This is what I found 1) My average pace was way faster than when I started and my average heart rate was way lower. The progress was so subtle that my body was constantly adjusting for that "easy" conversation pace as I naturally became healthier and faster without actually trying to get faster. My advise to those struggling, STICK WITH IT!
Today I had 3 minutes improvement according to Endomondo app, but for me it’s always so hard. I really would like to enjoy more. I have a 10k in October, it’s a bit scary.
when i started running my mile time was 12 minutes now it’s down to 6:30 pretty proud, but it took a while so don’t worry if you don’t see results quickly. You’ll achieve your goals through consistency.
I’m a current cross country runner who used to be a fat dude with a 50 minute 5k and I’m approaching sub 20 now. Not a beginner. But this was helpful. And super well edited. Great stuff! ❤️
Same, then I stop, yeah stopping is lame but if I stop stretch for 10 minutes and start running again I break off the limits. Or if I don't stop at least I slow down and start breathing fast.
I feel ya! I do that too, and it helps me to have songs on my playlist that I enjoy lip-synching to. I look like a doofus mouthing along to lyrics only I can hear, but it gives me something else to focus on and, ironically, seems to help my breathing normalize.
lol that used to happen to me but when i started working out, it stopped. i think its because when you exercise, your VO2 max increases which means you can run more efficiently, faster and for longer. the only problem im having so far while working out is muscle contractions in my stomach from breathing too fast for too long.
Dude, make sure to not die from that. Don't push yourself that hard at first. ESPECIALLY if you hadn't worked out in awhile. Also, don't immediately start chugging your water after a work out of being dehydrated. You could die of that, I think what happens is a heart attack, forgot what happens exactly. Just drink slow.
This Couch to 5k advice is a godsend! I had zero experience, zero knowledge how to build up my endurance and couple of times I tried running before I felt like I was making no progress, so I stopped. With this app I feel like my every run is a huge step forward, each run is longer, with less walking intervals. I’m halfway through that program and I’m so proud of myself:) makes me really enjoy running and even anticipate it! Thank you for that advice! About to start on those zombies 🧟♀️
@@jasperjohnson1727 videos and guides are all over the internet. take things slow and don't fall for clickbait. don't fall for stupid supplements. read up on what is attainable naturally and what is not. remember, good form and good reps > shit form, more reps. also, muscle doesn't build in a gym. muscle builds during recovery. so, eat more if you wanna get big. growth is only present over consistent effort, it takes time to grow. also, get GOOD SLEEP.
@@JamieOGman yeah but it's a bit far. my city's cramped with buildings :/ i usually just jog around my village but you know there are times when you just want to run around a different environment
Can I ask where you live? My current city (different than where I was in this video) doesn't have a ton of sidewalks at all, so many are forced to run on the road or in parks.
@@CatyCulp i live in cebu city, it's in the Philippines haha the sidewalks here are pretty narrow too. I actually would've considered running by the road but I'm afraid i might get run over by a car or something
I've recently given up on running, and this video popped up. It was just what I needed. I fee like going for a run for the first time in weeks now. Thank you for motivating me.
I’ve watched so many running channels lately to try to get better at running, Just started back good, and you’re the first one that I’ve ever heard of a Flip Belt from and that’s AWESOME, I’ve been getting aggravated every time it was coming up to wear my spandex shorts because neither of them have pockets, but this, This is PERFECT! Thank you so much!
I second the tip of a snack and saying to yourself you wil jog for one more song.(especially when you have songs that are 6 minutes long) In the mornings I have a slice of bread with peanut butter and a bannana or orange then start jogging twenty minutes later. I would definitely encourage anyone who is struggling not to give up. Slow and steady is just fine. You'll get there with time.
I second it too, I always have only a coffee to run my tummy out. There is nothing worse than a 'omg im gonna shit myself' feeling! :D I prefer running on empty stomach. I know it is not the healthiest to suggest, but every body is different! Oh, and my first suggestion would be: get a pulse sensor. Everything is about your heart rate! Runners unite :)
Wow. So motivational. I am a beginning runner and I was feeling a bit discouraged by my pace and momentum but you really encouraged me to try harder and be proud of my little efforts!
For the fact that you started is great, just don't quite. Never forget that you are not in competition with anyone but youself as our journey differs, so don't give up on youself on anything including running. You are doing great
Hey, everyone starts somewhere, add in planned 1 minute walks every few minutes...this allows your brain to focus in on the next break, allowing you to run a little quicker too knowing you have a break soon! Best of luck.
Here's a tip. When you run, keep your arms next to your body, and not in front of it. You are moving your arms way to far to your chest. When you keep them next to your body, you will spill less energy.
Do high intensity like intervals, run at 100% for x amount of time then stop and rest for that same time and repeat. Also, diet is more important if you want to lose weight, so focus on that first u fat fuck.
@Muhammad Badr Your question sounds logical but it really isn't. First, the tip presented in the first comment was to enhance speed, or simply run more energy efficiently. If you want to burn more calories, and you are not at your aerobic limit, then run faster. The other option would be to run longer. If you apply your question to bicycle riding, it would go something like this: if you want to burn more calories while riding, why not take some air out of your tires? I would advise to have your bicycle set-up to be energy efficient, just ride faster, or ride farther.
I started running last year, I am 15 years old my tip is just pace and length, till this day I haven’t changed my pace a bit. But I did increase the amount I run. I remember the first time I ran I only did like a quarter of a LAP! The next day I did a whole lap. And like 5 months after I did a whole mile non stop. So just don’t stop. Don’t lose hope. And remember why You started
10 year runner tip. Trainer Mileage - as soon as you see wear and tear in your Trainer which happens to me every 400 miles approx. buy a new pair. And make sure the soul is reasonably flexible without being thin. Empty stomach - don't believe everything you hear about eating carbs, eating before run, timing eating etc. Its all nonsense. Run on an empty stomach, I run up to 10 miles without any food that day. Caffiene - yes. This will be more than adequate to get to 10 miles with one cup of coffee. If you go past 10 miles then eat, but do not listen to beginner tips about smashing food before a run. Nonsense. Eat afterward. Run hard - if you struggle or feel like crap on a run. This is a win no matter what time you reached or how bad you did. It was good exercise if you felt tired during the run. If you didn't, didn't get anything out of it. Good days and bad days, irrelavent... as long as you ran, you win.
@@epiccoconut5995 Agreed, caffiene is so good its dangerous. I would recommend it to all runners ^-^ and gym-goers. Food is overrated. Protein is for repair. Carbs is fat.

I literally just came back from running and I just want to say: if you’re worried that people are going to look at you, just wake up at 5-6-7 am and do the jogging then. I’ve done my first ever jog at 6am today, I didn’t see a single soul- except a cute snail I named Tony.
😂😂 nice to know I'm not he only one, talking and naming the creatures I see on my walks🏃
How's tony?
Say "Hi" to Tony from My side
Well, at the track I go to, it’s mostly just a bunch of severely overweight people walking, so I feel like I’m always in the top 95% even if I can only manage to jog like 0.5 miles. That’s one strategy to use if you’re self conscious about your pace.
Then again, I think most runners/joggers are not judgmental towards others making an effort. For example, I am happy that the obese guy I lapped four times over one mile is out there walking because it means that he is making a very good effort to be healthier and improve. That’s what matter most; improvement relative to yourself, not relative to other people.
Love Tony
Running is a mind game. Your body wants to stop, but your mind needs to be in charge!

Yesssss. The burn is insane and so so good.

My beginner's tip may not be popular, but it's true: It's ok to walk when you need to. Just keep going and trying.
Agreed last thing you want to do is stop!
100% true!!
Another beginner tip: Never run on an uneven surface. You can twist your ankle and tear ligament severely.

It happened to me too, try to just look forwards and enjoy the sights
Try to listen to music, this often causes distraction 😀
I’m the exact opposite. Running makes me forget about my problems.
If it helps any, what I do is focus on posture and breathing in the nose and out the mouth. Even if I'm just walking fast it helps me lose focus of time and distance.

The 3 things that enabled me to massively improve my running capability were the following:
1) SLOW DOWN!!!
I was running way too fast, which was exhausting me very early. I've found that they best way to go is to start slower, and naturally increase pace as you go along if you wish. I know that sounds strange but it seems to be the case for me
2) Get a better technique.
This is very important too. With the correct technique (as shown in this video) you seem to just go faster with far less effort. Its amazing!
3) Eat healthier
Sounds cliche but Ive stopped eating sweat treats (biscuits, cakes...
100% agree with you on all of these points! ❤️
I’m trying to learn how to not get out of breath in 10 seconds
Lauraleigh Durr make sure you keep your chest up so your lungs can fully inflate lol
Alexa smith I do that
Start at a slower pace than usual , and work up to your normal pace, idk if it works for everyone , but it works for me!♡
Do 200’s full sprint with 30 second rest in between each one. It will have you dead and it will really challenge your mental self but it helps improve sprinting and breathing
Keep running for 10 seconds everyday until your time improves👍

My tips !
1. Get a gooooood playlist going! When I’m really into my music I always find my runs are usually longer and faster
2. Find your time of day. I’m personally not a really early morning person or evening person, my best runs are mid morning
3. Get lost in your thoughts! Sometimes when I’m thinking about other things I forget I’m even running and a mile can go by before I think about running again
4. When you really start to tire out and are having a hard time, concentrate really hard on normalizing your breathing :)
Lovely

Remember: we are always our worst critics.
People couldn't care less about how you run/how sweaty you look. Using shyness as a reason to not go out for a run is merely an excuse to stay lazy. And if you happen to notice someone looking at you weird - and you don't know them - just stick up your middle finger and smile! At least one of you is moving their legs.

Instead of "ladies" she calls us by our last names as we cross the finish line. Everyone has 'regular' names and when I pass all you hear is BrAceY

My tips are as follows:
1) Never ever wait for the trainer or running mate.
Thank you so much! your comment is a blessing!💕
👍
Would like to know more on reversing of Ur lifestyle..
That’s pretty much everything I did.

so true right?
This. The mental side is where I've found I shine the most. My pace isn't the fastest and I can't run the furthest, but mentally I push through what would stop me
So what helps
Period.
thanks for the tips!
for me when I run there are always cars or people so I just think, "dont make them think ur a fatass" and thats my motivation
This is so true 😂😂 whenever I go walking and turn to go passed the road I’m like alright time to pick up the pace you’ve got an audience
same lmaooo like I’ll be about to start walking cause I’m getting tired and I’ll see a bunch of cars coming and think ok you gotta keep running till they pass or they will know you suck at this and it will be embarsssing.
works everytime thooo
Lmfaoo same gotta pick up the pace so it looks like you’re doing shit instead of dying
Yasss I can totally relate
Stare the car down, intimidate them
I hate running out in public where people can see me, it feels so awkward and when they like say hi I sound like a dying whale when I try and say hi back🤣
So true. I always feel jealous when I see people out running, wishing I was running too!
Tip 1 is kind of ridiculous. Sometimes you have to be aware of your breathing.

For beginners.
-Get a good quality sleep
-You must learn proper warm-up and stretches before and after your run for your body to avoid injuries and unnecessary pain...
- before running i only drink half cup of coffee, it boost my energy and make me feel alive i guess.
-before u run or jog make sure to start walking with maybe 10m walking or whenever u feel ir ready
-dont lean ur body forward, keep it straight.
Thank you
Tnx
Also, their are two types of stretching DYNAMIC stretching (movement based) and STATIC stretching (stationary based). You only do dynamic stretching before a run while the static stretching is after a run.

This might sound stupid but it actually helped me a lot :
When I feel really unmotivated and tired and already know this session is not gonna be good, I tell myself that every single step I take would be better than staying home doing nothing. Even if I just go out for a walk. And most of the time, I still end up running and doing a lot more than what I had anticipated!
Yessss such a good tip!!
If you don't want to run, run. Best advice. Thinking is the enemy.
This is great advice! Also, it is applicable to all habits not just running. 😘😘😘
some of my best runs came after feeling/thinking I was going to have a horrible run. Some of my worst came after feeling amazing.
This isn't stupid at all. Most days I am only motivated to run because of this method!
I want to get into running but I have such bad anxiety and I start thinking, "what if people are laughing at me or staring." 🤦🏻♀️😓
Fuck people just do it u will feel better and will feel motivated
Omg I had the same problem bit I go of road where theirs no cars so liek fields or back roads x
So how's the planning to try running soon™ going?
hi, it's been almost a year since you commented this and idk if you started running or gave up on the idea but wanted to encourage you anyway.
I even had two men making fun of me while they were passing by with their motorcycles (what a jerk), SO MY POINT IS: DO NOT GIVE A SINGLE FUCK ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT YOU. they always say shit, they always criticize you and us but don't even put up the effort & time that you're putting. just focus on yourself, ignore them. whenever i feel like people are watching me, i just look at the sky, or the sea if i'm running by the beach, or the trees. distract yourself, do not even look at their stupid faces.
thank you all so much for the encouragement!! i really appreciate it
@@lacamorte Huh are you surrounded by people at all times...? Mask always on?
The most important advice on running I found in one book and follow since then:
No matter what gear you have (or don’t have), no matter what results you’ve achieved, no matter how you look while running.
Just run in the way that makes you feel good about it. If you feel tired - take a rest. If you feel energetic - run more.
You will just love it and want to run again and again.
I like this advice :D

@@jasmintea8825 why? I don't run but when I do, i'm telling you I don't feel bad. I only feel bad when I'm super tired. If I had a private place to run i'd do it a little bit at a time.
No one feels like pushing themselves to work harder. You may want to, but your body still isn't inclined to. You eventually have to sacrifice your feelings for hard work if you want to be successful. So it's not all sunshine and rainbows and running however you want all the time. That's how to *feel good.*
But to be successful and progressive, you need to make sacrifices.

-A huge fan of running
Any tips for pain? Specifically, the shin?

@@moefoeshow bro you have to separate fiction from reality
Something I wish I knew when I first started running was to stretch! Stretch before and after the runs, I'm so glad I stretch and hydrate now!
I just walk a bit before running too. There are a lot of articles out there that show that stretching before running makes you more prone to injury.
Oh yes!! Combine Yoga with running - gives You stability, strength as well as muscle relaxation:)
AND: I can recommend to find something like a short city run that you are motivated to join because nice people you know are joining it too (ideally of course you can also prepare and train together).
What a great video! I started running last year and have done nothing but beat myself up and constantly compare myself to others.
Oh my god that’s actually so helpful. At the end of my xc season the bottom of my feet are crusty and nasty for some reason.
And frankly I don't think you need super luxury socks either. I bought running socks from Decathlon for like 2-3 euro a pair and they're honestly good enough.

Edit 2: it's July 31/19 and I'm still tobacco/nicotine free (for those wondering how I am doing). And don't worry, I'm never touching a cigarette again. :)
It was a hell of a journey (and still is!) I hit my first 5k about a month ago, which was my goal.

AMAZING tips! Also HUGE congrats on losing 50lbs! That's incredible and you should be SO proud! Way to go!

Omg woowww
I lost 15 lbs from running. And I don’t have to pay for a gym membership. Which is nice. I agree with pacing. Definitely have a good pace that works for you, especially when it’s long distance, because I’ve been running for months and running too fast drains my energy very quickly. I’ve had people pass me running at a faster pace. If that happens to you and you think you’re too slow, you’re not too slow, they’re just faster in that moment. Don’t worry about them.

This is a fact folks!! I tried to start just jogging a little and somehow hurt my dern toe lol
Just like starting up a car. It needs to warm up!
This is probably the most honest running for beginners video I’ve ever seen. Thanks for making it!
I've definitely learned this the hard way as well! There's a happy medium when it comes to shoe tightness!
Check your shoes every 5 minutes I learned the hard way
Same here my soles used to cramp up when my laces were tight
I used to push myself WAYYY to hard just telling myself "just endure the pain, just a little longer, the benefits are worth it" i would end up wheezing on the floor, difficulty breathing, tasting blood and constantly spitting out phlegm and coughing hysterically. I thought i had exercise induced asthma, but i just had horrible stamina. I am still working on building my stamina but for all of yall who need to hear this:
It is perfectly fine if you need to stop running after 30 seconds, take a breather and just walk for a bit until you feel you are ready to do another 30 seconds, you can't expect yourself to run a mile with no breaks right off the bat. Doing this every day, 30 seconds 10 second break has slowly built up stamina that i didnt even notice, within a few days my mile time record dropped by 30 seconds because i took slightly shorter breaks that time around without noticing
Also midway water breaks give me a small boost of energy
Also try running on a nature path, 1/4th mile tracks really demotivate me and i feel like crap after instead of feeling accomplished for pushing myself, even if there are roots its so much more refreshing and motivating in my opinion to take a jog on a nature trail :)
toasty bagel I totally agree with your point about running on nature trails.
I had to walk for a few seconds after 500m but it was a good start and the coach is great
Such a fantastic start! Way to go! 😍

Thanks!
lol fuckin apps. just jog
Motivation is the hard bit!
Gna.. .the suitable name for your channel. That's a telugu alphabet
As a new runner who has watched many many videos I have to say, this is by far the one that hits closest to home. I've had to find my own way and it was very much like this. Thank you for making me feel not so alone in my search.
Same over here!! Good luck with your running! :))
“If you’re running and you can’t breathe, or you feel like you’re either suufocating- it’s obvious but just breathe deeper or breathe in two times”
I don’t know why i haven’t thought of it, honestly!
I didn’t watch this to learn I watched this to get my self
motivated
Ur the best motivator
You're so sweet Nina! Thank you! Happy running!
“It never gets easier; you just go faster.” Greg LeMond (cyclist)
it does get easier though you notice you can run farther
For every level there's another devil!
Today I had 3 minutes improvement according to Endomondo app, but for me it’s always so hard. I really would like to enjoy more. I have a 10k in October, it’s a bit scary.
@@Alienazor3 It's not that it gets easier. It's that you strengthen yourself to be better prepared to take on the challenge. There's a difference.
I’ve downloaded zombie run and it’s actually made me excited to go out and run 😂
Right?! So fun!!
Same it really inspires me to run faster
I would download it if I Wasn’t terrified of zombies😂😂
@CookieDough•v• yes i think so
It’s really the best!
when i started running my mile time was 12 minutes now it’s down to 6:30 pretty proud, but it took a while so don’t worry if you don’t see results quickly. You’ll achieve your goals through consistency.
my mile is 12 mins right now 😔😔 it’s pretty embarrassing
how long have you been running?
Zoë Bell if you’re asking me, I only had started a month ago
I’m a current cross country runner who used to be a fat dude with a 50 minute 5k and I’m approaching sub 20 now. Not a beginner. But this was helpful. And super well edited. Great stuff! ❤️
I get too focused on my breathing and then I cant breath normally
Same, then I stop, yeah stopping is lame but if I stop stretch for 10 minutes and start running again I break off the limits. Or if I don't stop at least I slow down and start breathing fast.
I feel ya! I do that too, and it helps me to have songs on my playlist that I enjoy lip-synching to. I look like a doofus mouthing along to lyrics only I can hear, but it gives me something else to focus on and, ironically, seems to help my breathing normalize.
Tip #6
Jog where there's plenty of rattle snakes and scorpions!
jcneverquits and always run through the desert with no water, lol.
jcneverquits oh. God.
getting those high knees while u run
jcneverquits lol
You to much watching natgeo wild
*I always meet new people when I go for a run. Like the PARAMEDICS*
I'd run for a bit and have a heart attack lol but it hurts and it sucks.
😄
lol that used to happen to me but when i started working out, it stopped. i think its because when you exercise, your VO2 max increases which means you can run more efficiently, faster and for longer. the only problem im having so far while working out is muscle contractions in my stomach from breathing too fast for too long.
Plus side, meeting new people
Dude, make sure to not die from that.
Started lifting two years ago. Now that I’m down 80 lbs. I’m ready to start adding in running/jogging/walking to my regimen.
Oh yeah
Thaddeus Fields any tips for lifting? I want to start but I feel like a lot of my ideas on it are wrong.
This should be required viewing for everyone on the planet.
Aww thank you!
"your earbud falling off" that pisses me off so damn much
Hate when that happens when I work out omg
Oh yes, constantly! That happens even when I'm walking. So annoying.
I have to run a mile for school and you just eased my anxiety by like 6,000% because i've never thought of myself as a runner so thank you!
WOW, I came here expecting simple tips for running and I'm leaving so motivated. Thanks.
Yessss! Get it!
it’s really hard to run when you live in the city with extremely tight sidewalks. :(
Your city got a park?
@@JamieOGman yeah but it's a bit far. my city's cramped with buildings :/ i usually just jog around my village but you know there are times when you just want to run around a different environment
Can I ask where you live? My current city (different than where I was in this video) doesn't have a ton of sidewalks at all, so many are forced to run on the road or in parks.
@@CatyCulp i live in cebu city, it's in the Philippines haha the sidewalks here are pretty narrow too. I actually would've considered running by the road but I'm afraid i might get run over by a car or something
Me too :(
I've recently given up on running, and this video popped up. It was just what I needed. I fee like going for a run for the first time in weeks now. Thank you for motivating me.
Yay! You're absolutely welcome for the little burst of motivation! We all need it sometimes. :)
Morgan McGuire Great
I’ve watched so many running channels lately to try to get better at running,
Just started back good,
and you’re the first one that I’ve ever heard of a Flip Belt from and that’s AWESOME,
I’ve been getting aggravated every time it was coming up to wear my spandex shorts because neither of them have pockets, but this,
This is PERFECT!
Thank you so much!
Here’s another tip - don’t take a massive bunch of keys on a run... you only need 1
Well, where I lived when I filmed this, I needed a few keys because of the gated community I lived in. But yes, I agree! Take only what you need!
But then you can't jingle all the way home! Sorry, had to.
I need 2
🌸 house key and car key as I have to drive to a location
I don’t do same one twice, for safety and to kill boredom
I need my house key and mailbox and I need a decorative key chain because I would lose a single key
Exactly! You know it!

Gonna start practicing running just incase I get drafted to ww3😳 imma run from the US gov

Hi,
I'm a arctic runner.Close the river St Laurent, with wind,it about -18 celcius,last time...
My motivation:
Stay hot !
I use the oignon tecnick
Her skin is glowing maaan! I've noticed about myself too after running two months now.
Wow. So motivational. I am a beginning runner and I was feeling a bit discouraged by my pace and momentum but you really encouraged me to try harder and be proud of my little efforts!
Just keep going and it'll get so much easier! You got this! :)
Ohh that's one I had never heard of before! Thanks for the heads up!
Ruth Polinder so what is the position we have to run in, arms by our sides? Or....
what if the runner wants to burn more energy to lose fat ?
Great advice.
Agreed!
My best runs were always on apple juice or coffee. I remember when I first ran 6miles without batting an eyelash. It felt so good!
@@epiccoconut5995 Agreed, caffiene is so good its dangerous. I would recommend it to all runners ^-^ and gym-goers. Food is overrated. Protein is for repair. Carbs is fat.
thanks for the advice~
Hiro Valentine carbs is fat?
My dad said when he originally started running he tied his house keys to his shoes.
Interesting
Why?
Just the thought of this makes me uncomfortable....
This is what I do now.
Wouldn't it wack you in the ankle though
You can also listen to 'run boy run' song while jogging.
There's this video called "run boy run but you're running for your life" probably a even better choice 😂
