The College of Pyrotechnics...or as I like to name them: The main reason I installed the No More Rogue Armies mod. Those guys and Vashnaar's Conquest have messed up one too many campaigns for me
Don't be a bunch of wimps, you are simply seeing what it is like to be on the other end of a doom stack. Suck it up and work it out (and send it to Legend if you cannot)
Despite being a bit tedious, this is an instant classic disaster battle. Actual impossible odds, only manageable through a combination of masterful cheese and utter AI incompetence. Featuring overpowered enemy units, negative accuracy towers, and absurd game bugs to top it off - perfection.
Karl Franz video yesterday: Imagine if the enemy had steam tanks... Today: One steam tank can obliterate this whole army and the enemy has 15 of them...
Huge shout out to the rocket battery crew who spent about two thirds of this running around in circles on the battlements in the background btw. That was absolutely killing me.
13/10 Rating for this one Legend. It might honestly be the most impressive one yet and I've been here since the Warhammer 2 days where you'd micro Archaon and his shaggoth stack for 2 hours straight against 4 empire armies.
Honestly I' surprised that this is your first time experiencing the "units that randomly go invisible despite not having stalk and still being in line of sight" bug. I think it's been in the game since Thrones of Decay or maybe Shadows of Change.
Oh, much longer than that. I remember that from one of my earliest campaigns in WH3. I only got the game about a year after release, but that has been a while too now. Unless you mean it happens outside of cities too now.
The cool thing about the College is, because it’s an exclusively Empire roster, you can recreate these stack quite accurately during Empire campaigns…hell, I’ll probably copy-paste those stacks in honor of their absurdity, whenever I get around to actually playing Empire
I have 3 tankstacks so far in my current Gelt campaign (with a bonus jade wizard for healing them even), and maybe I just don't know how to use 'em (definitely), but damn they don't feel great. I mean, they do the job, but man... I guess it's also possible I've just been spoiled by Gelt's wizardstack. Gelt solos multiple armies. Hard to compare with that. He is the Supreme Patriarch, after all.
and then it spends 1 hour and 20 minutes just not getting to the victory point it needs to win the battle even though there are no defenses there, and even if there was they could just steamroll everything and win still very stupid, but with a doomstack this time
Nah the fact that it can't win with this doomstack is even more stupid. At some point all steam tanks literally just stand still and get shot for free where all they need to do is charge.
I've got so much more respect for you for this, in my current tomb kings campaign, I had two rogue armies of orks just sacking and shitting in the same 3 cities for a solid 7ish turns before I could raise an army to take them out and it was so annoying
Universally across the board the TWWH3 siege maps have horrendous pathing issues that have never been addressed. Sieges are tedious enough without having to deal with units turning invisible, your troops getting stuck on a ramp that clearly has no obstruction, ranged units refusing to fire at enemies right in front of them. It's like CA have decided everybody hates sieges anyway why bother fixing any issues?
"My lord, how can we deal with Turkish bombards with pike and shot?!" -Age of Empires 3 campaign 1st scenario crossbowman This scenario just revitalized some memories for me. I can't believe Legend won this! GG

I've noticed a ton of AI pathing issues on these underground siege maps. You fear the order that will send you to your doom, but your general says you're doing a great job just standing there

I feel really sorry for the Giant. He was waiting there for one and a half hour, just fantasising about boinking some tanks. Patiently waiting his turn as all the high and mighty elves queued up in front of him. Getting slightly miffed as the brutish Mournfang Cavalry rushed fourth and snuck in before him. Then, as he proudly marches on to the battlefield with the urge to bonk, he is met by the tear filled faces of elves exclaiming "We did it... We actually did it! We actually won!!". It was all over. No bonking. With a sad look on his face he solemnly let his club fall with a thud upon the wreck of a Steam Tank. Then he bent down, picked up some pieces, and joined in on the massive task of cleaning up this place. "Maybe next time" he thought to himself, "maybe next time".
Impressive work. Also impressive how bad those towers' aim is. Watching them miss a tank sitting still only 80yd away over and over makes you wonder what kind of mechanism they have sitting at the top - is it a giant slingshot?
How is that a close defeat but I get crushing defeat so often, when playing on normal. Even in some battles where I think I might win, I still see crushing defeat
The funniest part, hands down, were the tanks disappearing as if they had unspottable and sniper all of a sudden! 😆 Poor legend, I also hate that line of sight bug
